Folks, thank you so much for watching! It means the world to me so many people are apart of this channel! Just a quick reminder that there is still a lot of scammers pretending to be me in the comments. Any comments claiming you’ve one a giveaway or a prize of some sort is NOT ME. God bless you all!!!
I love your videos Richard! I like all your different techniques and how you keep it simple. I also love how many daiwa reels you use, I got a bunch of them and they are so smooth. You remind me of fishin with my old man. Keep it up sir!
Yea so Ive been catchin a ton of crappies on neon pink trout magnets. Two best colors for me right now have been pink and gold. Hope that helps someone reading this because it’s been awesome for me.
Just went fishin' today here in Gadsden, Alabama and caught several crappie on night crawlers. I thought they were blind crappie...lol. Now I'm watching you talk about fishin' for crappie with worms. WOOOOO!! ROLL TIDE!!! I love your channel Richard Gene.
Hello sir from Ohio. I don’t usually subscribe to many channels at all, but your channel, and this video in particular, got me to click the subscribe button and hit the thumbs up quicker than I ever have any other channel. This is some really great advice here. And believe it or not more fisherman overlook this technique than you could believe. At least more than are willing to admit it 😂. It’s not only because the crappie will at certain times absolutely crush worms, but it also shows a technique that can be extremely productive when anything and everything will just not work. It’s a great technique especially in heavily pressured and overly fished areas. I also use it to land very finicky monster red ears and those bull bluegills. I use it sometimes with micro baits as well when the majority of the folks just aren’t catching ‘em. A great technique with worms, crickets, grubs, and even leeches. There’s a lot of folks in the comment section that are saying things like “Well no crap worms are good for catching fish” and that “crappies feed on anything when their schooled up and hungry” and that may be true. But try this technique when everyone else isn’t catching them left and right. That’s when this technique will absolutely work the best given the right bait on the end of your line. And I have to add that I absolutely loved your perspective and your take on how we have become so reliant on technology and the fact that common sense isn’t needed in a lot of the things we do today. So much of the simple way of life and not overthinking everything we do is just not there anymore. I for one miss it badly. This is a very good video with an even better message behind it. Listening to you talk reminds me so much of my father who is saving a spot for me up where the fish are as big as you say they are, and their always biting. I thank you for that! New sub -R.W Ohio
Ive caught crappie on worms this week. Ive even caught them in the winter at depths on nightcrawlers. Ive caught crappie on a fly rod. Ive caught them on my bass setups. They’re voracious feeders. Love crappie!
We used to do this when I was a kid. The only problems is that we have so many of the little green sunfish that never get very big that just steal worms that it can become frustrating. They are like little demons that seems to hit before anything else even has a chance. We would literally go through a couple of coffee cans full of worms we dug, just to get a decent mess of bluegill. The only time I fish with worms now, is when bluegill are spawning and they protect their beds and will keep those little brats away, or at least thin them out.
Richard, like your videos. Been fishing crappie and other fish for over 50 years, and still tune in when find out about a fishing video. Have fished Fla to Washington State, Montana to Nm and Texas, as well as point in between. Still find things that catch my interest. Only really have one problem, as live in SW NM. It is not catching crappie, can do that. The problem is turned wife on to eating crappie 5 years ago. Then she turned her then 4 yr. old granddaughter onto eating them. Now they dont want to share. I can eat the other fish but leave the crappie alone.
I want to see how you fillet your panfish and I really want to see Mamma Sue's recipes!! I can't wait for the day that a catch and cook video pops up on your feed.
I'm glad you made this video. My wife and I caught a bunch of crappie on worms last year. When we told people about it we just got a funny look from them. God bless my friend and tight lines.
I was ice fishing on the Canadian border this winter. Tried earthworms for Perch but they wouldn't bite whereas they were going crazy for the white worms, maggots. I think it's because the earthworms were packed with earth and crap all throughout. Perch was just being picky...
One time me and my father went fishing at Lake Hartwell in Anderson, SC. He caught some humongous crappie on worms under a bobber! I miss fishing with him. I wish I lived next door to you!
Richard Richard the man the fish whisper I can say of all the tv fishermen shows I would just soon as to watch yours. And I’ve watch watch a ton of them over the years. God bless you.
Richard that was probably one of the more unique videos I have seen! Catching crappie on night crawlers! Wow! You were up their like you were teaching a class! Loved it. Catching crappie on night crawlers what technique.
What else can I say except another outstanding vidio! Thanks for another great fishing adventure and comedy to boot! GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY from a fellow fisherman from PENNSYLVANIA!
A for sure seasoned fisherman. I love your vids. Esp how you said how we over analyze which I'm so guilty of. Go Richard Gene The Fishing Machine! Thank you for your knowledge!
I’ve used all kind of line fishing for crappie, bluegill, red ear, yellow perch, trout etc. I’ve come full circle and now I use what I started with Berkeley Trilene clear!!!!!
Another goodun brother Gene. I've caught Crappie on about everything but a top water rig. I guess if they were hungry enough, they would go after them, too. I still like minnows an small jigs. I love my underspins. Buddy, I hope you have Mamma Sue happy now. I'd sure hate for her to send you back for more, she might put some of them pop knots on yer noggin. Brother, I hope you know how much we enjoy and appreciate these videos. God bless you and your family, brother, and have a blessed day.
I am semi-retired and new to fishing in a small country town in Wyoming. Last year, I've started purchasing some fishing equipment and only able right now, to fish at 2 local small lakes close to my home. I can only fish by shore and have no boats, etc. Since most of the fish breeds might be: cat fish, crappie, bass, walleye and maybe trout... I'm not sure how well they are stock the lake each year? I currently have 2 spinning reals and a good start of different lures right now. Since I don’t really have to many friends to go fishing all the time... I need to really understand each breed., swimming habits, best type of baits to use and fishing techniques. I came across this first on crappie fishing on UA-cam. I look forward in seeing your other UA-cam channels on other breeds to. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. I am also looking forward in April to start fishing again. I had "zero" success last year.
It's tough fishing at Sylvania I've fished there all my life and I'm 50. You really done something when you catch that many in a day. Love your videos. Keep them coming. God bless you
Great video Richard. I have caught lots of crappie on worms since I was boy. I just recently was telling a good fishing buddy what I was catching them on night crawlers and he couldn’t hardly believe it. God bless you Richard. WOOOOO
Worms are perfect for this, but, there used to be a Lure that Blue Fox used to make, a small, fat, white grub with legs you could pull off, and a short pink skirt. I used to catch a crappie on just about every cast using it on the Kern river. Those were river crappie, white crappies, in fast water, and it was as much fun as catching trout.
Awesome video Richard. I member bluegill fishin with my Grampa n Great aunt n catchin crappi too. Gonna have to give it a shot again this year. Thnx RGTFM for remindin me n lettin me tag along with ya on your adventure, I enjoyed it
When the water got down low here in Texas and I was fishing a dirty water Crappie hole I decided to do your method. I could only get my hands on red wigglers but I hooked them like you said and was catching keeper crappie sure enough. I love when I find a new technique set out to do it and it works like textbook. Only from Richard Gene
I've been going out to my local lake and they built a new pier and alot of people been catching tons of crappie but I'll have the bobby garland crappie lures I'll catch one keeper and won't catch anything else and this older man uses the same lures as I do and he will be catching big crappie I'll use live minnows and I won't get no luck I've been watching your crappie videos and it's been helping me out I've been subscribed to your channel for 5 years now
Thank you for sharing. I was hoping you would have a crappie video using worms. Because i have caught more crappie or all fish using worms way way more then any thing else. God bless you sir and your whole family...🙏❤🙏❤🙏😊🙂😀
Good to see you back at Dekalb… I’ve caught a few on worms before. I guess they’ll feed on whatever falls in front of em… I’ve had a lot of luck on a monkey milk Bobby garland too fishing the edge of the weed beds. Great video Richard, that lake is beautiful.
Good video and thanks for taking us along. I'd almost say Richard that you could go deep sea fishing and they would be crappie there waiting on you. Would almost say. Haha. Thank you and God bless you and yours

Nightcrawlers catch about anything but it's not the typical bait you usually associate with croppies. I'm very glad you still call em croppies, and not crappies. Thanks for all the videos. God bless you, Richard.
I've heard it both ways. In East Texas we say Crappie. Wally Marshall, Mr. Crappie, calls them crappie. He would know.
In North Carolina, they look at you funny if you say crappie instead of 'crappy'. I'm always getting 'corrected' 😂
Good supper for RG and Mama Sue!
Used this method today at my local pond and came away with way more bluegill which is to be expected there, but still had some crappies intermixed as well. Thanks for the tip! I’d love some ideas on how to cast further with weightless rigs! Thanks Richard!
A light action rod will help. I’ve been trying to figure it out too. There’s special light reels that’ll help too. Also line choice plays a big roll braid helping the most. To get the jig out there I’ve been adding a small weighted bobbers. Personally love the white and red ones
God bless ya Richard, have a wonderful day
One of my favorite lakes to fish! Great video, sir!
