I use Custom Thieaudio Monarch and tried the Mele just for fun. I am starting to notice that the Monarch can sound kinda harsh on some Songs, whereas the Mele are smooth. They are enjoyable and have a fantastic tuning and price to performance ratio. I would honestly sell my Monarch if I could. The Monarch definitely sound better but it's not worth literally 16 times the price. The Mele does what every IEM/Headphone is supposed to do. It lets you enjoy the music, even if it's not the most detailed or technical IEM. I think I now realize how important the tuning/balance/frequency response is for an IEM. Btw you earned a new sub. The Jelly cable is a balanced cable and sounds great through a dac/amp. The Mele is great because it is non fatiguing in the treble range and sounds to me a lot like the JBL / Harmon frequency curve although not exactly the same. The Mele really is an absolute gem at $50 much like you said. Very pleasant and balanced tuning to my ears (balanced not necessarily equaling neutral of course). My most resolving IEMs have a very similar tuning to these (Mangird Xenns Up, which was based on BGGAR’s rec) and it’s really nice to have a pair that fits my ears very comfortably in size and shape and seems well made and durable, all at a price point that’s much more palatable should the consumer ever lose/need to replace the set due to failure etc. I just got the stock cord rather than the jelly as I already have so many other options for cables laying around as alternatives. I typically prefer cables that are a little more on the thicker-than-average side of things, but I have def found this stock cable to be a good tonal match within the proper impedance range for the earphones and I completely agree regarding it being a nice quality cable that doesn’t tangle easily and stays wrapped pretty well in a case. It does have a touch more memory to it than I would prefer, but again, that’s simply my personal preference. I’d say these are an absolute no-brainer and a steal and are easily a personal rec in the sub-$150 price bracket of IEMs. They’re readily making a strong case for themselves as being perhaps one of the strongest bargains in mobile audio of recent years. I just find them to be perfectly enjoyable and inoffensive without ever coming close to recreating music in a ‘boring’ manner, nor ever being obnoxious or excessive in anyway. The sub-bass is well-extended and has good presence and blends nicely into the mid-bass which in particular is overall quite detailed and textured with good imaging and layering/separation In most recordings I’ve listened to on them. It never gets boxy sounding tho and the mids are, to my ears, never over-shadowed by the mid and upper-bass. The vocals of most male and female singers are particularly nicely represented, as are a lot of electric guitars and trumpets and saxophones and other mid-centric instruments. Soundstage is definitely above average in height and perhaps slightly so in width. Depth isn’t necessarily its strong suit, tho what IEMs really do this well at this price? Overall, it’s just a solid and enjoyable set that offers a relatively accurate timbre and a nice tonality/tuning that offers excellent resolution at their price and genuinely punches well above weight like you said in your review. Certainly gives most current ‘value kings’ an extreme run for their money, all the way up even into the sub-$150 bracket. Thanks for the review/quick take..I’ll be looking forward to watching more content of yours in the future!
@@dileepmonk8656 I think the Olina is a wonderful DD option at the price. It’s honestly one of my favs regardless of price. New sub here, I enjoyed your review of the Mele. I've been really impressed with the Mele since I like a warmer sound. I think that the Mele is an absolute bargain. I've been using the Jelly cable with 2.5 termination on my MEST mk ll.
Is it any good for harsh musics like progressive metal, pop-punk, post-hardcore and whatsoever? Or do you have other recommendations? I've heard your sound demo, listened to it quite a few times with two of my IEMs that I have (KZ ES4 and Pai Audio DR2 Pro), Samson SR585 Headphone, and Recording Tech RT5 monitoring speaker. And I'm having an impression that it's quite muddy for those kinds of genre, the bass is just too much. But I'm still quite unsure since my rigs aren't that neutral either. Hence, my interest is shifted towards Tin T3+ now. I'd like to know your thoughts about it.
The Mele are great, and I'll be buying them again if they go on sale. But, the low end definitely bleeds and is a bit cloudy. They are not as clear as others in their price bracket. The CRN does it better, but with a huge caveat. They highs on the CRN are very harsh and hurt to listen to imo. The Mele are very comfortable for all-day casual use.
Finally I got mele buddy. Good tuning. Same as pai audio dr2 that costs the same and nobody talks about it. Both 1 dd amd both sound very similar. Great. Love them both.
Dan, do you use EQ at all? I'm using Spotify on my MB Air M1 2020 with EQMac. With these MELE, to get vocals to clean up to my liking, I'm EQ 250Hz at -2.5db, 4k +1.5db, and 16k +4.5db. The mostly male but also female vocals I'm referring to are on some of my reference tracks - Paul Simon: Graceland Jennifer Warnes , Bill Medley: Time of Our Lives Snoop Dog: Gin and Juice (obscure) Dennis Kamakahi: Ulili E Sarah Vaughan: Make this City Ours Tonight P.S. I returned my Starfield last year b/c to me, too little bass energy and a little to much energy in the 4-5kHz area.
I don’t software EQ, not for any special reason but I just haven’t bothered much on software. I have the schiit lokius, but that doesn’t do me any good with IEM’s on the go. I’m a bit of a minimalist with my devices and tech use habits. So, I don’t end up wanting to pick up the habit of setting up and managing EQ in my routine of listening. That’s just me though. Interesting. That gets me curious about your taste... A video with samples of them all would be fantastic! Much appreciated :)
Yea, I hadn’t seen the detail difference enough to merit commenting on. The difference must’ve been small or negated by the enjoyment I got elsewhere out of them. The Legacy 2, as I recall actually, didn’t give me the full picture of music - with clarity I had heard on the Aria. With my now anecdotal memory only, I think I felt as if the Legacy 2 were the ones that were too warm. I remember having the Aria out of box making me hear how lighter and more balanced the sound could be. A sound comparison should be on the horizon. It will happen, it’s just now a matter of when! :)

To me, I prefer the Clairvoyance. Though for $50, why not try the Mele and see how you feel! :)
With jelly cable, It has better Technical sound and slightly more airy. Spinfit CP100 make the sounds more intimate and fun, better imaging too than wide bore tips
No
is this better than legacy 2 in your opinion?
In a similar rank for me, if memory serves (I haven’t listened to the Legacy 2 for some time).
They’re different though where some people could prefer one over the other, I imagine. The Mele is perhaps the one I would pick up more if I had to pick.
The Mele has a fun full sound and is only $50, half the price, sounds good without tip replacements, and has a nice feeling stock cable.
I think many will prefer this for the sound alone, over the Legacy 2, but the cheaper price and better materials means it has even more value.
I have both. Right off the bat, they both sound great. I prefer Mele thought. I work graveyard, and I was running the L5 on Fiio UTWS3 as my daily driver. Well now it's the Mele haha man bass & drums sound fantastic on these, punchy and tight. Hope this helps 😁
I would be very, very happy if you will record demo for these iem !! There is still not even one in the world who has recorded a demo for the male. and they seem to me very interesting
@@rd5100 I actually just finished recording it! :)
It may be a couple days until the video is made and published though. Maybe longer if I record some more stuff to compare it to.
Warm and sub $200... Sounds like the Kato and Yuan Li knocking
My order of Kato will be arriving any day now :) I look forward to trying them and comparing!
@@dansaudioreviews How long after ordering the KATO did your set get shipped out? I’m on the fence on whether I should order now or wait until Amazon is stocking them and going for that instant gratification of 2 day shipping. With my luck I’ll order them soon and Amazon will have them before my set even ships from China.
@@Assimilator702 oh gosh I can’t remember. Sorry!
@@Assimilator702 Looks like I ordered on October 7 from Apos. They have told me that there are manufacturing delays. So it may or may not be the same with other vendors who sell Kato.
It supposed to arrive in a week or two, I think. So...about one full month after placing the order. It may be that more are coming and an order now will arrive quicker than a month like I went through.
@@dansaudioreviews Thanks for checking. Hopefully the manufacturing issues are ironed out and the orders are getting delivered. I'll give it a month and order. I really want the KATO after the recent reviews. I own the Starfield and owned the KXXS so I'm familiar with the Moondrop house sound. Keep up the great reviews. I like your light hearted and direct approach.
Interesting. That gets me curious about your taste...
You ended up preferring the Aria over the Legacy 2, but from what I hear - the Aria is warmer and less detailed than the Legacy 2 so I wonder if you just preferred the tonality of the Aria or perhaps you don't feel it's less detailed.

This is why this hobby is so intriguing. Measurements suggest that the Aria is definitely warmer than the L2, "Super* Review also categorized it as warmer and said the L2 is more neutral so I thought it would translate to detail - which you didn't get a strong impression of. That's why your input and future sample are so valuable. I know it's not much but I'm now a lowest tier Patreon, won't make a difference for purchases but I wanted to somehow be a part of the great work you do and keep enjoying this great communication.
If you recall - as an audio engineer, I suggested to help you with any audio \ music producing or editing needs you might have. That offer still stands if at some point you'd need it I'd love to pay you back for the great content :)
@@zacaviad919 The hobby is indeed a strange and funny place. I love it!

Update : oh man , again am sorry ...now after burning for more than 50 hrs it's sounded better...and now today I recieved fiio Btr5 now the highs were totally smooth ..it's sounds great ...now i can say this is the best for Mids ..yes ..more than Bass the mids were great...but still you can work on little on highs..may be in Mele pro version 👍🔥
Tripowin Mele - sorry to say - this is totally an overhyped Garbage , very dark and muddy sounded , donno how this getting this much appreciation
Tricky marketing is this were the blon 03 upgrade...it's no where near to Blon 03...my iems are fiio fd1, moondrop SSR , tripowin TC01 , blon 03 , KZ zex , KZ edx Pro...compare to all this is the worst iem according to me and this is for 6k INR (75$) which is day light robbery ...better stay away from this overhyped Garbage...and go 4 moondrop Aria
Really ? Did you burn in it yet ? I'm considering this iem, what type of music are u listening to
Ahem...Fir- Just kidding, nice vid btw
z has a rip off lol
Me? Z doesn’t own first person views :) Our styles and format for sound demos/reviews are also very very different. He has long takes, while I give more succinct impressions and commentaries.
And hey, our opinions themselves are different since we are different people with different tastes and experiences to color what we say.
(Also, spoiler, I may be switching from first person to third person! We’ll see though. I like the first person view too).
@@dansaudioreviews Just keep doing what you think is good mate. If it works, it works. I don't really come looking for creativity when it comes to reviews. I prefer a succint summary rather than long drawn out takes so I think your content is good. But just a suggestion, maybe some timestamps (e.g. build quality, sound quality, comparisons to aria, summary) in the video would be super. Keep it up!
I, for one, hope Dan stays with the first-person presentation mode . . . 👍🏼
@@lanemiddleton9 I just have to work on holding my head more steady! I tried watching my own video on UA-cam and was like.. “man stop moving your head” 🤣
3rd person does have a nice still perspective. Maybe I could do both first and third. Hmmmm…
That's like calling every audiophile youtuber a rip off
