    Amazing pickups, Trent! Huge congrats on finding that Calvin Keys! That album is so cool and not easy to find. I have seen that Johnny C album but actually never heard it until you showed it. Wow! That album is absolutely killer! I must get myself a copy. That and a copy of Hot Rats. I agree with you 100% - Zappa's guitar playing on that album is phenomenal. So happy you got yourself another clean copy for a good price.
    Appreciate the shout man. It's a delight to see you enjoy the music and share it with the VC. Great video!
    Cheers.

      Thank you my man! You know I was super stoked to get that Calvin Keys haha, love my Black Jazz. But happy you checked out Little Johnny C! That’s a great album that doesn’t get talked about nearly enough.
      You will most definitely have to get a copy of Hot Rats! It’s tooooo good. And thank you again man, appreciate everything you also do for the VC! Cheers

      Hey JT! Thank you very much! Johnny Winter and CSN are two I can never stay way from haha. I always need a copy of both around! That WLP will be sticking around for a long time though. Cheers!

    00:11 _ for shadowing!_ Trent, your longer videos are always interesting! The highlights for me were: Midnight Blue, so good - Plus 4, so tight for a fast recording session, hard to get. Superb stash this time around! Stay well bud :)

    • @trentsrecords
      @trentsrecords  2 роки тому

      Haha! Yes it was! I seriously didn’t think this one would go as long but yet…it went as long and some. But thanks man! I love both of those albums a lot. Can’t believe I didn’t pick up Midnight Blue sooner, just forgot how good it actually is! Hope you’re doing good man, cheers!!

    • @ilyapisman818

      Midnight Blue is probably one of the top 5 jazz albums for me @tubeie07. I credit it as one of maybe 2 or 3 albums that got me into jazz and I know I'm not alone. A must have for sure. Really really happy Trent picked it up for his collection.

    I'm gonna revisit Bags' Groove. I never seem to reach for it when I wanna spin Miles. That Cream is cleeeeean. Way cleaner than the average copy in the bins. The German Vertigo Swirl is a rad score even if the condition is less than ideal. Solid place holder.

    • @trentsrecords
      @trentsrecords  2 роки тому +1

      It was definitely nice to sit and listen to an OG copy of Bags’ Groove, but I think one listen was enough for me. I’d probably reach for Workin’ or Relaxin’ more so, if I had copies hahaha. Eventually!
      But I agree with that! A less than ideal vertigo Sabbath is better than no vertigo Sabbath at all! Thanks man!

    Seeing the Calvin Keys album: Wow!🤯🙌🏽 You are like an archaeologist of vinyl digging!! It’s crazy that you were able to find it. 💛 Bill Evans music.

      Haha! I don’t know if that’s exactly what I’d call myself, but there are worse things to be known as I guess. The Calvin Keys album is so so good though!! Still can’t believe I own it but am very happy that I do. Bill Evans is the best though! Someone I have a very hard time not picking up when I see his stuff. Cheers and thank you!

    Ironically Trent I either have the records you show or they are high on my want list, I really appreciate the soul and funk you show, it has become a passion of mine to dig for those, we do differ on the jazz, I’m only a causal listener of jazz, I go deep into the reggae genre however, I’ve been collecting reggae/ska/rocksteady since 1988, really cool video your collection has achieved legendary status these days

    • @trentsrecords
      @trentsrecords  2 роки тому +1

      Well you sir just happen to have really great taste! Hahah that’s awesome though and happy we have such similar taste. But I love me some funk and soul man! Always gonna show the cool ones I’m able to pick up. Tons of good stuff in that realm.
      Super cool that you’re very into reggae! I’ve had some short phases with reggae and do love it but have yet to get realllll deep into it. I’m sure it’ll happen at some point hahah. But not so sure about legendary status, but I appreciate the sentiment man! Cheers!

    I've been a Johnny Winter life long fan since I first heard Johnny Winter And Live waaay back in the very early 70s. And like you said the self titled is an amazing album. The German pressing on Vertigo of Master is incredible. Congratulations. I'm still on the lookout for Master with the poster. I'd settle for just the poster. Already have a 2nd pressing on the green WB label. Anywho cool video. Thanks man.

      Hey Stoner! Johnny Winter is the man! One of my favorite guitarists of all time. Some of his live footage is just so good. But thank you about the Sabbath! Couldn’t believe it when I found it. Think it’ll be a great place holder for the time being. That poster is super hard to find though! I’ve never seen a copy with one. Thank you though man, cheers!

    That is a great Johnny Winter album man for sure!! And it is hard to find a clean copy because a bunch of stoners owned them back in the day...lol. I'm a lifelong fan of Johnny Winter man it's nice seeing him on someone's channel 🎸🎸

      Hey Rod! Johnny Winter is the man!! One of the best guitar and slide guitar players to ever do it in mind. Not surprised about all those stoners jammin his first album, happy they did too. Cheers man, nice to hear from ya!

And one of the few artists I feel the need to grab most of their early discography of. Hot Rats is such a great one though! Cheers!

    Hello Trent, good to see you back. Do you know by any chance the Bill Evans Portrait in Jazz album? I just bought it and would be interested to know what's your opinion about it, as compared with the Explorations album for example. I am very new to this kind of music so it requires effort from me to really get into it. Take care.

    • @trentsrecords
      @trentsrecords  2 роки тому

      Hey Thierry! Good to hear from you. I do know Portrait in Jazz and I use to have an original copy actually! I think in my personal opinion I prefer Explorations, but I know plenty of people who would take Portrait in Jazz over it! My favorite Bill Evans trio albums are Waltz For Debby and Sunday at the Village Vanguard so those are great albums to check out if you’re not familiar. Both are love albums and I find them easy to listen to but also full of very interesting material! Everybody Digs Bill Evans is also a great studio album. I hope you enjoy, cheers!
