What to do in León, Nicaragua

León is a really cool, although incredibly hot place, in western Nicaragua. The main attraction is to do the volcano boarding and that is the highlight.
There is also the Museo de la Revolucion, the revolutionary museum. The tour is only $3 US for a one hour tour given by someone who fought against the US to liberate Nicaragua.
I learned a ton on this tour and you can truly see the revolutionary spirit of the Nicaraguans and why they adore their Cuban counterparts.
In addition there are a few gyms (Golden Fitness is the one I chose) in town as well as some nice restaurants, one of which has a pool. This helps a ton as it is always incredibly hot in Leon. Coco Calala is the name of this cafe.
GuardaBarranco is another good cafe option. Monchos has tasty burgers. Asados el Pelibuey is the best spot for authentic and cheap local food. El Mirador is a great rooftop bar in the center of town.
The walking tour is great and informative. Volcano Hostel is fine and $9 with a pool. There is live music at Via Via on Fridays and everyone goes to Bar 23 on the weekends.
