Roots was a game changer -it was so different than their previous albums and very different at the time of release... no one had mixed metal with elements of funk and punk so seamlessly while keeping it heavy AF until this album. . Roots has Hints of ACDC and Helmet type repetitive chunky looping riffs which gives the songs major punch - Roots, while still heavy was a shift from "head-banging" to "jump the fuck up" - Early hints of what Max would do with Soulfly
I’m so lucky to have seen this tour in Hamilton,Ontario,Canada opening for Danzig & Ozzy. Absolutely amazing show! Sepultura made Danzig nervous I’ll tell you that much but Danzig hauled ass as well & Ozzy was obviously killer!
To Manifest - Metal and whoever might read: I was a kid in the U.S. just getting into Metal at this time, and Head Bangers Ball was all but gone in America by then. This video is a historic gem. It's both probably one of the last interviews ever with Sepultura when Max was still in the band, as well as probably one of the last episodes of MTV Head Bangers Ball Europe.
