- AccuTec has owned Personna since 2015 the manufacturer of some of the best double edge razor blades you can buy that are Made in Virginia alongside of all of their medical supplies that they sell to hospitals is what keeps this company thriving? I really couldn't feel a major difference between the two going to have to keep testing to see if there is a difference between the two. Let me know in the comments to check out all of the merchandise in the video click below.

Great Shave and a GREAT SHIRT!! I just got the TRC razor because of this video.
Awesome. Thanks for your support. It is greatly appreciated.
Great Shave Dave! I love the comparison videos you do. It really helps. Keep doing what you are doing😊👍
Thanks brother. Shipping your razor out this week. Very busy week for me
@@OhioShaves That's totally fine. Don't make any special trips. I will get it when I get it. I really appreciate it 🙂
You're so right. Any razor, regardless of what it's made from, should last a lifetime. When I'm done shaving i take the razor apart and remove the blade. I rinse it and dry it and make sure to wipe the threads. Even a zink alloy razor should last with proper care.
That’s a great post shave routine
Thank you for confirming that the TRC brush you've been raving about (and rightfully so based on the video's you have used it in) is back in stock. It has now been ordered in duplicate along with a travel brush tube.
I would also definitely agree that razor is a firm medium. It's borderline too aggressive for me, even with the milder blades in my collection.
When I saw TRC's teaser video for version 2.0 my wallet screamed forget it but my head went 'I've been brassed'. The next version of their razor definitely has my attention.
Great company. Great People
Another great shave, David! Always enjoy your videos and pushing folks to try safety razors if they've been struggling with cartridge razors. Appreciate your work and what you do, so keep up the awesome videos! 😁
Thanks brother
#OhioShavesTRC - i used to use a mach 3, i always thought it was zits on the neck. i watch one of your videos a year plus ago mentioning that issues. so i tried the DE razor and haven't gone back, i have bought them for other people. people have noticed the difference too. thank you for setting me down this path.
That’s a great testimonial, Terry. Thanks for all your support my friend. It is greatly appreciated.
Agree with the experience of stretching too much which does lead to ingrowns. By the way, i use excess lather in my brush like a facewash after the shave but before the alum. It significantly improves the post shave moisturization.
Great tip
Great video, as ever: informative and good fun! How's that TRC razor compare with the Rockwell 6C (which I love, by the way)?
Good question! 6"s are still better because of 3 different plate and 6 razors in one
My understanding is the difference in blades is simply a sanitization step in the manufacturing. The med prep blades are sanitized so they're safe to use for medical purposes. That isn't to say the regular blades aren't clean, but for medical reasons, it's important to go through that extra step. Great shave David. Every time I see the TRC it reminds me of the Henson, but you're right, they were made with entirely different philosophies in mind. I would love to win and try one, so I'll enter #OhioShavesTRC Keep on keeping on brother.
Makes sense to me because I could not tell the difference between the two blades. Thanks for your support and good luck, my friend.
Great comparison video. For an aluminum razor I prefer the Timeless. A&E makes extremely slick soaps. As a matter of fact, I plan to use their Pistachio soap and aftershave. I may try the Woods and Spices. Have a great weekend. 👍
Nice 👍
A&E is one of my top recommendations for shave soap comanies to try when starting out. I'd recommend Stirling Soap Co., Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements, and A&E for shaving products the most overall before delving into other places.
#OhioShavesTRC Awesome video. I've been using the Rockwell 6C on the 3 setting with an Astra Superior Platinum. I just started using the safety razor consistently within the last 6 months and am still unlearning the way I shaved with cartridges and the tips you shared I am looking forward to trying out. I nick myself a little bit on my neck, but get so much less irritation than when using the cartridge razors. Thanks for the video!
That is awesome!
Thanks for another honest comparison, David. Too many DE shave channels would feel forced to choose one or the other, but you admitted that you couldn't. #OhioShavesTRC
I gotta get my hands on some Woods & Spices! You should do a tier list after you review a ton, to rank your favorite aftershaves
Will do!
I haven't tried the TRC Brush, but the PAA Synth brushes are AWESOME, and great value. They're all less than 20 bucks, and range between 24 to 26 mm knots, and have many different shapes and sizes. I'm also a really big fan of the RazoRock BC Silvertip Plissoft Synthetic Shaving Brush which is also less than 20 bucks.
Thanks for sharing
TRC synthetic brush is excellent. I really like it. Took that suggestion from you a few months back and absolutely love it. I still haven't found a shaving soap I totally love. I do think the Proraso Sensitive Shave Soap works better for me than the Leaf Shave puck. I'm still working on encouraging my wife and kids to buy into DE shaving over overpriced and underperforming cartridge systems (not to mention to massive amount of plastic waste, sheesh). The struggle continues.
Good stuff
Rocking that shirt! Love it!
Thanks, brother
#ohioshavestrc
Another super one Dave. Kept my attention for the whole time. Razor looks awesome. Love the finish. Keep em coming.
Thanks, brother
#OhioShavesTRC
Wow it's always something new. I love how much I can learn from you. I'm a beginner and it's so useful watching theese videos.
Thanks for your support brother. It is greatly appreciated.
Nice shave David and congrats to the winners! 👏 🏆🥳
Nice comparison of these blades 👍 I'm most curious about how the new Med-Preps compare with the older version as they are one of my favorites 😎
Thanks for the giveaway opportunity! #OhioShavesTRC
Have a good one!
Steve
Thanks Steve
David, for $12.99, the Razorock Plissoft 24mm Synthetic brush is a hidden treasure. It is the least expensive I own and probably the one I use the most.
Nice
appreciate all the great tips being brand new to the art of safety razor shaving.. struggling to get rid of neck irritation been trying to shave every other day and using proraso white products. Thanks again my friend! #ohioshavestrc
Glad to help. Have you tried a alum block yet? I know for me. It helps with skin irritation, other than just focusing on my technique.
@@OhioShaves yes i have!! It burns my skin a lot but is tolerable, just picked up some witch hazel.. come to think of it all my supplies have been of your recommendation or Matt from Razor Emporium. My routine: proraso white preshave cream then lather with proraso white sensative skin. I then shave with a 6C but still trying out what plate suits me best. All shaves are every other day and with personna blades. Thanks again
*OMG* I just realized how much you and Dominick Lombardozzi (Detective, “Guy” Russo, Amazon Reacher Season 2) look so much alike.
🤩
What it is about the synthetic knots that you like? Great vid!
soft, hold a bunch of water and easy to lather compared to animal hair
#ohioshavestrc, love your videos. I have already made the switch from cartridge to double edge safety razors. Started with the henson, great beginner razor, recently wanted to try the rockwell 6s. Rk blades are decent, they work well with the Henson, but my go to blade(s) for now are the dorco platinum and personna comfort coat.
Love the thayers as well, it's much cheaper then rockwells version. The alum block if I ever get a small cut it does help, but I usually to need rub the alum block more than a few times.
Next thing to try on the list are soaps hah. Thanks for all the recommended videos and affiliate links, makes it easier to shop!!!
Nice testimonial. Thanks for all your support. It is greatly appreciated.
Funny, I just ordered that TRC brush yesterday!
Cool!!
If you like a mild efficient shave like the Karve Overlander I highly recommend the TRC Stainless Steel razor. The TRC SS is fantastic !
It was a great razor and I already gave that away. Stainless steel is definitely a good option
Just bought some Thayers Facial Toner based on your heavy recommendation. So it’s best to use alum block, thayers, then some sort of after shave?
That’s what I do in every shave
@@OhioShaves alright man. Sounds great!! Can’t wait to feel great using that THAYERS!!!! Only wish I had the Rockwell T2 to go along with the shave 👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀
That AccuForge just rocks. Definitely in my top 3…smooth and efficient. Thanks. #OhioShavesTRC
Welcome 😃
Question for you guys.... I typically mild shave with a negative or neutral exposure. I just decided to try positive exposure by putting a Nodachi cap on my Tetara Matsunume base. Tried it for the first 2 times with my usual Derby blades. Not getting Nick's or cuts, but getting some "road rash" on my neck. Also tried riding the cap a bit. Will try Feathers next time. Am I doing something wrong?
Razor and blade combination is what you probably need to figure out. The blade maybe to mild for that setup causing razor burn.
Thanks for the video mate can't get these blades is Australia but if they are worth it Razor Emporium ships to Aus

#ohioshaves trc safety razor
I watch your videos often, got the Henson based off of it. I’m new to the safety razor world, still getting mild irritation but way different than my 5 blade. I’m happy to have switched thank you
That's great news. It took me a minute to get my technique dialed in to get perfect shaves. With the henson I do get more perfect shaves from it than any other razor I have.
@@OhioShavesI’d love to see what you think about the Karve Bison. I’m a huge Henson fanboy but I have to say that the Bison is better. It has the smoothness of the Henson + but more efficient than the Henson ++. It’s my new go-to.
@@graye80 I have the Overlander on order
I haven't tried the bloom water idea yet. What I've been doing is rubbing a quantity of hair conditioner on my stubble just prior to getting out of the shower. I leave it on while I build lather at the sink.
Then I brush on the first soap directly onto the conditioner. Conditioner is pretty slick itself and the soap just adds to it. Honestly, the conditioner is good enough by itself for the first pass without soap.
Maybe in a pinch, but I really do enjoy the sense of all these artisan soaps. And the slickness is off the chain.
I picked it up over the winter. It is still in my rotation. The only odd thing is loading the razor then again loading the Parker single edge without the magnet is as well. The razor doesn’t give the angle like a Henson does but is as efficient if you get the angle. I haven’t tried the ss version but the geometry is different than the aluminum one (similar to what alysworth did with the apex where the ss is a lot more aggressive than the aluminum one)
👍
Is that TRC black similar to the Henson AL13? Which shaves better? Also have you tried the Yates Winning Razor? It looks similar to the Henson style but it's stainless steel.
Jake hasn't sent me the winning razor yet. But with my experience with Yeats precision, they make some really good razors.
Ok. I hope they send you one. I tried the Yates merica razor based on your review and love it. But I want to try the winning razor too.
Kind of have to wonder if they may actually be the same blade. Perhaps that why the blades are not labeled. Looking forward to you repeating this with the Henson.
I’m thinking the same here. I couldn’t tell the difference. One subscriber mentioned that they dip the med prep blades in a solution to sterilize them for medical use. I will have to do some research to see if that is true. Makes sense to me, but I need to doublecheck.
Nice shave-off/comparison. BTW, most Walmarts carry the Thayers for around $8, and they usually have a large selection of the different scents. #OhioShavesTRC
Thanks for letting us know
The woods and spices is so good. I sprung for the EDP at the A&E meet up. It delivers.

Thank you much
You know a razor you should show that have replaceable blades The Goodfellas Smile - Shibumi - Japanese Style Free-Hand Shavette Razor.
That would be cool to see what your thoughts on that razor would be.
One of these days. Great suggestion.
Best I can understand is, the alum block being an astringent, makes the superficial blood vessels constrict, including the tiny cuts which may have been occurred from the shave. (Also maybe helps in making the tiny cuts to clot and close.)
👍
#OhioShavesTRC I have the Henson, I'm looking forward to checking this one out for the medium agression. Good price too.
Winner for sure
#ohioshavesTRC I have noticed you stopped using preshave oil when I started using it based on your recommendations. I actually noticed less razor burn when using oil. Or maybe it's just an improved technique, not sure :) Is there any reason you do not use oil anymore?
I still use it just not on every shave. Specially when I’m trying to compare two different things I don’t really want to help out a razor or a blade. Hope that makes sense.
Great shave. Love the comparison video. #OhioShaves TRC
Thanks 👍
What's the difference between the RED personna blades and the regular personna blades. Some are made in Germany and some in USA. Which are better?
I like the personna comfort coats the best.

Great. Thank you!
Mu top 3 safety razors-1st is Rockwell 6S, 2nd Rockwell 6C, 3rd is Merkur 34g. Rockwell Razors are demolishing most of the competition. I like my 4 German safety razors a ton… still Rockwell is better.

Great video!
Quick question. Is Leaf still your favorite razor for head shaves or you have a new favorite?
It’s still the easiest way to shave my head
Are there now 3 types of Personna blades? Comfort Coated, Lab Blues, and Med Preps? I find it all very confusing.
CC, AccuForge, AccuThive Med Preps and Personna Platinum made in Germany
@@OhioShaves So to clarify AccuForge, Comfort Coated, & AccuThrive Prep blades are made in the USA while Personna Platinum blades are made in Germany. Correct?
#ohioshavesTRC great video! Got Phillips soap. It's great! Thanks Dave

#OhioShavesTRC - thanks for another great vid! Would love to hear your take on Wizmet Irridium blades.
Great suggestion!
#ohioshavestrc Great vid! I like that these aluminum razors are a little less dough (I think?) than the ShmHenson razors. :D Also loving the made in USA blades.
Me too
A whole bunch of advice here!
Sharing my experience in a very detailed manner
TRC Alu is fantastic, I prefer this to his stainless brother
I already gave that one away, but it was a great razor. Good call.
#ohioshavesTRC
Love the comparison. what are the persona lab blues you were talking about?
It's the new AccuForge blades
@@OhioShaves were the accuforge blades previously the personna platinum chrome stainless steel blades before the name change?
That persona is made in Germany used to be made in Israel. It’s a totally different blade.
@@OhioShaves I’m confused, could you do a future video breakdown of all the personna blades, old and new ones?
#OhioShavesTRC Great content as always. My only issue with those blades is the price.
They’re not cheap but made in the USA👍👍
I feel like it's sometimes hard to get a thick lather when strictly face lathering. I think it's a lot quicker to bowl lather and then transition into face lathering. Best of both worlds while saving time.
👍
David I just have a shave WITH A Doble eage blade name DORCO BLADES and got a great shave try it out to know youre opinion 1000 blades for $65.00 !!!!!you got Blades for a least 3 years shaving every day ,I use with the Rockwell in 6 plate and with Henson more agresive Razor with Muhle r41 , Parker and it work great only two pases !!! #OhioShavesTRC Are the comfort coats sticking around? Or are they going to become something else?

Peter makes some really good soaps. I wish I could've made it up to Connecticut.

Welcome. Thanks for your support
For the cost of these two blades, do a comparison to Feather. If I’m going to pay that much, I want to know what I’m getting. Especially since the packaging says Personna.
what's wrong with personna?
@@OhioShaves Nothing. I just don’t typically equate personna to blades costing over $40.00 per 100 count. For example, Amazon has 200 personna for $27.66
So, are these Accu_____ insert secondary name just upgraded quality / coating / something personna’s?
#OhioShavesTRC nice vid and comparison! I always thought the med preps were sharper but maybe not
I couldn't tell a difference but again I don't shave with this razor that much.
