  • In this video we are in the Cibola National Forest in New Mexico. I spend a relaxing day in camp enjoying the cool mountain temps while do some wood carving.
    Thank you for being here.
    *My name is Brian. I started living full time in a self built camper van in 2014 in my hometown of San Diego, CA. I hit the road full-time in 2015 to pursue seasonal work and travel around the U.S. I find free camping on public land and enjoy photography, hiking, biking, and kayaking in nature. Join me on my adventures.

    Hi Brian, I always look forward to and really do enjoy your videos. They are an escape from the craziness of UA-cam and life in general. I really appreciate the quiet, peaceful way you present each video. And yes, I'd love to see you make your spoons and spreaders available for purchase! You do such beautiful work! It was really enjoyable to see how you go about crafting one of your spreaders. And, if I was traveling, I'd want to find spots just like the ones you stay in. I still remember the absolutely gorgeous camp you found outside of Tucson -- the desert at its most lovely! Thank you for sharing your experiences. It is most appreciated! In love and light, Dara

    I enjoy seeing and hearing the great sights and camps you create. As I get older, 66 now more things keep me from camping as id like to.. My soul misses the peace and joy of relaxing after camps set up. Fixing dinner on or near the fire. Waking to the damp, cool morning to the sounds of the birds and campfire.
    Thanks for sharing with us.

    Hummigbirds are such amazing birds. I thought i had a lot of bees around my porch, then i realized they were humming birds. Now i have several humming bird feeders in my yard. I love sitting out on my porch in the evening to watch them.

    Nice woodwork, really nice. Growing up in west Texas we had more little 'horny toads' than a person could count. Then the fire ants moved in and began destroying the huge red ant mounds...the primary food source for horny toads. The population decreased dramatically over the years. There are still horny toads, but nowhere near the numbers we had in the 60s through the 70s.

    Oh Brian I really enjoyed the process of the woodworking. Years ago I learned bladesmithing on YT and loved it but the brutal hits of the hammer destroyed my wrist, didn't have a proper anvil too heavy, so I stopped but have some awesome knives that I made first. Just fire and files. Some 16 incher's and one 36 incher. Wrist recovered nicely once I stopped and that is why I'm an 'Old Man On An XT250' STILL. Thanks for sharing your process. Craig C.

    No need for a mason jar, just keep and use the peanut butter jar when it's empty.

    Brian I absolutely love the spoon with the spiral handle, and of course the spreader. You are so talented! I would definitely love the chance to purchase either. I have been wanting to do something as far as a donation to you for new equipment or anything that you may need in your travels and filming. You were the first “traveler “ I started to follow after my heart problems almost two years ago. Your videos have brought me so much peace and joy. What type of oil do you recommend?

    • @AdventureVanMan
      @AdventureVanMan  4 місяці тому

      Usually different oils are depending on how dark you want the final product. Flaxseed oil will be darker than something like walnut oil or food grade mineral oil being the lightest coloration. Flaxseed is a good all around oil to use and is usually available at grocery or health food stores.

    Thanks for the content, Brian! Big hummingbird guy here...I think the territorial behavior is why you see a lot of folks hang several feeders...although they will still compete...The more you watch them and if even see them in slow motion they are quite violent as they dive bomb on another! Any thoughts to setup a regular bird feeder as well?

    Brian, I have a solar power hummingbird bird bath I hang by my feeder. It will also attract them to the feeder you are using. You may want to look into one. It's very beneficial to hummingbirds. Helps them cool off and keep clean. You do need to keep the water fresh but on a hot dry day they will really love it. Happy Travels.
