For a moment there I honestly thought Unknown Mortal Orchestra had done a feature with Swedish extreme metal band Meshuggah, and I was very confused haha

I thought this was a Meshuggah song titled Unknown Mortal Orchestra, but this is a really good discovery.
I discovered UMO recently (June 2023), when I was in Scotland @ Isle of Skye, went to lovely cafe there where I had some awesome rhubarb cake and a coffee. It was playing amongst other songs in that cafe. We spent there at least 30 minutes, and when Meshuggash started playing, I just couldn't stop listening, it was quite hypnotizing. I didn't want to loose it, so went to the caf owner and asked her if she's willing to share the band/song name, she replied that its random from one of her playlists on Spotify, and she was happy to share her profile.
I then spent next couple of days listening to her playlist, (she had really nice choice of music), but I only found Messhugah on her 4th out of 5 playlists in total, each containing over 300 songs (so listened to about 1000 songs to find it :) I then binged it for next couple of days and come back to it quite often... Thank you Jackie from The Hungry Gull !!!

I like the tune but the vocal mixing is a little abrasive, they sit so far back in the mix it kinda strains my ears to hear them at all. Perhaps it's something to do with my listening setup? Either way, I'm super-excited about the album!

Man remember when honeybee dropped and the vocal effect worked and wasn't overdone? I like this song but it's near impossible to make out lyrics at parts of this with that vocal effect

Tbh, I think UMO could have tried something a bit different. Its good and all, but nothing new.
I wonder what would be something new for UMO.. Tame impala went downwards in my opinion trying to go pop. Same as the vaccines, cage the elephant. They all lost their roots.
UMO keeps the same and even weirder. Thats the beauty of it and one of the reasons I always keep up with them. Very pure and honest grooves.
@@rodolforossler I agree. Same reason I got less interested in bands like Fleet Foxes and Bon Iver. I think UMO is just so musically talented that every song feels like it brings something unique, from the licks to the lyrics.
