    When I was young I always had my grandfather and dad take me fishing but never told me how to set up a spool and after watching this video I've set up already 4 spools and I've taught both my sons a 10 year old and a 7 year old so thanks mate this is the best video ever . PS the electric take is such a great secret to keep that braided line in place and not slip !

    Wrapping around the spool atleast (at a minimum 4 to 5 times) before pulling knot tight is the key for it not to slip! I benefited from this video! best braid to spool knot video by far

      Awesome mate, I'm so glad. Yes, the multiple wraps around the spool are key to getting the purchase required for running decent drag with braid straight to the spool 👌

      Every reel I get now has spools designed to take braid. They put marks and different things so the braid won’t slip. I used to back up my reels with some mono but now I don’t do that anymore

    This is the ONLY knot out of ALL the others that would stay tied on my reel!!! I am using Berkley Solutions Braid 10lb. test with 2lb. diameter. I have a Lew’s Xfinity reel with the knurled spool for braided line and ALL the knots I tried would slip and come loose!!! Don’t know what it is about all these knots including this one but it’s the only one I got to work!!! Thanks a million as I was about to pull my hair out of my head!!!

      @@Deanobravio lol! I've been fishing for half of my 26 years, but I took a 1-2 year break from it due to being an OTR trucker so I'm rusty. Long story short, I snagged enough on the bottom, damaged it on wood in the water and had to re tie far down the line , and switched lures so much that it ate up line quickly. Not your fault, I think I have a slightly smaller reel as well which doesn't help. I spooled a week or so ago and Im redoing it today

    I do the same thing except i don’t loop it around the reel more than once or twice, and then I tie the uni with just 3 over lanes instead of 6, so the knit isn’t so big. Been doing it like this for 20 years never had a problem. I sometimes don’t even use the tape. Just make sure it’s tight and you’ll probably be fine

  • @rider660r
    @rider660r 4 роки тому +2

    If you use liquid tape instead it never needs replacing (unless you physically peel it off),doesn't get hot and gooey,and uses less space on the reel.You do want to remove every bit of it on the lips of the spool so your line doesn't catch and mess up the cast.
    Baitcasters and conventional reels are much simpler to do.
    I use it on every one of my reels.
