If the battery is the same Ah and CCA as the old one, I don't see why it needs to be registered. I hooked up a slave battery to the front jumper terminals, then swapped out the main original 10yr old battery. Replacement was actually a little higher capacity, 95Ah 900CCA vs 92Ah 850CCA. I don't have a scan tool to register but figured I would swap the battery first and get a scan tool if there were any issues, seems to be working fine though.
I thought the registering has more to do with the ECU knowing how good the battery is. I also figure it does something with the auto start stop for a count but that's just me being paranoid. For example I've heard that Toyotas will give a starter so many starts then they want you to replace it. just due to a count.
Buy the Autozone AGM replacement for 50% less and just change your old S/N by 1 digit when registering the battery with your diagnostic tool. You don't have an Autel 808??
Dude thank you for all of your great videos! When I first got my S3 I watched all of your installs and now I got my wife a Macan S and you save me again. Do you ever run into any problems running squared wheel set on your Macan?
Awesome glad I could help. No issues from running a square setup. The overall height is the main thing with all the setups. But I did have the PDK go out this was an issue since I bought the car and it finally progressed. Need to do a video on that whole ordeal.
While I haven't been commenting on your videos lately. I have been following your channel since the GR Hatch days. A few years ago I had Audi replace the battery on my B9 S4 and oh man was it expensive. But yes, I am very curious on that story behind the PDK failure, as I've been reading this within the boards. Also wondering if this failure carried over to the 95B.2 side of things.
