    Thank you so much for sharing this album and page compare. I had a customer recently ask about original albums vs. New albums with older pages. I got the answer but it is very nice to see it (I'm a visual person).

    I much prefer the newer true 12x12, though I have both. The true 12x12 came out awhile ago, before they restructured CM during the time I was a consultant. The harder sides are called the jeeping. :-) I have been buying CM products (and sold it for awhile) since 1999. Their albums, by far, are the best. When they disappeared for a bit a handful or so years ago, I was so bummed. I ended up buying WeRMemoryKeepers albums. Not my favorite. New straps can be bought. And if their warranty is like it was many years ago, there is a lifetime warranty on the book covers.

      I hear you. I wish Creative Memories started with true 12x12! size! And I agree, their albums (bookcloth) are the best, longest lasting. I have tried post and ring bound, but always come back to Creative Memories. Love when I find them at garage sales!

    Thanks so much! That was very helpful. I was given a bunch of old 12x12 pages and was unsure how they would look in the new ones. Now I know:)

    Hello, is there a difference between the 12x12 True pages from 2008 and the 12x12 ones today in 2024? Or are these still the same? (I know the old original "Premiere" ones were slightly smaller in size from way back when). If I buy a new 12x12 album today, are the 2008 True pages right for it/the same as new pages I would buy now?

    • @TerryCowans
      @TerryCowans  8 місяців тому

      The new ones are the same size! Make sure you have a new album, if it is an older album the pages will stick out just a touch.

    I see this an older video but I am wondering if you use the new pages in the old album will the page extend beyond the cover (stick out)?

    • @TerryCowans
      @TerryCowans  3 місяці тому

      The new pages are half an inch wider than the old pages but do not stick out past the edge of the old albums.

    Great video! Enjoyed seeing the older pictures. I am planning on doing Heritage albums. I am excited but overwhelmed with the stuff that I have. I have been going through my grandparents photos and they had a lot. They were both born in the 1920's and raised during the great depression and they saved everything. I have most all of their pictures, other than some that I gave to my Aunt's, Uncle's and cousins (baby and childhood pictures of themselves). I also have almost all of my great grandparents pictures and even some that belonged to my 2nd great grandparents. I have photos that date from the late 1800's to current times. I have them roughly sorted in boxes at the moment. My plan is to do three albums. One of my grandfather growing up and his extended family, one of my grandmother growing up and her extended family, and then one of my grandparents meeting, getting married, WW2 and raising a family. Hope to get started soon. Do you happen to have any heritage albums that you could share? I would greatly appreciate it. I am sure that there are many others in the same boat who have tons of pictures and have no idea what to do with them. Thank you again!

      Oh my gosh! What a treasure to have that family stuff. But understandably overwhelming!
      I have not done a heritage album but I have a friend who did one. She kept the colors muted using beige and black. She titled the pages using her Cricut to cut their names. Boy, did it look sharp. Love that you have 3 albums planned, that will be just enough for family to enjoy. Oh, my friend scanned the pictures too, before she glued them to the pages.
      Good luck!

      @@TerryCowans That sounds cool. I plan to go ahead and start on the one with my grandparents getting married and raising a family since I have most of those already organized. I am going to use black paper in most of it to make it look like those old black paper photo albums from the 30's and 40's and use photo corners for the photos. I will probably later on start on the others. Still waiting for some family to send me some photos of extended family members for the other two.
      I am also planning to redo my parents wedding album. It is a strange size (it was just a Holson brand photo album from the 80's). It looks like 12x12 but it's like 10x12 and only holds 8 by 11 pages. I will have to do some planning on that.
      Do you have any older albums with pictures from the 80's and 90's? I would love to see anything that you can share. We have a lot of photos from that year. I have sorted a lot of the pictures that my grandparents had and gave them away, but my grandmother had at least 3 or 4 copies of every picture from 1940 to the 2000's. Thanks for any help.

      @@TerryCowans Hope all is well. Wanted to give you an update. I put the Heritage albums on hold for a moment. I finished a Scrapbook for my Mom. Actually my grandmother had made one years ago but it was in a large sticky album and the pages were yellowing and pictures were falling out and getting stuck so I took a picture of each page before I took apart. I also added more pictures and things to it, since more pictures were given to my Mom after my grandmother passed.
      I am currently working on one for me. I have some pages done but have been organizing a little more (So many duplicates and bad blurry pictures to get rid of). I also hope to do one for my Dad. I still have the Heritage ones planned, at least one album for my Mom's side and one for my Dad's side. There are quite a lot on my Dad's side but I think I might be able to sort them a little better.
      Love watching your videos! If you happen to do any more album flip through videos of your kid's albums I would love to see those. I still have boxes of my school papers and things to go through and decide what to keep and what to get rid of. Take care!

      @jacoblawrence6580 Wow, you have been super busy! That's great news! I'll flip thru the kids albums soon. Matter of fact, I have some old school stuff that I want to make sure I put in their books.

      @@TerryCowans Sounds good! Do you happen to have any albums with pictures of your family in it, such as a childhood album of yourself or Wedding album? I need to redo my parent's wedding album sometime. I have so many pictures of different family members on my Dad's side. Trying to figure out how to organize it. I will probably do a little of chronological and by person too. Thanks again!

    My mom had an old purple album just like the old one in this video. However, it's missing it's spine cover! I'd love to use it for my wedding pictures, but I need a new spine for it. I can see on the Creative Memories site that I can order a new spine, and even have it embossed, but I don't know which colour to select! What colour would match the best?

    • @TerryCowans

      I just checked the CreativeMemories.com website and the best match is called "Eggplant". Good luck!

    Where can you get the page stability bars please I have had 2 that the staples fall out

    • @TerryCowans
      @TerryCowans  3 роки тому

      That is a good question. I've never had that happen. Let me do some research ...
      Found this, didn't know that you could purchase the cover holder and straps bundle -- www.creativememories.com/coverholders-straps-bundle.html ...
      but I don't see the individual staple/bar. I think you will need to just replace the page. Do you glue your photos to the page? If you do, you could cut the bar off and glue to a new page. Hope this helps!

    I have an album even older than that. It has the cutouts on the front & back covers to accommodate the plastic straps. My one and only book has sat 1/2 done in a closet for 15 years. I finally finished it, bought some page protectors (that needed to be trimmed, no big deal) and also bought a spine cover (that I found out after buying it) that it can't be used on that old album. I'm thinking of trying to cut slits in it to take the straps, but would probably ruin it. So, I guess I'll have to buy a new album, can't match the color (the spine color matched my book!), and will have to transfer the pages to the new book. Moral of story: don't let projects sit around 1/2 finished!

    • @TerryCowans
      @TerryCowans  2 роки тому +1

      Amen to that! Haha!
      It is very hard to find the time or should I say, make the time, for all our projects!
      I tell folks to get the pictures on the pages, then find an album. Capturing the memories is what is it all about.
