    This could not have been more helpful. Thank you. The image of your son, reading on your bed with that precious dog, just really got to me. Big time. How blessed are we, especially during these times, to have this escape from the propagation of constant fear and submission in both public and private schools right now. I thank my husband EVERY DAY, without fail, for having my back in this endeavor.

    Loving the homeschool videos about older kids! I am homeschooling for the first time and have a 7th grader this school year. High School is just around the corner, so I am really enjoying your High School prep videos as well. Thank you for sharing!

    This was great! Your so right, there really are not a lot of homeschooling videos of Jr. High and High School! We have been using TGATB for 3 years and my oldest who is in 8th grade is also doing level 7. He watched this with me and thought it was cool because he was right around the same lesson as your son!
    As always I just love your videos, thank you!!!

    Thanks for sharing, Ashlee! I’m trying to figure out what I’m doing for LA next year for my 7th grader. He’s using Essentials in Writing now, and I bought Essentials in Literature to go with it, but it was just way too much for him, so we put EIL to the side and are finishing up EIW. I like both programs, and at some point he will need a literature element in high school, just not sure what that will look like in the future.

    This was very helpful, thank you. I am homeschooling for the first time. I feel like this gave me detailed insight on what to expect as she grows. My child is in fifth grade and you are very correct in saying there is not enough out there for teaching the older kids. For much of the school year, I have felt very alone and discouraged. We started our year with a different curriculum and I felt like I was really missing out on what I had dreamed homeschooling could be. I prayed and prayed and researched my little heart out trying to find what I dreamed and hoped was out there when one day God revealed THE GOOD AND THE BEAUTIFUL to me. I knew instantly this was an answer to all my prayers! We just started using their curriculum mid-way through the year and already I see a massive improvement in the time we spend together during school. My daughter no longer whines and cries before lessons, but actually enjoys the information she's learning! The sense of dread is gone. The art and amazing photos enrich each lesson and somehow create a more open mind to learning. There is beauty on EVERY page! My heart leaps with joy as my child actually encourages me to do her pastel art lessons along with her. The sense of pride she gets from being creative is priceless. This course is an answer to my prayers and although not every day is easy or perfect, I feel like I've been given back the joy I've been struggling to find through this blessed yet fleeting time in our lives together as mommy and daughter. All praise be to God for answering my prayers! I am SO thankful for THE GOOD AND THE BEAUTIFUL! Once again, thank you for sharing this video. I love your channel.

    I've been waiting patiently for a ditl homeschooling with your son who is the same age as my son. It's so helpful and I can show my son that he is not the only boy doing TGTB 7th level Language Arts. 😆 He is not fond of writing assignments...he'd rather spend his days on TT. I hope you're able to do more of these videos in the future. Thank you! It makes my day as a homeschool mom much easier.

    The older children videos are definitely more helpful. My only homeschooler is a 5th grader. We tried TGATB language arts last year and it was not a good fit for the season of life we were in. I am thinking of trying it again next year with level 6 since we are in a different season of life now.

    That was great thanks for sharing. I have a son who will be entering 5th grade in the fall. I am considering homeschooling. But he loves and thrives on structure and consistency. I like the good and the beautiful , but you said no two days are the same, dont you find this hard to keep the kids knowing what to expect and be independant?

  • @MichelleL83

    Thank you for making this video! One question I have about TGTB is how much sentence diagraming is there? We had bad experiences with that before we began homeschooling. Please tell your son that we and our children (fellow middle graders) appreciate it! My 7th grade daughter is a lefty as well. I'm excited to have her watch this video so she can see that the different parts to TGTB aren't so scary. I'd really like her to try this curriculum, but she's not a strong writer, so I wonder if it provides strong guidance for her. (Okay, two questions 😉). Thanks again!

    Hey. With the Good and the Beautiful LA, do you go over the writing assignments together with a rubric? Does he go through a writing checklist fist? (Punctuation, paragraphs, direct speech formatting etc). I notice that there is little direction included in the lesson handbook it I’m wondering if it’s because the guideline for all writing exercises are provided elsewhere. Thank you x

    Question....All of those smaller tasks that he did which came together to make 45 minutes of work, Were those all TGTB directed or did you pull that together? Like did you decided to review states and capitals or does it tell you to do that?

    I have a few questions on the good and the beautiful. Does the history curriculum mention that Egypt is in Africa? Does it represent Africa in a realistic view? Africa has lots of beautiful cities and beaches. Or does it only focus on the jungle and huts. Do you find that TGATB is spiral or mastery or a bit of both? Is it a good match for all learning styles?

    • @GraceandGrit
      @GraceandGrit  3 роки тому

      Different years of history focus on different areas. This year was focused on ancient Africa for a few lessons. I find it’s a bit of both.

      @@GraceandGrit I would also like to apologize to you (I think it was you) I left a comment about you being Trump supporters. It wasn't right for me to judge you on that. Everyone has the right to vote for who they please.... But about history, does it explain that Egypt is in Africa though? And does it give a a full view of Africa? Not just safaris?
