I owned JCM900 for 20+ years and sold it only out of necessity. I wonder how many people knock the amp without even trying it lol. It is a top end amp. People think it is not a good amp because it also has transistor clipping when you crank the gain in addition to tube gain. The same people that think this is bad then throw a transistor based distortion pedal in front of their amp.
I've had 800s, 900s, 2000s and the one I regretted selling the most in hindsight was the 900. With a proper cab it is absolutely killer.
I got the JVM pedal because I always wanted to get this amp. Brillant pedal! Highest gain of the series. But it also shines in crunch! Very enjoyable!
I bought my first JCM900 Model 4500 back in about 95 or 96. I own an 800, and a 2000, as well a couple of Boogies, a couple of EVHs, and several others. The 900 is, and always has been my favorite amp. 🤷♂
Only people that never played a JCM900 with a 2x12 or 4x12 with the volume up dont like it.
Best sounding amp ive ever heard in a band setting live is the 4100. It sounds SO good.
im 51... your jams really took me back Sir... Thank you for that...
Amazing demo, really nailed tones! Sounds fantastic. I think Marshall nailed it with these. I have my 900 pedal on order. And they did it at a great price! I would have thought these would be $250.
Just got the 800 pedal today and it’s epic. Think I may need the 900. Would u say I should get it if have the 800. Play in a covers band do alot of indie rock. Another top video. Some tasty riffage
Where did you get it? Sweetwater seems to just have it for pre-order and Reverb doesn’t have it.
@ I’m in the UK and got it from fair deal music . Think due to coverage from NAMM the very limited units available have been snapped up. Stateside if Sweetwater have it on pre order not sure where else you would pick it up apart from some small retailers
Cool jams..I thought it sounded pretty good. What was the rest of your signal chain? (What came after the Marshall pedal)?
This pedal sounds fantastic! People need to use their ears instead of reading others opinions and basing everything off of that.
Sounds great, loved it with the tele. I got the 1959 super lead pedal, done a wee demo on my channel. Absolutely love it too. Think I'll likely get the 800 at some point. But this 900 seems to sound great too.
maybe i missed it, what were you running the pedal into or what was the signal setup ? thanks
i think initially they might have gotten some flack, just like the 2 channel JCM800 with diode clipping and all that, but good tones could be found in all sorts of Marshalls over the years, the SL-X variant is killer too, it's maybe just not as iconic as some of their other amps
Can you demo the 800 next?
I’m buying the JCM900 Studio, but this pedal could be useful. Essentially a dialled in third channel.
It was the perfect amplifier for late 80s and 90s. Unfortunately, it was little too late to the game. It arrived in the early grunge era, so it sales potential and use by big names was limited. Its the best 80s metal amp that was launched in the 90s.
Yo dawg, I hear you want a pedal that doesn't take other pedals well.
The 900 attempted to remove the need for gain pedals.
It doesn't sound bad outside of incompatible circuits.
My favorite It's the JCM800. But the JCM900 MK III It´s reaaaaally good
The appeal of the 900 was you could get a full tube full power Marshall at a decent price. No one ever said it was a sound worth chasing. That said I miss my master volume Mark III.
Great video. But are we really questioning the 900 pedal when the DSL pedals costs about the same as a 2nd hand DSL amp now?
Space savings
Owned a JCM900 2500 mkIII. Definitely regret selling it.
Plenty of HGDR sounds in there, but like you, that was my least favourite variant.
Nice that they’ve followed Flattley pedals lead and used HALO diffuser for the LED around the On/Off switch.
You sound like you form your opinion from guitar forums. JCM900 kills.
People rag on Marshall stating that they don't create anything new and live off the legacy of the Amps they built in the 60s 70s and ealry 800s and whine that all they have are JTM 45s 1959 Superleads Bluesbreakers JMP 2203 JMP 2204 JCM 800 etc but anytime they created something new and more modern the same complainers would pitch a fit acting like any JCM that didn't start with the number 8 was giving them PTSD .
Show us using the dolly where the JCM 900 and 2000 hurt you
The DSL tried to touch my no no spot 😅
The great thing about a 900 is remove 2 parts and jumper over another and all the bottom end comes alive in the red channel.
I always wanted a JCM 900 cuz the best album from japanese Rock , the lead guitar used this.. then i found ppl hate jcm 900. Is weird maybe to know JCM 900 sound better is u play crunch and not metal.
Hello from Minot nd usa
dude dont ruin it, 900's being cheap is sick
Marshall sold out to a Chinese investor for $1 billion.
No thanks
You're buying guitar stuff, not Comrade Xi. It'll all be fine
