He had quite an interesting life…and was the first farmer in the UK to pioneer the Pick Your Own fruit concept, & he also appeared in many famous radio & TV shows including the first ever episode of Countdown on Channel 4. Sadly he committed suicide (in 1986) a year after this Everest TV ad was shown.
