OK, here's my take on the chain of succession of the Darksaber. Din was caught in a snare/trap, he wasn't defeated in combat. But, all he needed to tell the Mandalorians was that he was "captured" and that the saber was "taken" from him. Without the details, his story passes the sniff test just enough to justify passing the saber on to the being that captured him, and therefore passing it on to Bo Katan for defeating that creature in actual combat to rescue Din.
Truly, I think Din has been wanting to relieve himself of the burder of that weapon since he earned it, and now he has a good enough reason and opportunity.

One observation about Grogu’s and Yoda’s species age. Yoda died roughly around the age of 900. “When 900 years old you reach look as good you will not”-ROTJ. But has been training Jedi for about 800 years. “For 800 years have I trained Jedi”-ESB. We could see Grogu as a master of his abilities in about 50 more years. In that time, he could be talking, fighting effectively, etc by the time we get to the prequel era.

My opinion is that this season is the setup for a major conflict next season. There is a mysterious antagonist and an unconventional love story that will bring 2 leaders of Mandalorians together for an epic fall to end the series. Bo and Din bring out the best in each other and have grown in each other's mind. Neither would be where they are without each other. That makes them inseparable.

    • @crosstheater
      @crosstheater Рік тому +2

This episode was a callback to when Cara and Din fought for an indigenous village and one of the female villagers wanted to become family. Din could not be they were not of his kind. (This is NOT the Way!) However, with Bo it can be.

I don’t mind them doing episodes like this if they did more than 8 episodes in a season.
This is the problem i had with fett and kenobi. Story meanders about and then conflict resolution happens quickly then it’s over. Leaves you wanting more. Which I’m sure is by design, and probably not what is intended by the writers. The only thing that’s clear from this season so far is that there will be another season of mando and more spinoffs coming.

It's interesting that even this many years later the general public don't know the truth behind the Clone Wars and rise of the Empire. The entire separatist movement was a trojan horse within a trojan horse, whereby the Corporations sold to the citizens/politicians of the rebelling planets as them being able to practice their individual cultures values (even those which wouldn't align with the republic constitution such as slavery, caste systems, etc.) and Dooku sold it to the Corporations (Techno Union, Trade Fed, etc) as them getting deregulated and being able to act freely if they helped fund the movement, while all the while Dooku was playing all of them and fully intended for the Separatists to loose the war just as the Republic transitioned into the empire which the sith would be in charge of.

Din Djarin's journey should be to continue to grow his friendship network. Sort of like a Naruto arc. I only think that because he's a foundling who bonded with a foundling. He also has met friends outside of the religious sect he is apart of.

I loved how they spent time on Bo and Din arguing about how to handle several different situations in this episode. Until Din's final decision to hand over the Darksaber, I was on the edge of my seat expecting Bo to just snap and challenge him for the Blade this episode.

This episode was really fun, I’m kinda surprised people aren’t picking up on where this story is going. I think next season they need to be more like previous seasons and actually present the conflict to us instead of having us need to piece together clues to figure out what’s going on

I think the series is a bit more broad than you realise. Think of the title Loki. We follow one Loki but we can have episodes about other Lokis. This series is called The Mandalorian. If it were called Din Jarin, or Grogu, we would be a bit upset that we don’t follow these characters. But it’s called The Mandalorian, and I’d expect it to be about the Mandalorian people and their story.
    Just something to consider.

Nobody watches it for "other Mandalorians". The reason why it was so successful was the wholesome relationship between Din and Grogu. Nobody cares about some space Karen who just stopped karening recently.

I’ll admit I started watching The Mandalorian only because of Pedro. I had seen the original trilogy ages ago and I don’t think I ever finished the ones with Rey/Kylo. I ended up really enjoying Mandalorian and now watch it weekly. I think because it is my primary Star Wars media that’s why I’ve liked it so much; I don’t have all the other stories conflicting. I did watch eps 5-7 for Boba Fett since I knew it was related to Mandalorian but I wouldn’t have otherwise. I dunno, I guess my simple/passive experience with the Star Wars lore at large has been a benefit when it comes to enjoying Mandalorian. I’ve liked all the episodes. 🤷‍♀️

I really hope this season wraps up with just the build up of a third faction to rise against Bo katan and Din jarin and have them explain more season 4 than just bringing back Moff Gideon and having a 2 episode finale

Favorite reference from this episode isn’t even from Star Wars but from Jack Black’s Tenacious D.
In the song “City Hall”, the D are elected leaders of the rebuilding process and lead as Two Kings. Their 2nd decree is that there will be no more pollution or car exhaust, and that everyone will travel in tubes. Just like Mando and Bo-Katan did.

I didn't think it was possible, but I just saw a video of a squid trying to mate with a cuttlefish, so maybe the interspecies romance from the beginning of the episode is not as far-fetched as I assumed while watching it. Who knew you could learn things watching Star Wars?
