As you mentioned, anyone passing through LV would play with them, Frank DiMino (Angel), Stephen Pearcy, Stacey Blades, the guys from Last in Line, Counts 77, and many others. During the part in the video when you were talking about Riley's LA Guns, the guitar player you didn't know the name of is Scott Griffin. He was with LA Guns part of the time when Stacey Blades was in the group (he's a great player). Scott went on to take over Sin City Sinners with the manager, Jason Green (an interesting person to talk to) and were very active up until Covid came along. In 91 Steve Riley was semi managing the band and him and Tracii trademarked the L.A. Guns name, since Tracii had never actually did it. On that album with Kris Van Dahl on vocals, the want to be Pantera one, lol, if you look on the record and merch it isnt L.A. Guns, it is LA Guns due to some contractual problem with Phil and Kelly. But the reason Steve had a version and Tracii did was cause them two alone owned the trademark. Right before Steve died, they went to court and Tracii won back the rights which is why Steve and Kelly's version is now called Riley's L.A. Guns.
Hair metal lasted twice as long as grunge did. Grunge hit big in 92 and was done 3 years later because people was sick of being depressed and didn’t even know why they were depressed just because the grunge bands said they should be lol. Long live 80’s rock and roll🤘🏼
Hey Man, cool channel, yes L.A Guns has had a bunch of members, but as long as Tracii and Phil are together its L.A Guns. Their first 3 albums are awesome. Actually L.A. Guns last 4 albums are really good too, you should check them out. Cheers from Howard Beach Queens.

@IanScottoRocks I think they looked around and saw how well heavier stuff was doing. Not so much the wave of Grunge but more like Skid Rows "Slave To The Grind" and bands like Mind Funk. It's a good record music wise and they looked cool also. Great video btw.

Where the big split between Sixx and Guns was Tracii was selling Nikki's old equipment he left on E Bay. Guns has always had a bad habit spending other's money. He still owes Dillana a bunch of money, she paid on her credit card for the motels and gas on the short tour she did with them and he never paid her back.
Tracii is a true rock n roller. He deserves more fame for his talent. But I think he's paying the bills. I agree with one thing and more but one thing 100%. The band is Phil and Tracii. But it's also Cripps and Nickols. They were a huge part of the sound.
I tour managed, was a one man drum tech, bass tech ,guitar tech, stage manager, babysitter for LA Guns , with Michael Grant, Kenny Kweens, Steve Riley, and Phil, Kenny & Steve were the only two who have their shit together. What a cluster fuck, drama, dysfunctional circus. The stories Phil, Steve told me about Guns, X members, what I witnessed regarding Phil, fucking Viagra popping snake in the grass.
@ I can tell you a thousand true stories about sabotage, ass rape in Finland on a girl, bands coming to me to find Phil, because of his mouth. let’s not forget the famous we need more princes in the world racist remark, standing at a rest stop in New Jersey debating on no publicity versus publicity, under age girls or girls old enough to be Phil’s granddaughters. When you say dysfunctional that word is a understatement.
I get the whole get out there and see these legacy bands before it's to late, but the message really should be get out there and support your local music scenes. With the demise of the record industry that we grew up with, the over saturation of new musical acts online, and the lack of competition from touring bands things are looking bleak in 20yrs. I don't think or will I say hard rock/metal will die. But even with in the umbrella of metal some subgenres are doing better than others. I grew up listening to the hair bands then as a preteen got into thrash and then high school death metal, I still go for death metal. There are new bands still forming to this day playing death metal. If there are hair bands forming in 2024 they need to figure out marketing, because if it's any good I would listen. This youtube creater would listen and anybody who bought a ticket to Rockahoma or those festivals that cater to the 80s hard rock/metal at the time would listen. I know I saw younger kids at those shows. Pick up an instrument and practice. If you are good enough but it's money that is the issue, you have a market for a band like LA Guns ripe for the picking. No one is playing this kind of music but the genre deserves to not go by the way side. It isn't tired old music. Keep it going just don't falter or become a parody. We have one really good parody and that is good enough.

Michael Grant was Awesome , and was doing a Stellar job as the lead guitarist in LA Guns before Tracii came back. I then saw LA Guns twice with Michael and Tracii. I Loved it. They were getting along great. Then Phil fired Michael for no apparent reason. Before he was in LA Guns, Michael had a great band called Endeverafter.
Yeah, I remember Tracii saying it wasn't his decision. All I know is that the album he was on was their best of the reunion albums. I don't think it's coincidence.
@IanScottoRocks I am not really a fan of Eddie Trunk, but there is an interview between Trunk and Michael here on YT where Michael has just been fired and is really down during the interview. He's a good dude, and a hell of a showman and all around nice guy. He spent a lot of time with fans after those two shows. But Phil and Tracii have always been super nice to me. Tracii threw me his credit card while playing a Les Paul with one hand, and told be to get him some Jack Daniels and whatever I wanted from the bar lol.
Aside from all the LA Guns stuff, overall, I think they out produced G n R in terms of production and quality to now, 2024. Concerts aside, the music from LAG over the years adds up quite well.
Your timeline needs some adjusting. Tracii was originally not part of Vicious Circle recording. That was a Phil, Kelly and Mick project. but once Polygram found out Tracii wasn't a part of it they threatened legal action which literally forced him back in the band. That's why there are so many different players on that album it was a fractured band at the time. When they rebranded themselves "THE L.A. Guns" for American Hardcore era, Kelly Nickles was still with the band but quit after Polygram dropped them. Johnny Crypt then just moved over from rhythm guitar to bass.
Hey Ian, cool video - you have a new subscriber. However you kinda (?) "forgot" Paul Black's LA Guns, which then would be the FOURTH version...😂😅 Pretty sure you know there was another singer before Phil! Also BLACK CHERRY was a better band than 50% of them all getting (major) deals back then... It's a shame only a few knew... Kind regards from Germany PS: To make it even more complicated, Paul Black was the lead singer in Tracii Guns LA Guns 2006-2008 😊😅
Tracii f'in Guns mentioned that he helped Steve financially by giving him half ownership of the name LA Guns. Then Steve started to rip off Tracii money wise. That's when Tracii left and joined Nikki Sixx. Tracii then had his different singers until Phil and him had a reunion in Vegas with Sin City Sinners. They rekindled their friendship and Tracii said that Phil always has the right to sing LA Guns songs and it was Tracii and Steve's beef with each other that made 2 versions. Phil & Michael Grant quit Steve's version to officially join Tracii because they remembered they enjoy working together. Tracii can still do other projects while Phil wait patiently without having another LA Guns version 😂 Tracii Guns won in court to have the rights on the name LA Guns. I think he should do it also with GNR to take his name out of it 🤣 They really are Hollywood Rose. It's also awesome to know that back in the day Tracii, Slash, Gilby Clarke and Ryan Roxie (Alice Cooper) were all friends to begin with. Ok, that's what I can remember regarding the LA Guns name. Tracii being generous to others that end up biting him in the ass. Great to see Phil and Tracii are back together making kick ass records. GNR may have the $$$$ but LAG are still putting quality records with a singer that can sing, IMO.
I was into LA Guns before guns n roses my favourite song was you give me one more reason to die. I don’t know why people say in the early 90’s pearl jam and nirvana killed metal when Metallica releases the black album with EnterSandman on it you also had Depeche Mode a British pop synth band with the album violator smashing records and Depeche Mode went on to have the biggest and craziest gigs or concerts with so much drugs and alcohol abused for almost a year Dave Gahan the lead singer almost died and Fletch couldn’t finish the tour. The real fans well we never left our favourite bands. Megadeth was doing good Iron Maiden got a bit lost but still played on. My wife, daughter and sister are going to see Pearl Jam tonight in Sydney it’s the 21st of November 2024 right now. The Pixies are supporting them.
Thank God for Kurt Cobain. I did love LA Guns first record though. Traci Guns wins the award for stupidest haircut in world history in the Ballad of Jayne video.
I love Trump and LA Guns. I don't look to musicians for where the country should be going. They should stay in their lane...or at least not insult the other side. No one likes to be dissed. I like what Elvis had to say on that subject matter
LA Guns are not the most dysfunctional band ever. Just off the top of my head, try Mayhem. And no Pearl Jam album ever changed the trajectory of music.
I love all types of music grew up in the 60's 70's... I got into fusion when it came out in early to mid 70's I was also into real punk like The Stooges.. Dead Boys to John McLaughlin to The Carpenters to tchaikovsky. But never got into this kinda phony rock.

Also BLACK CHERRY was a better band than 50% of them all getting (major) deals back then... It's a shame only a few knew...
Kind regards from Germany
PS: To make it even more complicated, Paul Black was the lead singer in Tracii Guns LA Guns 2006-2008 😊😅
A FOURTH LA Guns!? 🤯
Damn most dysfunctional ever ? That's saying a lot.
Singer from Babylon A.D.: Derek Davis. You're welcome.
Love me LA Guns - not that dysfunctional, they're still going right?
If it had Phil and a group of guys or TG and some misfits or the 2 master Guns together which is best but Rileys LAGs thats way too watered down
did not joe was in l.a.guns lol i got drunk with him in 2011 i have video with him hanging out
ROXY PETRUCCI IS A DRUMMER HER REAL NAME IS DORA.
Thank God for Kurt Cobain. I did love LA Guns first record though. Traci Guns wins the award for stupidest haircut in world history in the Ballad of Jayne video.
Lol Traciis Haircut was from Grunge scene you Moron😅😅😅😅 Sonic Youth had it first its a 90s thing 😅 the was way ahead of their time
And Kurt suxx,AIC Soundgarden was real Deal ,Nirvana was for Richie Rich Kids 😅
I love Trump and LA Guns.
I don't look to musicians for where the country should be going.
They should stay in their lane...or at least not insult the other side. No one likes to be dissed.
I like what Elvis had to say on that subject matter
Satan's Chicken!
Roxy petrucci plays drums dude, not bass.
@@twoinfla Look at the video, I corrected it on there
@IanScottoRocks sorry bud, must've missed it.
What makes it phony? 🙄
Most dysfunctional band ever?
Got em mixed up with Guns N’ Roses.
Artists, even wanna bee s need to stay in yo lane..... just say no to bullshit .
If they made good song they could be popular but they don’t
@@travisrhodes1068 You mean to tell me you’re a rock fan and don’t like ANYTHING on the first three albums or Missing Peace!? This is like when people tell me they don’t like KISS.
You should of showed the footage of Tracii a couple years ago where he played from the bathroom cause the stage was too hot and humid for him, lol. They did the whole show that way, Ace, Phil, Johnny and (who knows what drummer) were all on stage and there was Tracii sitting in the shitter, rocking out. I love the band but they are so fucked up, yet they wouldnt be L.A. Guns if they were not so dysfucntional.
40 seconds in and you are already so wrong, lol. L.A. Guns are known for the hit songs they had in the late 80's, and Guns N' Roses comes from two bands, Hollywood Rose and L.A. Guns, not Axl and Tracii.
Hollywood Rose was named after Axl, and L.A.Guns were named after Traci Gunns. So where did he go wrong?
@@HaXaW5150 Because they did not name the band after the two members he said that they did.
