- 12 years ago, David sat down in a simple blue Adirondack chair with his trusty Steal Your Face mug and expounded upon the virtues of Dillon Stadium, Hartford, CT 7/31/74 in his second "Oceanside" chat. The chat clocked in at a mere 10:44. Little did he know he would still be doing Seaside Chats 12 years later. The mug and the chair still exist but David's upgraded his camera work and back drop. These need to be reissued period. A limited edition legacy isn't good for anyone.

You can listen anytime online for free, to basically every show, ever, from the gratefuldead as well as most other bands, providing a recording exsists!

Would you consider re-releasing the first several Dave's Picks on CD? Or digital downloads even. CDs would be amazing though
I am still hoping that Dave’s Picks will be available on streaming services like the Dick’s Picks series has been for years.
I would like to see that also. I also understand that Not doing so adds to the value and exclusivity of the physically produced offerings too.

@@drummusicinc4027, yes, but some of us only get to listen to our music while traveling. And there are those who prefer physical copies over streaming so those will always sell. And the original Dave’s Picks are out of print.
@@drummusicinc4027regarding the Dicks Picks that you’re missing, Real Gone Music has done reissues of all of them for fairly decent retail prices, I would check their website for availability.
Why not re-release this on CD as well?!

why can't y'all just issue these releases as open runs? The whole vibe of these limited released pisses me off. It just smacks of exclusivism and prevents people from listening to the music.
The Dead were never about that. I refuse to buy into these limited releases for that reason.

Because if they were unlimited no one would buy them. Also, the Dick's Picks CDs are out of print too. They weren't advertised as limited, but like a lot of things, they aren't available as CDs anymore. . Its your loss if you can't get around to making a purchase or subsribing. The early bird subscription is $100 (free shipping) for four releases per year. I can't think of a better value.

If your gong to choose a show for vinyl and ask folks to pay over $100 you best make sure it's top shelf. Marketing 101 supply and demand and this vinyl release was a fail in this respect.

Way better shows form this year in fact it's a badly played show and a bad pick. There's a reason why this hasn't sold for the last 2 or so months and now you have to do a video to pump it up.

Better shows do exist from 1974, but it's specifically Dave's Picks shows on vinyl, which means 7/31/74 DaP 2, 5/14/74 DaP 9, 2/24/74 DaP 13, 7/19/74 DaP 17, 6/23/74 DaP 34, 2/23/74 DaP 42. Of those 34 and 13 would have been my first two preferences, but I'm more than okay with this, as this is also a cheaper way to get this than ebay for cds that may have disc rot.

They release as many CDs as they do vinyl and people like vinyl. There’s a lot more people out buying turntables than CD players, I assure you.

I’m a diehard vinyl baby so you’re on your own. However, I would rather see Dave repress all his picks to CD rather than keep doing vinyl reissues. Despite owning several of the full show GD vinyl box sets, I think CDs are a better way to enjoy Dead shows, especially those recorded after 80ish when they stopped using reel to reel and switched to digital recording. Why bother pressing it to wax if the source is a 16/44.1 DAT master ya know? Plus then I gotta get off my ass and flip the record mid jam every 15 minutes.
