MAESTRO! Thanks for this pattern. It answers my gill quandary. I've tied it in size 16 - BEAUTIFUL. Moved on to 20 and I'm struggling, especially around the head. Learned along the way the body quill loops need to be fairly long or you'll fight them. Plan to fish this fly as soon as Covid lets us out.
The second color is called "sand". I've tied these on a larger hook and believe me ,this is a difficult fly on a larger hook .Imagine on a size 20 !!!!!! I have been tying for 55+ years. I used "Ostrich hurl" to create the gills, and so do other Tyers. Not only is this pattern expensive but it's also for an expert tyer. I'm not about to spend this much money on a fly I might through away. I don't have a Sponsor paying for my material. I'll stick to my method. ✌
Eli, this might sound like a silly question but where do you get you paint brush(s)? I bought one from Ace Hardware and I didn’t like the finish of the bristles so I ended up throwing it away. Thanks! 🎣
any vinyl ribbing will probably suffice, but slim rib is a solid material it does not flatten out like other ribbing, that is the key to this product it stays round. hope this helps
