Coach ray literally has brought us some of the best interviews ever….
I told you and you did not know that ... Devon had zero wins with the right hand against a top European. You were just clueless ... Here he talked about Taras 😂
@@youtubecensoringcomments7427 Pushkar wasn’t a top European? 😳
@@jdj2022 Pushkar was with the right hand?? 😅😅😅 The same misread grip and rip did
@@youtubecensoringcomments7427 I knew his Denis match was left. I thought Pushkar was right handed. Oh well.
You say Devon hasn’t beaten any top Europeans right handed but he also hasn’t been beaten by any top Europeans right handed except for Levan. So I still don’t see your point.
@@jdj2022 Taras beat him so again you are wrong
this is the best video about armwrestling ive ever seen, life lessons and everything about armwrestling can be summed up in this video
Agreed 100%
This is why Dev is the most important of all armwrestlers.
Devon is so knowledgeable about armwrestling and knowing what to do at the table. I remember watching him explain how he rushed the catch against Taras ivakin and essentially gave Taras all position and tried to catch him the last inch from the pad he had been able to do prior. You must fight them all the way until that catch even though you know they are going to beat you all the way to it. I felt this exact thing in my first tournament. I tried to conventionally toproll, got flashed. Then I tried to dive into a defensive hook, got flashed. I then posted as hard as possible and fought from center. Lost my cup, that's okay, lost center table, that's fine, lost pronation slightly, trust the process... And I was able to keep my post and catch him right before the pin! From there I was able to out-armwrestle him and go on to win the match. All that from listening to Devon explain allowing yourself to lose certain fundamentals to retain others when you're not the stronger man!
Think of how many videos with Devon we've seen since his match with Levan and how many practices he's gone to compared to Levan. He is THE armwrestling ambassador.
What does Levan do between matches anyway?
@@hemmydall Literally nothing. Probably practices/works out privately which is boring for a world champ
@@hemmydall Levan spends his time between matches eating naughty children's bones and arguing with billy-goats, from his apartment, which is under the bridge between Georgia and Armenia.
Levan's focus is on being the best by as wide a margin as possible, and he has done so successfully. He could care less about being an "ambassador"; when one is not the best of the best in this art, there is always consolation in being an ambassador.
@@hemmydall Distances himself in his dominance!!!!! CASE closed!
well, many tried to tell Devon to close the strength gap, interesting to hear he only realized later on. i find it good that he openly talks about it.
Like he said, he learned more from his looses than wins.
You'd think he would have realized that after his Denis loss
The man is close to fifty years. There is seriously not more strength for him to develop - if any. With age white or fast twitch muscle fibers turn into red or slow twitch fibers which are for endurance. That is why they say: Sprinters are born, long distance runners are made. That's one thing. The other thing is the nervous system. It is mainly responsible for maximum strength and I doesn't get any better with age either.
@@Ollolo , he can still get stronger. The problem is that no matter how strong he gets, it won't be enough to win against Levan.
Well like they said, armwrestlers are stubborn
In jiu jitsu there is a saying “position before submission.” Which means you shouldn’t always be working to submit your opponent, especially from weaker positions. I think armwrestling is the same. You can’t pin until you have achieved control or have a position of superior court tell over your opponent, whether hand control, or a hook you pull to your side of the table, then you can proceed to pin. I think I’d guys started to reframe the sport as first gaining superior control then working on pinning, you’d have more success.
That's kindof the European style.
Center > Slam.
there's different styles. Todd hutchings knows that he will never have the biggest strongest hand so he doesn't care as much about position as he does for sideways strength. It really depends on your physical traits, but pronation, cupping and rising will always be the most important things as they get you the position you need to win.
Great saying
Too much wisdom here guys!!! Great talk
Wow he admitted that 😮, many people including me, did send him comments telling him to focus on strength that he shouldn't spend that much time armwrestling mid level armwrestlers.
Well he said it himself, that was wrong.
👍
Yup. But even if he'd focused more on strength, I honestly don't think it would've made much of a difference against Levan anyway. Just look at what happened to Chaffee.
@@StevenRayW when someone is stronger then another person you cant really tell ever how big of a gap it is, so you never know it maybe would've gotten Devon a late stop but who knows
I know nothing and I remember people saying this... I remember them saying he should wrestle Dave, etc. Big mistake.
@@guccibinoculars4393 Well, if the gap was small, Devon would've been able to overcome it with his queen's move and endurance rather than getting 6-0ed.
To be fair, Devon definitely got stronger during his prep. He just didn't focus on peaking that strength. 1rpm sets, stronger pullers to train with, etc. From what we've seen Levan goes at or close to max effort per workout, and then often does pulling after.
I’m pretty sure this is the strongest Devon we’ve ever seen. That puts into perspective how insane Levan is. I do support Devon more though.
You would think that after Cyplenkov Devon would've understood what needed to be done. Guess not...
These are hands down the best arm wrestling interview videos I've ever seen. I could watch these everyday. Great content!!!
This is the best arm wrestling/life discussion I've heard so far on any channel. obviously between 2 very smart guys. Great video Ray
Agreed.
One of my favorite videos yet. Impressive to see Devon able to learn from losses at his age and keep moving forward. I recently got beat in a new way and it changed my thoughts on training in a big way. Rising, containment, speed, and side pressure: flash pin every time. Very valuable experience.
10:08 I think John berzink defies all those odds. He wasn't dumb and he didn't have to get beaten down to get better. He just got old, and he is still kicking ass at his age.
Best part about John is he's been an awesome gate keeper to the higher tier of the sport. If you can't beat John, you need to train harder. But even then John can come back and whoop you next year.
Beating John is an achievement worth of praise.
Yep John does all the moves great.
Awesome video Ray. Would love to see more sit downs like this with in depth answers for new fans of the sport!
You got it!
One of the greatest interviews in sport in my opinion. He is a real champion. That’s the mentality of a champion.
Devon is a great analyzer. Want more videos like this
I know nothing about arm-wrestling and this is sooo over my head. Yet I find myself intrigued.
Not sure how ppl see this as admirable and a "token of wisdom".
Its more an example of ego and hard headedness.
EVERYONE, literally EVERYONE, told devon to close the strength gap for a whole year before the match took place.
He just thought it wasn't enough what he could do for 6 months compared to levan.
Yea he would’ve only have closed the gap a fraction more than he did in 6 months, Levans strength is insane and can still get stronger at his age
Its as his fans said "he signed the contract!"
Knowing full well what he was up against.
Well it’s not up to his fans, he challenged himself if he wouldn’t have done it people would say he’s afraid. I don’t get how anyone is afraid to arm wrestler for money
@@anthonybenincasa
Didnt say anything was up to his fans; didnt even imply it. Not even sure where or how that connection was made.
Its hyperbole mostly. But it is a fact his fans were saying that. And it holds true here.
He wanted to challenge himself...cool. But it is a fact that everyone told him he wasnt strong enough. He talked massive trash and even got personal. Told levan he needed to be stronger and bigger; then doubled down with his "endurance" training despite what the world was telling him.
Now its "wisdom" and "oh devon is so humble".
Lol stfu and take the lumps. His ego killed him here. Nothing more.
This is a landmark piece of literature in the Body of Knowledge known as Armwrestling Theory
Honestly with coach ray and Devon, two of the smartest arm wrestlers, this entire interview has been been one of the most revealing conversations I've ever heard about the sport.
You two riff so well about armwrestling, I find sometimes with devon chatting to some people it gets repetitive and his knowledge just superseeds so much its one way but with you its very good flow
Amazing how hundreds of people online told Devon he needs more top end that endurance is a losers mentality, but he didn’t follow the advice
Amazing how many people actually thought Devon would pay attention to any advice from all those hundreds of people...what a surprise🙄
Devon is so good at interacting he jus explains it so well
damn they make perfect chemistry. So intriguing to watch
Love the content and everything you guys are doing for our sport!
Damn. Legendary quality, Raimonds!
Could watch you guys talk armwrestling for hours
Best arm wrestling interview of a brake down Ever !!
Great Job 👍 ... More
I've never heard a person speak of and learn from losing the way Devon does. No excuses.
Coach Ray....Unbelievable interview, brother!! I could listen to you amd Devon talk shop all day long! Dude is a wealth of knowledge and an absolute warrior!
He's a top man, and he's honest enough to crtiise where.hes gone wrong in his loses ,...Great video and a nice insight into the tactics and mindset of a top top arm wrestler....
Devon said the same thing when he lost against Denis, and now repeated the same mistakes
He was positive he lost against Denis because of his injury and the timing. This made him think he's got a better shot since he was at 100% with Levan.
@@jamesordwayultralightpilot Like Nadal in tennis, if he losses its always "injury". Stop being pathetic, idiot
@@jamesordwayultralightpilot bullshit. He’s making shit up to for views
@@RunForPeace-hk1cu lol I'm not saying you're wrong. I know he likes to over analyze the situations. There's definitely a ton of room for speculation in this sport.
This whole conversation is literally what I experienced this week. I discovered on my own that top roll and tricep press are the way to go. Nothing else matters
Gotta build your under table skills. A sudden unexpected blowjob really throws people off.
devon is brilliant, love this stuff. thanks for the video, really enjoyed the germany videos ♥
Loving these videos w u nd devon hopefully there's more to come
Thanks Ray for the great interview with "No Limits"
If someone as strong as Chaffee was still flash-pinned by Levan, I doubt that working on strength would've made any difference for Devon in terms of the outcome.
Dave is strong but he is not really the smartest and his defensive abilities aren't really that good either. Plus he can't hook anymore too. So not really a good benchmark to compare, if someone with Dave's strength had Devon's table iq and endurance they would wreck havoc on the table
@@HulkSmashB Sure. But since we are talking about strength and Dave is undeniably the strongest puller in North America strength-wise, his poor performance against Levan tells us that even if Devon had managed to improve his strength to Dave's level, the gap would've still been huge.
@@StevenRayW We can't really know that, Devon has more leverage than Dave plus his open troproll defensive style is way better than anything Dave has to offer defensively (which is close to nothing as he can't hook anymore). Plus Dave is definitely the strongest in NA but still isn't the no. 1 in NA, doesn't that speak volumes in itself.
@@HulkSmashB Well, Devon himself has already conceded on numerous occasions that technique and endurance do not work when the gap in strength is significant, so I guess the bottom line is this: Would Devon have been able to close the strength gap enough to reverse the outcome of match if he'd done more heavy lifting? My answer is no.
@@StevenRayW That wasn't really the point of my statement but I don't agree with that either. But you're entitled to your opinion so we will end it at that.
These videos are great . So much knowledge in it.
I think Ray can articulate what Devon is trying to say better than everyone else!
Such a great conversation
This is awesome! Hope all the newer armwrestlers see this and take these things to heart
Best devon interview ever
Literally what every person told devon before prep start. Strength train. High volume endurance and technical training was already at max so why focus there. Just close the strength gap. Even at 70% on levans nunbers would been good
Every goddam conversation on arm wrestling, however unrelated, ends up talking about Ryan Bowen these days.
He has done his job well.
I really believe devon kinda plateaued on endurance and technique, he still got better but not as much if he would have trained for explosive power. Thoughts???
Great vid
You have to put yourself through emotional pain. Emotional pain along with physical pain will make you much stronger.
I think this is what everybody was saying all the way up to the match, train heavier and endurance is secondary
You ask great questions Ray. Keep the videos coming!
This relationship is awesome armwrestling is awesome
Just be yourself in life.
I'm super stubborn in life.

Amazing show boys
Armwrestling and life lessons. It’s crazy that this boyhood game elementary school to see who’s the “badass” has so much more depth, insight and technique to master. As in life, it’s not so much a matter of What you do, but more of the quality of HOW you do it that separates the students from the masters
Great video!! Love this Devon
Would seriously like to see Levan do a back to back against at least two or even three top arm wrestlers! With Devon as second or third.
Stop it, devons been through enough lol
@@damiankar4421 yeah, his arm only lasted two rounds last time.
Good afternoon Ray and Devon and everyone getting ready to watch a badass show
Greatest and most genuine interview with Devon till day ! Devon's training model was similar with a type of linear periodisation , just the timeframe of 6 months was small , not enough time under high loads of intensity imao .
I still remember the story of Taras and the door , that once Devon told us !
I think Levan was so strong that Devon could do nothing to win. In my mind technique rules if the strength difference is at most 25%. Levon was probably 50% stronger. Hard to beat those odds.
The only way he could've won is if he bulked more during the prep. He was too small and seemed in denial about being able/needing to put on more mass (during the prep)
I guess he wanted to beat him being small
yea levan was way too strong, no technique could of beat that strength. I think devon is just way out of his prime to compete with a top level guy in his prime right now
Yea that’s what Devon said. Peak strength matters majority of the time
@@robothug6688 I disagree. I think he will heal from this and continue to grow stronger
Learning from the Professor.
Coach Ray is wearing the green hoodie 🤣
Some real experts in the comments I see! 😆
Nothing he coulda done different that woulda made the outcome different or more competitive! Only thing i could think of is not pissing the beast off and making it personal! I get how Devon & especially Travis Bagent will trash talk to throw opponent's off their game but it had the opposite effect of Levan..
I would change things...the last time Devon got a lesson was from Michael Todd , he lost to him but the next time they fought each other it was a complete dominance. Levan is sooooo much fucking stronger than Todd ofcourse the difference is that of earth and sky BUT Devon is a devious and smart AND strong man. I think it would go the same way, Levan would probably win but thus time it would not be so definite.
Awesome 👌🏻
I still maintain that Devon should’ve bulked and strengthened up more with compound weight training movements, isolation movements only cannot produce as much strength as compound movements , Look no further than Levan, As he consistently uses weight training compound movements, instead of only using arm wrestling specific isolation movements.
Yea cause as talented as he is and can beat many good Opponents there’s these guys coming up that train their whole body to be strong, and it seems to play a big role
Technique goes a long way but when you get someone that has decent technique and way more power, your in trouble
Look nor further than Ryan b. Lol.
@@LaCajunWash descent technique? 😂 somebody is butthurt that Levan destroyed Devon.
@@RunForPeace-hk1cu so are you saying Levan won cause his technique has never been seen before lol and has title to do with his power 😆 🤣

Glad you enjoyed it!
I love when Devon mentions Taras Ivakin.
levan is 585 bench 700 squat and deadlift and massive over head log press he can compete with top 10-15 strongmen in the world. If you wanna get in the ring with the king of arm wrestling face up to it and get close to him in strength. He ways over 400lb and can do set of pullups and sitting curls max 1 rep is 330lbs.
Looking massive Ray. Has Travis told you to lay off the sauce yet?
Would have loved to see Devon and the Jedi grip up

Really good explanation and the realization is what makes you better. #morepancakes
"This is a stupid position" (Hook)
John Brzenk- hold my beer
4:56 .... yep, everybody knows what he means :D
These two r great
I lived the first 30 years of my life terribly, yet approaching 40 my life is easy. Devon should not have said "no matter how smart you are". If you're smart enough you do not need to grind all your life. Unless you want to become the best at something, of course. But I understand that's his perspective doing a sport which is very hard to make a living with.
This was the record for the most times Devon has been interrupted during a single interview. Coach Ray on a different level. (the entire interview) I like to respond and interject in to conversations also. Rather than sit and lose your train of thought while the other person drones on and on, you give feed back in real time to display and confirm that you are getting what they are saying. People say I interrupt, I call it a conversation. Ima take notes. Problem is no one else wants to listen, just want to hear themselves talk.
Omggggg.
Ty.
Me stubborn too.
Lololol
Would you feel that the best mentors/coaches etc wouldn’t be the best Arm wrestlers? I feel in other sports, the best managers/coaches in history are not the best players, but they obviously have great knowledge for their sport and become the best managers!
I know he won’t admit it but he needed to be heavier than he was against michael not lighter. Mass moves mass.
Green sweater day
Devon, whether he likes it or not is a better ambassador of life and lesson than armwrestling. His gift to the world and evolution is still not complete.
Such a great video. Could John Brzenk beat Levan at all. John’s hook is the best in arm wrestling
Very cool. I see where he is coming from because if he goes all in strength he may lose the first few (even without that injury) but it would be more of a struggle later on and the endurance/mistakes/injury, fouls may kick in. Even then 9 times out of 10 Levan would probably win
Devon you needed to be 80 lbs heavier than you were to compete. Respectfully. You were big, but not big enough. Mass moves mass. Look at power lifters (in general).
I agree, and would have less chance of getting injured
In general powerlifters are not mass moves mass. Some of the best powerlifters are very light.
How does a guy at his age safely add 80lbs without compromising his health too much?
@@lordcommander3224 Exactly.
@@lordcommander3224 they don't. Even Levan has probably taken 20-30 years off his life even if he stopped right now. Some people that abuse however and don't stop die as early as there 40s
