As an absolute obsessive Godzilla collector of almost 25 years and counting had to throw in and say your friend's pick up there was not a knockoff Godzilla item, it was from a series of American Godzilla toys by Trendmasters which made them look more muscular and intimidating for the American kids of the 90s. That particular character is Anguirus, though I did notice to the pain of my heart that he's missing his tail :P I love that toy, have it and its repaint in my own collection.
Sweet we saw one with the tail the day after so that’s when he noticed it was missing 😅

I started collecting vintage tmnt. Acquired the tecnodrome,sewer lair playset,foot cruiser, turtle tank and amongst a few others. It's expensive but owning such a piece of toy history is well worth it. I also own some of thr actual figures.
I am also an avid collector of Star Wars power of thr force.

Dinosaucers was way underated show along with silver Hawks, tiger sharks and Inhumanoids. Dinosaucers is going to be a tough find like the willow action figures and the elusive Knickerbocker Lord of the rings toys that are $$
