I loved Turrican 1 and 2 on the Amiga. Turrican 2 especially is one of the best games of the system. The music by Chris Huelsbeck is an absolute classic. Best game OST maybe ever?
Greetings from the UK. I brought this for the PS4 last week, awesome collection. I had Turrican 1-2 for the Atari ST & Mega Turrican for Mega Drive back in day, Turrican 2 was my fav!!
As a teenager in the early 90s I was searching for a run and gun games like Contra for my sega genesis and I bought Mega Turrican and I didn't regret it... it was awesome !
Turrican 2 is one of my favourite games of all time. Still fantastic to play today on Amiga. Let's see if they release this later on Xbox and PC as well, for these gems should be accessible to all gamers.
Turrican 2 was huge here in Australia. Absolutely love that soundtrack on that game. Just finished the first Turrican the other day as I had never played it before, man oh man took me like 4 hours to finish.

Yeah I'm getting this awesome collection. I do feel the classic series was far more popular over here in UK/Europe and I still remember playing the original on cassette tape for my C64 when I was a very young kid :-)

As a guy from overseas (germany to be precisely) I instantly fell in love with the 3rd installment of the series on the Commodore Amiga 500. I have to buy the Flashback Version for my Nintendo Switch to bring back my lucky Childhood Memories! Thank you so much for this Video!
The Commodore 64 was my machine back in the day and Turrican 1 and 2 were mind blowing. It’s amazing what Manfred Trenz was able to achieve at the time and it does feel like a bit of a slap in the face that none of these compilations feature those versions. Anyway these are great games I hope many people who haven’t played them before check them out.
Yeah the c64 versions were the original versions, everything else was a port basically. He said he prefers the c64 versions even over the better looking ones

Turrican 2 on the Amiga is the only one I've ever played - pleased to say that I still have it, although honestly it wasn't a legal copy and it always freezes and crashes when you get to a certain point. I didn't even know this Turrican Flashback release existed until seeing this video, so thank you bringing it to my attention.
The TURRICAN Series is one of my all time favorites. I had I+II on the C-64 back then and off course later on Amiga and Atari ST. Yes, I had dem all. Good to see that they made a compilation. This is video game history at its best ..! :-)
i love all turricans but my favorite is the second in the amiga, in this version we can jump pressing a botton or we must do the diagonal as in the original version?
Wow! I love the Turrican series. I played the originals on my Amstrad CPC as a kid. Mega Turrican is my favourite but I have never tried Super. I really liked Universal Soldier on Megadrive as a kid and I could tell it was really a Turrican game back then.
I had the game boy version as a kid...never got more than 5-10 minutes into it until losing all my lives and it being game over. I just remember it being super hard as a kid.
Oh man, I had the original on the C64 and was always jealous of my friends who had it on the Amiga. But still an amazing port! Finished Mega Turrican on the Megadrive a few years back (super expensive now) and ordered the limited run pack for the switch. Can't wait to receive it. Great vid.
The Turrican games seem pretty cool. My biggest complaint from what I've seen of them is how far to the side of the screen you have to be for it to scroll. It looks like you have to move like 60%-70% of the screen for it to move with you instead of halfway like most games.
@@docdoom79 I've played some of the Genesis and SNES versions I think. It's definitely a big gripe in my opinion. The game doesn't give you time to react to enemies when you have to move so close to the edge of the screen. The game would be much better if it was in the middle like 90% of older games.
I didn't pay Turrican until last month. I am collecting snes pretty heavy right now and picked up Suoer Turrican. My first thought was...why in the hell didn't I play this as a kid? The music alone is amazing. I just bought this collection! Great games.
I owned a dead man's Amiga once, I was living in Jackson Heights NYC, when the landlord of a building who also used to rent cabs to my dad, told my him he had a computer system and sold it to my dad in a box for 100 bucks in 1987. It belonged to a tenant who was a stockbroker and died from getting a diabetic seizure which he never came out of, all his stuff was never picked up by family and friends. He also gave us an apple 2 g2 monitor thinking it was the monitor for the Amiga lolz. I was the only kid in the block with an Amiga. My dad bought it for me because the c64 we used that we found discarded from a public school stopped working*power supply function. I still had a c64 monitor with a nyc department of education sticker on it that had composite in. I would get games from 2 kids in school, and constantly make copies of disk, and games that were cracked, one of those games was Turrican in its 3rd year of owning an Amiga. I was totally blown away, sadly it was the last year I owned that amiga because it shorted out after we had our electricity come on and I left it plugged after we had a brownout, last game I finished on the Amiga
Great story...NYC in the 80’s and owning an Amiga 500. 😎 I had an Amiga too, the cracked and demo scene was so tight in those days...those blue floppies contained magic back then.

I know how ur friend with the Amiga felt, try growing up with a ZX spectrum in the USA. Back when online wasn’t how it is at all today n with adapters for UK outlets to be US, very rare back then. I still have that same ZX Spectrum 😉👍 and back in THOSE days I literally knew no one else (around me) who owned one or even knew what it was lol
Anybody interested in this should immediately head to Strictly Limited Games website. They've had a 2 disc set of the Turrican games on preorder for a while now, almost sold out(I think all the collector's editions are sold out, but the games are still available right now). The game line ups are much better in the Turrican Anthology Vol. 1 and 2 versus this release. Disc 2 is where it's at, it has a couple of the Amiga Turrican games, but more crazy is it has Mega Turrican and Super Turrican 2 in one package, 2 very expensive games. SLG is also doing reproduction copies of Mega Turrican for Genesis/MegaDrive and Super Turrican 1 and 2 for SNES. So it's a no brainer if you're interested, hurry up to Strictly Limited games.
Looks great to see this again. Be good if they made, in addition to this maybe a new up date new style modern graphics, 1080P version & really push todays consoles but still retain the nostalgia too.
This is a European favorite. Just as Japan is proud of its arcades and Nintendo, Sega and America is proud of IBM PC with RPGs and Doom, Europe was really about home computers and this game has legendary status.
I had Turrican for the Sega Genesis. I bought it a KB toys for $20. It was soooooo hard!! I made it to the third level but it would just abuse you so bad. I couldn’t believe they had made a sequel. But I guess there is a following. I loved the game for the 15 minutes I would play it but I just felt like it kicked you in the teeth all the time.
The Genesis version of Turrican 1 is easily the hardest to begin with, especially if you were playing it in NTSC... though even the PAL MD version is harder than the Amiga and C64 NTSC versions. Anyway, the PAL Amiga version featured here is definitely more fair, plus the controls are improved.
Turrican 1 and 2. My favourite C64 games. Would love to play these again but I'm not sure £24.99 is worth it for 30 year old games. I'll hang on for a discount.
Still waiting for Anthology 1 to arrive. Turrican 3 was my first ever game. So I'll have to buy Anthology 2. That's $60 NZD. So Mega Turrican is Amiga Turrican 3. Awesome, I'll compare them. 👍
Tbh for just facilitating a legal port of games that are around on emulators for decades now 30 bucks is a bit on the pricey end. And this attitude with artificially holding back half of the roms from the eShop adds to this. But real fans of the franchise are of course happy about the physical re-releases and I'm happy for them.

There needs to be way more Amiga ports to modern systems. Because it's really hard to emulate the Amiga, I can never get it to work. I've played all the other Turrican games but now I finally get to try the Amiga ones, it's exciting. But yeah plenty of Amiga games exist that are classics and aren't really playable in any other way. Only on the Amiga, never been ported. And there's stuff like James Pond II which obviously got Mega Drive and SNES ports (the mega drive one was SUPER popular, basically everybody owned a copy) but I've heard the original Amiga version is better. A lot of Amiga games got ported to the Mega Drive because they had similar hardware apparently, but then I'm always hearing that the Amiga versions are better for one reason or another
It's a retooled version of Turrican 2 with the sh'mup levels replaced and some other levels swapped around and some changed to the enemies and boss patterns.
Played it back in the days on C64, than super on snes and mega on md. A few month ago i got through gunlord x. Take a look on this alike, if you like turrican ;)
I played Turrican 1 and 2 constantly back in the day on my Amiga and still do on emulator. They are still incredibly playable and have some of the greatest music in gaming. We were so hyped by Turrican 2 we recorded the music and some gameplay on video and sent it to a friend who was studying in Australia at the time.
@@DanielRivera-on5qh Super Turrican 2 does not follow the formula of the previous games with roaming levels. It plays more like a straight forward Contra Game. Mega Turrican is more like a traditional setup with branching levels and is fairly long.

In Europe turrican was huge. The amiga version is the one most of us played. 2nd was my fav and still play now on my amiga
Turrican games are easily my most played games on the Amiga! Some of the hardest games i've played
There even a little bit of super mario in these games with the powerup blocks and stomping on enemies.
When hard copy and digital cost the same, I prefer the hard copy.

For me playing Turrican 2 on a PAL Amiga 500 with an Arcade joystick is the only way :-)

It's on my wishlist now, but $30 is pretty steep for a fairly bare-bones package of a few emulated 16-bit games.

@@DanielRivera-on5qh Super Turrican 2 does not follow the formula of the previous games with roaming levels. It plays more like a straight forward Contra Game. Mega Turrican is more like a traditional setup with branching levels and is fairly long.
Turrican 2 is the best of the series in my opinion. Prefer the C64 version a bit though, but the Amiga version is awesome too.

iirc.. was the c64 intro.. or was that x-out. we had this on the c64, and later as a sequel on megadrive, disguised as universal soilder. u wanna save ya bombs for the end of level baddies. gyroscope off the map haha
on the c64 u had to hit space and shift for ya special weps. far away from where u would normally sit
