Speaking as an adult who struggles with both ADHD and autism, it greatly helps to have people who are patient and understanding. Taika is very fortunate to have you two as his parents.

This reminds me of a quote I once heard - "Behind every great child is a mom who's pretty sure she's screwing it all up!" You are making every effort to help your child, mistakes or not... you're both incredible parents. Trust in yourselves and Taika. Some of the successful/good qualities adults have are considered difficult/bad qualities in kids.

As an adult with ADHD, please believe that taika will find his way. You guys are much more patient and understanding than the parenting I got. I have total faith that he’s gonna discover what works best for him and then do great things. It’s definitely gonna be rough for a chunk of time but when he gets it, he got it. Rooting for your family!!! 🎉😄

My grandson has ADHD and Taika growing up reminded me of him. My daughter is a psychologist and thanks to her knowledge he grew up in a household full of loving relatives. He is now 22 and is thriving and living life to it’s fullest. I’m sure Taika will be fine with his extra energy but the both of you are good parents and understand his behavior.

Bart and Geo, Taika is so much like our son. Smart kid, adhd, behavioral issues (I.e. big emotions). Their personalities are similar. His literacy level is above average and the way he speaks is much higher as well compared to his peers. Yet ask him to do simple things like using the restroom, is a war between us and him. Idk if Taika has this but our son has defiance issues as well. It’s been an emotional roller coaster each day with him. It’s been so hard finding him the help he needs. We tried so many things. The health care for such things are so hard to find and it’s all in our hands.

    • @DemonFox369
      @DemonFox369 Рік тому +3

Why shouldn’t a kid have big emotions? Is it really a problem for him or is it a problem for the adults? Guide that emotion towards something great. Lots of people want to drown that emotion and make it disappear.
Defiance is a side effect of rules. ADHD is also a side effect of rules. (Why sit when I want to move, why learn the way you want me to, why focus on what I don’t want to focus on). A person either falls into the rule and learns to live with it while making the best of it (success), lives with it while being upset (depression), or they refuse to and get labeled by a doctor who diagnoses them as different from everyone else.
Average comprises of a lot of below average. That means a lot of the kids your child is being compared to have less than great abilities due to how much effort their parents provided. Above average when excluding below average just means he’s like all the rest of the normal folks who had parents who try.
Unless he’s in the top 99th percentile of intelligence, he’s really just a normal kid among dumb kids if he’s above average. Average is really dumb. Below average is even dumber.
I’m sure Albert Einstein had big emotions. Shakespeare. Alexander the Great. The guy who made The Simpsons. The person who made ice cream. The most passionate doctors, the most passionate athletes, the most passionate dancers, singers, chefs, teachers, writers. Their worlds weren’t big enough for them.

You guys got this, it makes me cry to hear about how much you try to parent Taika, he is so lucky to have parents so devoted. Give him structure, add deadlines to tasks, and find a space where he can be creative even if he is destructive. I didn't know I have ADHD growing up, I don't come from a place where neurodiversity is a thing so without trying much I learn to mask every tendency which pretty much resulted in becoming an anxious and depressed adult which ADHD people are prone to. It sucks to know and feel that you are different but no one notices, to think that I have loving parents that were simply too busy to notice I needed help it hurts. You guys are already so informed and you trying your best. Keep being in Taika's corner.

As a parent of a boy with adhd it has been very hard to see and accept that some kids do not want to be his friends. We know how awesome our kids are and seeing other not understand them is hard. I can only try to undaunted what it's been for him. He's been bullied and picked on even by teachers and it's hard but we're doing the best we can for him. I wish you guys the best on this parenting journey.

Bart & Geo, Taika reminded me of how I was growing up. As an adult who also has a similar type of issues of having ADHD but also having learning disability on top of being partial hearing, I applaud you guys as parents because the medical advancement has grown so much compared to what was available during my parents time when they were trying to figure out, just like what you both are figuring out now, is very different. But I remember something that stuck with me for all this time even now is what helps me function might help for Taika as well, is that keeping a routine and also having a routine in order to figure things out may help.

growing up with adhd i didn’t have friends either😩. i tried to fit in and i always made people not want to be around me and it was so isolating😓. in second grade before i was diagnosed my teacher separated me from my classmates and was given stickers for “behaving” but really it was being quiet and not talking to my classmates. i wish my parents understood me and my adhd and they think i’ve outgrown it but it’s the opposite. adult adhd is so unmanageable due to the fact that i wasn’t told my brain is different and was punished for expressing myself constantly. but with great parents like yourselves taika will be able to navigate the work with a good mindset and the tools to succeed even if he’s different❤(not saying my parents didn’t do what they could for me ) but i think the older i got the less attention they paid to it bc my grades were fine but as a person in the real world i struggle without rules or someone telling me what to think as they made decisions for me my whole life and i think in that was my ability to adult was hurt from it. adhd is hard but it doesn’t mean i’m broken. Adhd minds are unique and beautiful. all my love❤️

I have ADHD but not medicated and not diagnosed, every activity that Bart spoke about, is activities i would enjoy, i get bored really fast, that why when i was younger my sister, brother and I would spend the entire day outside, playing with the kids in the neighbourhood, go for a bike ride for hours, explore other area in the neighbourhood, check out abundant building, go for a swim at municiple pool and play basball or soccer until we run out of energy. That was in summer time and the school would star we stay in after do home work for a few hours and watch cartoon before going to bed. You guys awaken my inner kid when Bart talk about shampoo in water Fountain. 😁😛😝👍👌

30:30 also as a teacher, dont worry. alllll kids learn differently. dont bother even comparing programs, study habits, kid scores, etc. because in the end, they all learn differently and are truly special and unique. as long as your kid continues to have a curiosity for learning, growing, etc that's all that matters.
ive seen the smartest and brightest kids dread going to school because they already hate studying.
ive seen the average kid really excel in other ways!
as parents, all you gotta do is see where your kids thrives and what his strengths and weaknesses are and go from there. dont try to fit him into a mold :D
    youll be fine!

My son has ADHD too. It's really hard. I actually homeschool him now because he is having a hard time in school, academically, emotionally, and socially. He just turned 9 in January. Homeschooling takes a shit load of patience for sure and I'm grateful to be able to be there for him but it's hard. I also have a 5 year old and I don't mean to compare them but you can totally see the difference between the both of them through their behavior and learning. Taika really reminds me of my 9 year old!! My son loves pranks too and people do truly think the things he does is out of malice and he's just a true menace. I completely understand what you guys are going through with Taika. As a parent of an ADHD child, it's hard to understand what their thought process is. We also found that it's hard to figure out what he's interested in because he's always changing interest in things. And he's always super angry. So so hard. The way you guys are explaining the social part of Taika at school, is the same way the other kids felt about my son too. It was kind of heartbreaking because you know your child and it wasn't his intentions to be aggressive but he comes out that way sometimes. We found that my son actually loves piano and it's his way of expressing I guess? You guys are great parents, keep up the good work. :)

I feel the same way with my son. It’s not malicious. Kids are curious and we live in a world where we are supposed to tell children it’s misbehaving. I recognize that so deeply in my son. He just wants to explore and was constantly being yelling at and hated on by his teachers for doing so. Kids aren’t meant to be quiet and sit there emotionless, and I think more teachers need to understand that and people who deal with kids in general!

He's done podcasts with Diary of a CEO, Joe Rogan, and wrote numerous best sellers. A lot of your frustration with Taika's medical care is understandable given the conventional medical mindset, but there are great doctors out there like Dr. Mate who heal instead of just treating.

When parents engage too much, kids don’t have the chance to be curious and absorb on their own. It’s similar to boredom. Kids who are never bored (always on screens) have issues figuring out who they are or what they want. Kids need to figure out how their world works on their own without adults telling them every single thing.

Bart is totally right about the intentions. A dog doesn’t pee on a pole just because it wants to. It’s doing it for marking territory and showing other dog’s who’s dominant and who’s boss. Kids are the same thing. They want control, they want dominance, they want attention, they want freedom. A gorilla doesn’t strike a pose or beat its chest because of no reason. A chimp doesn’t show its teeth or throw poop for no reason. It’s all instinct and hormones and nature and nurture combined and the rules they exist within. Bart and Taika would totally be normal or even tame compared to hunter gatherers and cavemen or village society. They’re just not considered normal because the people at the top who control society and determine things have decided they don’t fall within the spectrum of following orders. Neither of them are considered “problemed” in a society where they are welcome. We just live in a society where they aren’t welcome.

Same as you and any other person who can't see into the future can change their minds when the future becomes the present. This isn't about money for them. The vlogs are them sharing their lives with people same as they always have. Their version of home movies to look back on. No different then most YTers who tend to show their children in their family vlogs because their child(ren) are part of their family. And they are keeping Taika safe. To suggest otherwise is ignorant on your part. Add to that, if Geo hadn't been vlogging on Halloween then she wouldn't have caught it on camera when Taika had a seizure after he had taken his meds, which she was then able to show to his neurologist. Which the neurologist was then able to use to help better diagnose the type of seizures Taika may be having. Your parents may have f you up for all I know and that is where this 💩attitude of yours is coming from. Yet unless you watch all their videos instead of just "here and there", don't you dare sit there and act like you know how they are as parents. They are doing their research and trying to find Taika the best doctors they can to help with his seizures, in hopes to get him off the anti-seizures meds which have made his behavioral issues more of a struggle. Yet if you want to be a negative AH that is on you.

You guys should get his natal chart read (birth chart) by an astrologer. They can tell you what his strengths and weaknesses are. 😃

Your grammar is bad as well. Try cleaning it up, and rephrasing your choice of words before you pass judgement on Bart, Taika and their family.🤨 And at least Bart and Geo don't try to beat it out of him, like Bart's parents tried to do to him as a child.

She can cry if she wants to since they have been going through a lot. And part of Taika's behavioral issues has been made worse by the anti seizure meds he has been placed on. Even though the anti seizure meds have not helped in stopping the seizures. They are trying to find the balance. Leave them be.
