Fun fact: Heath actually made Christian Bale beat him up in this scene to make it more realistic, and it was more realistic because he actually did beat the crap out of Heath here
The big thing I didn’t notice till later is that the joker switched the locations. He knew Batman would go after Rachel, while Gordon would go after Dent. Out of the two only Batman stood any chance of saving anyone, so the joker lied about who was where. Batman saved Dent barely, Rachel died, and the joker inflicted maximum devastation physically, mentally, and emotionally.
The Joker always had a switch to throw people off and create more Chaos. He switched the addresses, he switched the clowns and hostages, and you know that he set up the ferries so that if *anyone* used the detonator, both ferries would blow up.
Just to add to that, he needed Batman to save Dent in order to carry out the rest of his plan of corrupting Dent. Rachel was expendable and plus her death would even further drive Dent to madness.
I saw this opening weekend. To say everyone was terrified of the Joker is an understatement. “You have nothing. Nothing to threaten me with” And he was right. And that’s the worst part
I was there opening night. Every time the Joker was on screen, I got f'ing nervous. Ledger was just... amazing. There is nothing else to say. Batman is supposed to be the safety blanket, but even when Bats was there, I wondered how far the Joker was gonna take it. RIP Heath Ledger. You won.
"You'll see. When the chips are down; these "civilized" people; they'll eat each other." Probably the most terrifying quote in the movie, considering how real that applies to real life.

Techincally they did; I have seen a video of Mark recreating Heath's Joker quotes with Mark's classic Joker voice. And I believe if this happened as well or not, Kevin joined in and did his classic Batman voice, using Bale's Batman quotes.
The scary part is Joker is right. Riots, that TP thing during the 2020 situation, we will eat each other. Elites inserting their talking points in Joker's dialogue "Chaos, Anarchy" as the order, telling the masses exactly what they think about us. And they're right, that's the bad joke.
yo creo q esta pelicula debio recibir muchas estatuillas de oscar..a pesar q es ficcion es bastante convincente y atrapa al espectador de comienzo a fin
When the chips are down These civilized people They'll eat each other I think we already experienced during covid pandemic People literally fight one another over a fucking toilet paper
Phoenix had near impossibly big shoes to fill, I think both performances were a masterclass, you have to be some kind of goat actor to relegate Jack Nicholson into 3rd place 😮
From Chicago....my mom would always get upset cause they would ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up and I said a gangster. They're from Philly and I never asked what my father did for a living. Her best friend was the witness relocation program cause the mob was trying to kill her ex husband...leave it at that....i hate saying this but i've been locked up...they don't uncuff you while interrogating you...at least where I'm from. I was locked up with my buddy from high school and we just started singing voodoo child by Jimi while handcuffed to the tables across from one another in the interrogating rooms.(It was for weed nothing violent or sexual)
This scene was the one to convince me that Batman, not Joker, is the villain of the movie. Joker only pointed out the flaws in his heroic fantasy and the fact that, despite coming together in the wake of tragedy, Gotham remained as fearful*, hypocritical, and corrupt as it had always been.
Joke point wasn't to prove Gotham was corrupted. It was prove human beings in general are motivated by fear. When the cheap are down. People are willing to kill each other for their own survival or for their own greed. At the end of movie. Joker is proven wrong when the people choose their morals over their lives.
@@theinsurance2450 If I remember right, it is open ended. Bruce Wayne abandons Gotham to be with Selina Kyle, leaving his estate - and his 'duties' as a vigilante - in the hands of Robin. I have no reason to believe that they did not go right back to the same hypocritical, fearful, and corrupt ways.
No. Batman isn't the villain, the Joker is. Yes, to some extent he has a point; like in this scene when he's talking about their morals being a "bad joke". But at the end of the day, he's the one inciting chaos, killing civillians, and blowing up hospitals. Doesn't matter which way you slice it, that's villain behaviour. Don't be so easily swayed by the charisma of a lunatic.
That black dude absorbed every fking thing Joker said i could see my 16yr old self in him, relizing so much shit at once Christopher Nolan is fkin genius for writing that scene,Oscar worthy, that scene alone

Heath Ledgers Joker is truly a masterful performance.
I feel as if it was too masterful it's scary.. Legend
It’s simply the best piece of acting I’ve ever seen. Batman was amazing but joker was just mind blowing. This movie is perfect
👏👏👏👏

The most terrifying things is how accurate the Joker was about his prediction for Batman.
The best part was him talking about the society. Everything he said is true. And it’s happening as we speak.

Such a good role Heath has ever done! 😁
From the moment he lifted his hands to show his handcuffs, I already knew this is gonna be a performance. And he didn't disappoint.

It's a shame we never got Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill to recreate this scene.
Techincally they did; I have seen a video of Mark recreating Heath's Joker quotes with Mark's classic Joker voice. And I believe if this happened as well or not, Kevin joined in and did his classic Batman voice, using Bale's Batman quotes.
As for this particular scene, I don't know.
Recreate it from what? Is there a movie or is it from a game?
who???
Mark is a clown now 😂😂
I wish I could watch The Dark Knight for the first time again like those lucky people.
Joker made Batman choose to let Dent die.
And the the reverse is the consequence of that choice . That’s cold .😂

Not really but definitely the scariest

When Batman called Joker garbage who kill for money, he still has no idea who or what he is up against.
