I always heard stat being mentioned on records but never actually heard him on a record verbally, after watching this interview i did exactly what u just said
hes basically saying thats how u really make it lol u can freestyle for 10 mins straight nobodys gonna care..make a real record..know how to structure a song
Thats exactly what Anthony Anderson was tellin Dj on Hustle and Flow when they was recording man we sound good dawg but all we have is flow we need a hook
He's saying everything i've been telling people forever about music. I have said you can tell a persons intelligence by the type of music they listen to. Furthermore the artist who sell the most appeal to the most people and the majority of the world is filled with idiots. The rich are 2% of the population which means they are far ahead of everyone else.
Rakim is definitely from a different era. At the same time an experienced producer should've known that. This was a monumental expectation damn near like a Quincy Jones /MJ collab. Rakim is an iconic Lyrical Genuis not a hook genius. True Hip Hop is not based on industry compliance but more so of dedicated alliance. Maybe Dre is more of a name than innovative reign... considering the Chronic was based primarily on sound good samples. But nothing creative like a Stevie or Prince to name a few🤔
@King Anthony I know mate. I was referring to how great 50 cents writing was up until he stopped using his catchy hooks. Although all of rap changed from hooks in their chorus because they couldn't write.
Stat Quo is wrong.. ppl dont care about songs.. they all care about is music aka beat banging.. and is the hook catchy. That's it.. and slaughter house are real emcees that dont give a f.... about a hook.. bc they on my lyrics have to speak for me.. not some catchy ass hook that wont be remembered in 2 weeks..
Reminds me of the Jay z thing he even kinda said it in the interview about Still Dre. Jay wrote that. DOC and Snoop couldn’t come up with ANYTHING close to that. To me that’s saying something bc you turn around…all Jay Z solo songs on Dre beats ARE NOT that good. They are the weakest of his music selection. Very odd considering Still Dre is probably Dr Dre’s biggest hit besides anything on The Chronic and the NWA stuff
@@daytonflyerr7608”Minority Report” is often regarded as Jay’s most underrated song ever. Highly critically acclaimed too. “Trouble” and “Lost Ones” are both incredible, incredible songs. All produced by Dre for Jay Z. It’s funny how that album is considered Jay’s worst, yet ALL the songs Dre produced for it, were loved tremendously. Makes you wonder what that album could’ve been had it been all D.R.E. produced.
@@blackhawks9763 that's what I wanted. His cadence doesn't suit Dr Dre beats tho imo. As a listener. Yes it makes for a great song but as Jay z thinks too...is it the best the song could sound? Even if he isn't on it? That's what I'm thinking. The best ever. Imo it isn't. 50 or Game could've used those SAME beats at the same time and we would have different perspectives. I think it would sound better with them it sounded like some throwaway Unit/Eminem beats. Dark and gritty. Jay flourishes on those umptempo type tracks. Not taking away from what he made I enjoyed it. Many others loved it. What I'm saying is with who Dre had to work with the plethora of artists. Giving those to Jay didn't give them their highest potentials. I can just hear Game or The Unit on some of those beats. 1 of them was a flip off of a Busta Rhymes beat Dre had low-key recycled that same year. All he did was change tempo and drums.
Funny thing is that never came out until he said that b. A.. 50 character loves to take credit and so called tell the truth always talking about the game and how he gave the game this & that. But nigga never said he used music for someone else.. he still a b.. in my eyes
From the very beginning this little child says dre moves to the money that's why Shady/Aftermath only released 50 Cent because he knew it was .ore profitable & then Obie Trice & D12 started getting profitable so then they started moving g & this man never moved. Me being biased became they are my favorite of all time G Unit Shady Aftermath I know why no one heard of this dude. I can only speak about myself &everyone else who knows 50 Cent Eminem & Dre are true LEGEnDs without a doubt!!!!
Stat Quo is the guy you need on your team because he's going to give you the honest truth Every time 💯
He’s right chorus and the beat is what sells songs. You don’t have to like it but you can’t deny it
this guy is being honest to his fellow brothers, good.
Never realized how smart stat is.. really wish he got a legit shot on shady it's a damn shame
those early tracks with shady that got out was dope too
He’s like the games best friend now he was on his label idk what happened
he's right about them hooks. get that and then still finesse the lyrics.
Right bc anyone would argue Fif Wasn’t the top lyricist at the time
You're spot on my brother! I've heard the name but after watching this interview, I'm off to check out your music!
I always heard stat being mentioned on records but never actually heard him on a record verbally, after watching this interview i did exactly what u just said
Rakim had a classic
Stat so real had to replay this twice.
He's so right damn I didn't know stat was so knowledgable
hes basically saying thats how u really make it lol u can freestyle for 10 mins straight nobodys gonna care..make a real record..know how to structure a song
Fresh like when chiddy bang freestyled for 24hrs str8 to beat the world record amd did and no.music came after
Thats exactly what Anthony Anderson was tellin Dj on Hustle and Flow when they was recording man we sound good dawg but all we have is flow we need a hook
Realest interview i ever heard.
Smart dude. Made perfect sense
Dre been telling y'all to keep it simple. Jay said to dumb it down...and they mean The Hook!!
The is a priceless advice.
i agree.....that's why its called hook..
Say it all the time im taking the Artist>Lyricist. Two spittas difference is one makes hits.
This a dope video. Love the insight
Trying to win on re up was classic to me
The dude tells it how it is. Still playing statlanta today
As great as Rakim is he does not have the hook making ability of 50 Cent And Nate Dogg
I thought Rakim and Dre clashed because Dre wanted Rakim to rhyme more on the street side and not the conscious side??
You're right. It was both.

Makes sense to me...
This is why 50 is the G.O.A.T

This is so true.
Why 50s latest decade of material is so weak. Them hooks are long but dead and buried.
@King Anthony I know mate. I was referring to how great 50 cents writing was up until he stopped using his catchy hooks. Although all of rap changed from hooks in their chorus because they couldn't write.
Wow, so that's what happened to that Rakim album. I always wondered what went wrong with that whole thing. Now we all know.
Damn.. I moved out the city so long ago, the car honking in the background annoyed the hell outta me lol.
So is that quote a rapper or a producer or engineer what exactly does he do
I wonder how much he's made writing some stuff for Aftermath. I know some Aftermath ghostwriters have made bank.

I miss Rakim. I thought he and Dr. Dre would have been a dope as colab. WTF
