This song was on the playlist I was listening to on my first intercontinental flight ever. I listened to it the whole trip. It's been special to me ever since as a symbol of doing what I was terrified of and breaking out of my comfort zone. It's been my traditional song to listen to during plane take-offs since.
God this is such a great song. I keep coming back to it and I'm so thankful that the folks scene is accepting of humanity. Thank you for this wonderful piece of artistry and compassion 💜🔥🙏
I didn't think it was possible to love this song more than I already did and then I found out what it was actually about... found out it is possible after all. Love ya work! Keep it up
Saw you playing in the streets of York at the Jorvik viking festival last february, a truly great moment !! Cant stop listening to your album since then, discovering little gems in the lyrics such as this song ! I wish you all the best
Wow! I discovered you guys only yesterday but I've had Hide and Hair in repeat since and the meaning of this song just now clicked for me and I love it so much!! I was listening to this on Spotify when I had the realization and came here to confirm my suspicions and I'm so happy I was correct. I'm a trans man myself and it's always great to find songs telling our stories just like any story that deserves to be told. (Really glad Spotify recommended this album to me and I actually listened to it instead of ignoring their recommendations like I always do haha)
I think this may just be the best song of all time. Admittedly I am a bit drunk but I will still think that when I am sober. If, if I am sober. Superb.
As a transwoman who wishes to pursue her dreams of making music, with plans to leave a small town (in the US) for London, with an already strong attachment to Camden from previous visits, this hits almost weirdly close to home.
Saw you guys recently in Southport. I was the one who asked if you were playing this song during the interval, and jokingly raised my hand when you asked if anyone was from Macedonia. One of the people in my group was a gentleman who had never heard of you before, but he had a wonderful time. You seem like such nice lads, and I'm hopeful you'll be even more successful in the future - you deserve every part of it.
saw you lovely lads last year at the Swanage Folk Festival ..we listen to your cd all the time and are desperate for another one ..hope to see you this year ...you are a brilliant folk band ...luv you guys x
You guys are amazing! I found about you through Spotify's Discover feature. Took me 20 seconds into Difyrrwch to add you to my favourites list, and man, you're on repeat for a month now! Iwish you could come to Israel once this COVID19 thing is over... Really waiting for your next album...
Brilliant. I saw you at Between the Trees, the last band of the festival for me, and I'm so glad I stayed to see you. You've been on loop on Napster ever since, I have managed to learn lots of your lyrics in the last 3 days, haha! Hope to see you at Acapella in Pentyrch later this month :)
Hey. No idea if you read these comments but... I'm coming to see you perform in Beverley in a few weeks. If you decide to have this song in your setlist then you'll have (at least) one happy trans woman in your audience that day. ^_^
@@TheTrialsofCato Hey! I really enjoyed seeing you (and The Magpies) performing today. You were excellent. Thanks for playing Gloria too! I sang along. Didn't have time to say hello after the show (the merch table was quite crowded) but I did manage to add my name and email to the mailing list. Hope to see you again some time. :)
We have shared this and links to help get the Garforth folk behind your potential award for BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards (Horizon award and Best Album) - we hope it gets you some votes as you are a brilliant band - Good luck all
Nick Siepmann Yes it is. Its based on a TS performer called Gloria they met in a pub in Yorkshire. They learned her story and made this song in her honour. Its brilliant, isn't it?
What's the song that goes ding ding ding ding-a-linga-linga-linga linga ding ding ding, ding a ling-aling-alinggg and then it repeats? Heard it Cambridge, want to hear again. Think that's a pretty accurate description.

You guys are fast becoming my favourite new folk discovery! Is this song based on a true story, by the way?
Nick Siepmann Yes it is. Its based on a TS performer called Gloria they met in a pub in Yorkshire.

@@Laou41 do you have a source for this? i've been searching all over on their fb and twitter without finding any mention of this :)
@@GabZonY There is no official record. I know them personally.
@@Laou41 ah, that makes sense :)
@@GabZonY They mention this in their Folk by the Oak interview, starting at around 6:45. ua-cam.com/video/Rhie-PJvuZA/v-deo.html

You can listen to their entire album on Spotify if you have that.
Edit: or here; I've just realised they also uploaded it to youtube 😅
😂😂😂 pretty sure it's Difyrrwch, first song on the album
I really want to learn how to play this but I can’t figure out the chords
With the capo on the third fret the only chord shapes you need at C F G and Am. you should be able to work it out from there. :)
Its on the ultimate guitar tab app
I absolutely love this track may I ask I this song about a wonderful folk artist initially G.T. who came out as gloria absolutely love her too??
Я че здесь один с России? Ну ладн....кароч шикарная песня!
Guys you are amazing. Love your songs. God Bless you all. Go play in Ireland. Contact Mary Blacks husband. Joe O' Reilly will promote you all.
huh, my music teacher got good taste in music NGL...
My mum likes this
Realising this is a trans affirmation song since coming out as a Trans Non-Binary Man makes... Everything make so much more sense now 😂
Trust in Christ. He can deliver you from this confusion as He did me.

This song makes me think that I can live happy as a trans woman ❤🏳️⚧️
