Ah - thank you! I was lucky enough to meet Patrice last year. I thanked her for all her music and the inspiration and she kindly signed my Rhodes on the harp :)
@shwanrostami Hi there, thanks for the comment! I haven't used the real books at all - I listen to recordings and transcribe them myself - that's the best way :D
@SimonTube999 Wow, thanks, cheers - that's a quick comment, I only uploaded this a few minutes ago! Glad you enjoyed it - the complete score will up here soon as a videoscore link so please do check back if you want to play it yourself. All the best, Tom
Love this track, love the clavinet part ! I am trying to play it myself, could you upload the complet score please, it's gonna be more easy I hope ! Best regards, Cristo
fantastic cover playing ! Could you offer us the sheet score, i will ne so happy to learn playing it !! Both clav and rhodes will be heaven !!! Thanks so much
@shwanrostami Hi again, yeah - I play live with friends on and off - at the moment I'm practising ready to perform tracks live by a mate called Myles Sanko - check him out on youtube, he's a really great singer! We've already done the recording - live stuff coming soon...
@bean9seventy Cheers man, been loving your bass playing when I've checked out your videos too. Where am I heading? Still trying to learn from the best and start coming up with my own stuff in time - definitely going to keep with the Herbie tracks because when it comes to the Rhodes he's the ultimate. I've got loads of classic LPs with Joe Sample and George Duke on Rhodes so I might look at some of their playing. Happy New Year!
solid chops tomogrady ,,and you realy lay down magestic rhodes also,, thinking you might like the way george duke joints up his gigs ,,or ramsey lewis ,, joe sample ,, other kats ,, maybe the whole smoke like chick corea ??,,great to know where you heading ,,,?
Rhodes and a Clav is almost an immaculate pair. Get yourself some of those Rhodes Straddlers from Ken Rich that allow you to stack stuff on the Rhodes without stressing the harp cover.
Hey, thank you for playing the song. I could see the technique you've got, so i have to ask. I've been taking piano lessons for almost 3 years. What do you suggest in order to play the piano the way you do in the song? (including that Stevie wonder thing at the beginning), considering i usually study Thompson, Herz, Hanon and a short sonata everyday I ask you this because my goal has always been to play the piano the way you do in song. Thank you very much.
+José Luis G. Hi Jose, thanks for the message - it sounds like you're more diligent than me in terms of your Hanon and sonata practice! I don't have ideal technique and in fact I need to incorporate more wrist rotation into my playing rather than just fingerwork - I had a lesson that involved Taubmann technique (check her out on youtube). Aside from that, I have a Beringer technique book (like Hanon) but I only tend to go to that if there's something specific I want to work on. Mainly, it's a case of practising with a specific aim and being aware of how I want to play something. All the best, Tom
All right. I just checked the Taubmann technique. I didn't know it was about rotation. Thanks for the tip, but. about the last thing you wrote. Are you saying that you are used to practicing songs like these by ear?
Hi there - in this video there was no chorus. I don't think I even used the stereo tremolo on the preamp because I only have two inputs on my Apogee Duet so I had one for the clavinet and one for the Rhodes.
Now that's what I'm talkin' 'bout tomogradymusic! That was funky and soulful brotha'! 😎

I like your music and sounds very much. Have you been studying the real book or something else ?
that's definitely the best way man, thanks for inspiration! Are you playing in bands ?
Great sound and playing! Did you use a chorus effect on the Rhodes?
Hi there - in this video there was no chorus. I don't think I even used the stereo tremolo on the preamp because I only have two inputs on my Apogee Duet so I had one for the clavinet and one for the Rhodes.
Do you have any files of 'Msingi Workshop' that you could send me or tell me where I can cop?
Hi! Do you have any sheet music of the rhodes solo? Thanks!
Whose is the song in the original?
Игорь Бессчастный Hi there - it's Patrice Rushen's song!
Thank you very much!
Best regards, Igor B
:-)
Well, I look and feel young, but I'm not *actually* that young :D At least I'm younger than my Rhodes!
I'm a subscriber so it hit the inbox :) Will def. check back
