hi again joey i have not been doing much mixing lately as i started a new job as a kitchen porter full time and bugger me its hard work so i really only can have a mix on my 2 days off and that when im not sleeping? any way im thinking of getting a f1 in the next couple of months to add to my s4 and hoping should make life a bit easier in using the remix decks wot do you reckon
All of that good and clear information. If I least I can cue my tracks thru Traktor S8 I'll be happy. My cueing needs a second look in Traktor S8. Everything seems to work fine except cueing. SMH
What is the benefit of the techtool Midi control over Kontrol F1? currently I see the F1 around 190€ but the techtool Midi fighter 3D 220 €. Not sure if I got it right but paying more for the techtool gear gives me less in terms of functions? I am using an S4 MK2, what would you suggest for the remix decks to start with in terms of hardware?
+Martin Dauer Both are great for Remix Decks, though the Kontrol F1 is completely plug and play because it's Native Instruments gear and therefore tightly integrated. The Midi Fighter is really cool because it's designed to look like an arcade game - and for some people that's an ideal look and they like the feel of the controller better. There are a lot of mappings out there for it so you wouldn't have too much trouble using that, either. The Midi Fighter 3D adds something unique with 3D FX control (move the controller around to use it). Mostly comes down to personal preference - they're both very capable :)
Nice video I have been messing around with remix sets from NI, even tried making my own but ended in a disaster as nothing sounded well :/ , all I use my F1 now for is mapping functions such as record and flux mode be very interested to see how i can use it with mixing! :D keep it up!
***** Hey Joey cheers for the reply! I have used all of the NI remix sets but my problem lies with using the F1 without the pre-made sets, I have tried a few times to create my own remix sets of tracks inside of Traktor to mash-up songs but it became a musical mess, would there be any rule of thumb at all when grabbing samples to use in remix decks in terms of keys (Camelot) or situations it may work best?, I have used the F1 to grab drum loops and small vocal one-shots but from there I hit a wall, anything I seem to play sounds unnatural such as looped synths, basses etc, if you get me. sorry for the long-windedness :/
Hey you guys at digital Dj tips can you please make a tutorial for external hard drives I'm having a little bit of trouble using mine on traktor pro 2 thanks @digitaldjtips #digitaldjtips
Hey Joey great video series. I've got an S2 but thinking about additional hardware for remix decks. Have you seen (or anyone else seen) Akai APC Mini - looks suitable with sufficient pads, and volume sliders. Any experience of this set-up working?
+Duncan Deaville (diDprojects) For Remix Decks - I'd recommend incorporating a Traktor Kontrol F1 into your setup. It's a bit cheaper than the Akai and has 1:1 integration with the software. While more expensive, the Kontrol D2 offers increased control over Remix Decks and stems, with the same benefit of working seamlessly in Traktor :)
+Duncan Deaville (diDprojects) Ah! Sorry, didn't see it said "mini". Yes, that's cheaper for sure - still, the F1 & D2 have better Remix Deck integration, although the Akai APC mini should work fine with the right mapping (haven't tried this personally, so if you do, let us know what you think!) :)
Great vid, Joey! You are an excellent instructor! Thank you!
Thanks! You're very welcome :-)
Thanks Joey!!!!!!! Can't wait for Pt. 2
