This video (and believe it or not, an ice skating group’s video) help me slalom. Skaters doing this in the rink to music inspire me. Arms, hips, and soft and low knees. Got it 😉
So glad it helped. Ice skating videos are great too. As you say a lot of skills transfer and have the same technique. I love going to the rink and getting inspired by other skaters. Have fun 🛼⭐️💕
1:00 THAT WAS SO FREAKING COOL!I mmay not know how to skate yet, but I am writing a story about it and using a lot of skating terminology, so these videos really help. Thanks for the aewsome tutorials and they are shot and edited excellently too!
Hey gang wanna have fun with this and feel like an expert? Beginner like me? Try skating to the old Beach Boy hit "Surfin' Surfari". You'll pick up the tempo straight away and it will make it a blast. Pretend you're on a surf board. In between you can just do some strokes/steps. If you're more advanced backward too. Try it you'll like it. Love these videos thank you Skatie!
@@Skatie Hi. I've never been on a surfboard in my life. I did the slalom on the chorus part "come on baby surfin surfari, I'm going to take you surfin surfari " the rest I did what steps or footwork knew. I used to really get in to it. This was on the ice. I can't wait to try it when I get the quads. Riedell is slow to deliver Of course I'll start over with the very basics. Your have the best syllabus for beginners and advanced.
@@Skatie I should have mentioned I skated it half time. I think that's the correct terminology. I don't slalom to the exact tempo. It has more sweep. Really great with a one foot slalom. I used two.
Question?!?! Should I loosen up my back trucks, if my slalom isn't working? Will that also help to spin? I'm afraid to experiment at my age!!! Lol. I've got the from trucks loosened, but am afraid of getting out of control with the back wheels...
It is a good idea to loosen both. Just try a 1/4 turn at a time until you feel a bit more flex. Take it slow, you can always loosen them more over time as you feel more comfortable.
wondering, if the two foot requires a lot of pressure, and im not getting enough out of my edges, does that mean i need to loosen up my trucks more? or trust my skates and lean more into the outside edge ?
Could be a combination of both. I have a video about truck adjustment. It’s called. “Don’t do it!” 😜 that will help with the technical side of truck adjustment.
I feel like indoor wheels excel here, my 82As are struggling to give me the slip enough on my tiled floor to be able to move quickly, I get close to the "cone" and my foot stutters and wants to trip up
Definitely. A nice lot of movement in your trucks will definitely help with this move. If you’re loosening your trucks and not getting a lot of movement you may need to change the cushions to a softer option.
You’ll definitely need some movement in your trucks to be able to get the edges. Makes sure to adjust them slowly and if you can move the truck with your hands they’re likely too loose.
Would that same skate setup (Roll-Line dance plate with high-heel boot) be perfect for slalom moves like in this video? (Not sure why he used low top/low heel skates...) ua-cam.com/video/zHY3fjTJK_M/v-deo.html&ab_channel=InMoveSkates
It usually depends on the style and skaters preference for heeled verses flat boot. Roll-line are amazing plates so I would always recommend them for agility and response.
It could be that you don’t have movement in your trucks. The trucks are the steering. If they aren’t flexing you won’t have edges. You can loosen them off or change to a softer cushion.
Amazing!
Thank you. It’s lots of fun when it clicks. 🛼😎
Showing how to use the other leg as a counterbalance was especially helpful.
So glad it helped. Sometimes it’s just that one thing that makes everything click into place. Have fun ⭐️🛼😎

Thank you so much, hope that you enjoy your skating journey. xx
Amazing video 📸 like always! Love your hair ❤️ and nice Elf helper. Thanks ☺️ to u both.
👋 thank you. I’m getting used to the brighter hair. The Elf might be making another cameo this week too. 😉
@@Skatie beautiful 🥰
Thank you!!! I did it 😍❤️ one foot for the first time!!!
Yes! Well done! 🏆⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What a fantastic idea! I want to try this too. Sounds like serious fun! Thank you for such a great suggestion 💕⭐️🏄♀️🌊

This is pretty tricky for me for some reason going to keep trying hopefully I can get it one day
Have you got moment in your trucks?
@@Skatie no my trucks are tight. Should I loosen them more?
I loosened my trunks and wow what a difference now I was able to do it yeeeah, I just have to work on my oomph now lol
This is very helpful Katie. Thank you! I have a question for the one foot edge drill, should I only master my dominant leg or the other one as well?
Glad it helped you. Ideally both legs but it’s best to start on the most comfortable leg and then work up to the other one too.

Yes. It definitely Sounds like you have too much grip.
What wheels are those? Just want to check out their edges up close.
Hi. They’re Boiani Star HD70
Would it help to loosen your trucks more?
Definitely. A nice lot of movement in your trucks will definitely help with this move. If you’re loosening your trucks and not getting a lot of movement you may need to change the cushions to a softer option.
Is it important for you to have looser trucks to do this well?
You’ll definitely need some movement in your trucks to be able to get the edges. Makes sure to adjust them slowly and if you can move the truck with your hands they’re likely too loose.
What kind of wheels are you skating on
These are Powell bones 101a. So pretty hard. I always prefer a harder wheel inside but they take some getting used to.
What skates are those?
I wear artistic skates. So these are roll-line dance plate with a Risport custom Cristallo boot and Boiani star wheels.
Would that same skate setup (Roll-Line dance plate with high-heel boot) be perfect for slalom moves like in this video? (Not sure why he used low top/low heel skates...)

The hardest part for me is that the skate doesn't turn.. even if i turned my body😢
My wheels are the sticky ones btw

I experienced this too. Good advice, thank you. 😊
