Jakes Gerwel Fellowship Summit '24- Empower(ED) - Message from Hakeem Subair, 1 Million Teachers CEO

At the 2024 JGF Annual Summit, and under this year's theme Empower(ED), the community of JGF Candidate Fellows, Fellows and New Teachers gathered online to share industry best practices, learning opportunities, inspiration and connection to Empower themselves and their learners.
Our opening address was from Hakeem Subair, the CEO of 1 Million Teachers (1millionteache...) who shared key messages about the importance of building communities of practice as a teacher. The need for, and importance of, building these kinds of teaching tribes is essential in becoming service-led educators. "Service above self, you cannot be bigger than your ecosystem," says Hakeem.
