You're the first I've seen reviewing this new Quilter product on YT and I subscribe to a lot of guitar channels, Go Canada! I love my little Superblock UK but this DirectAmp looks to be insanely versatile! So versatile that I imagine Pat just made his Superblocks obsolete except as a backup power amp hiding in a bag. Sounds great through your FRFR.
@@jimmyjames2022 yeah they seem rare! Haven't seen much on them. I feel the superblocks are their own beasts. This is similar in some features but different enough that my settings from the SB to This are surprisingly different... More experimenting necessary hahaha!
@@calbrockocat8728 it was fine, but the boost doesn't work like I expected. It's not really a Boost it's more of a 2nd Channel, a dirty channel. Need to study these features a little more 🤔
@@rickymize8673 hahaha thanks! I wouldn't know what to do with a bender hahaha! Yeah the only downfall is you can't switch amps with your feet. You have to manually flip the switch!
@j-man9457 I hear ya. Keep this one though, it has a story. Funny how it mutated. It made a good first impression on me but I know that blue was not what you expected and it might've gotten old with me too before long. I repainted a blue Squier Mustang last year, nothing wrong with it but I wanted something else so painted it Imperial White (close enough) and put on a red tortoise pickguard. Like a different thing now. Your Jaymz is the same way, really the same guitar but now it's got attitude. Looks so much better. All business and sounds really good. Cheers from chilly Dallas. Shirtsleeve weather for you.
@@Timtime67 hahaha! Well depending on the kind of player, this in itself could be the pedal board. I realized after the video that the boost isn't really a Boost. It's more like a 2nd Channel. So you have a clean and a dirty channel and with the limiter dial and the switch you could set it so you have clean, dirt, and with limiter off, extra dirt. So 3 tones plus you can flip a switch and change your cab, speaker and amp type. So yeah if you don't require much more than reverb, this directAmp could be your pedal board hahaha!
Have you found the top mounted XLR jacks to be less than optimal on the Quilters? I feel like there must be more strain on the jacks, but could be wrong.
Why not get an ABY pedal, and use 1 of the other Quilters you have with this for a Wet/ Dry/ Wet rig. Your other Quilter would be your centre dry, and this new one would be your wet/ wet left and right with all the reverb/ delay in stereo. This would give you all the hugeness of Stereo with the punch of dry and extra note definition no matter how much reverb your using.
@@Acreusticthanks! I have nothing against the digital stuff but I'm not Techy and most of these units need software upgrades regularly if you want the latest offerings and features and also many of them need IRs to be downloaded for the really good amp sounds. Hate that! This thing is just analog like a pedal. Just plug and play! 😃
@j-man9457 I use a Fender blonde twin tone master amp with 2x12 Celestine neodymium creambacks. I have a small peddleboard with some cheap pedals except for my drop peddle. I also have a digiteac Trio+ i use because i dont gig out anymore. I also have a Boss GT-3 multi effects pedal that i love, and it's old like me. Lol. 👍
@@BenGenderson well I tried bother with my 2 quilter super blocks panning 1 left and the other to the right and honestly it sounds bigger when both amps come out of both speakers🤔. I set one clean and the other right at break up so it's a really cool sound out front. The direct amp has left and right outputs but only 1 input and both outputs share the same amp settings...
@ so you got the best sound after trying out the pan that’s good. I have found the opposite all be it with dual link katana combo amps rather than using the pa board
@BenGenderson yeah cool man no doubt if you are running similar amps and then panning them the sound would be fantastic. On stage when I use a cab with my dual Superblock rig, I run the UK to a WGS Blackhawk speaker, and the US to a Creation alnico Gold speaker. But both speakers are in the same 2x12 cab, just wired independently. So I hear the sound out of both speakers at the same time and I love it. That's why I don't pan out front. I want both amps to come out of both speakers out front 😃
Great review! You should have more subs so I gave you a sub! Do me a favor if you can. I was wanting to know what this Quilter can do with an acoustic guitar. If you have an acoustic guitar try it out in the Quilter and let us know. Thanks 👍🎶
