The multiple colors technique is called OVERMOULDING. It's done by injecting different colored plastics on top of the other. It's very complex and because of costs, it's mostly forgotten. The Britains Deetail COMMANDOS and HOSPITAL CREW (and most Britains civilian figures) use this method. According to Roy Selwyn-Smith, it was like magic
@@Panzerleute9 I think Timpo was the king of over moulding. The best figures ever with that technique are the 7th Cavalry "White gloves". Those are possibly the rarest and most expensive of the Timpo series
I remember just having some of the basic cheap army figures when I was a kid. I never knew stuff like this even existed until I found your channel a few months ago
Same for me back then. A bunch of loose soldiers bought and traded with friends. I eventually got to buy a couple of 1/32 sets but never any playsets. Don´t think I ever saw one in a store in Sweden.
WELL DONE VIDEO SIR,NICE KIT FOR IT DAY,THE TIMPOS FIGURES THEY SOLD OVER HERE IN THE STATES WERE A LITTLE DIFFERENT.THE BODIES CAME IN TWO PARTS AND THE HELMETS AND WEAPONS CAME LOOSE.YOU MIGHT STILL ABLE TO FIND THEM ON LINE. TAKE CARE
Nice one. Cheers Jerry. TIMPO Swoppets were my favourite toys, when I was between the ages of 4 and 8. Cowboys, Indians, Cavalry, Confederates. I had the Fort, the City, the Locomotive and Carriages Set, Covered Waggons, Stage Coach, Tee Pees, Cannon... And I still have them all. The WW2 stuff didn't appeal to me at the time. However, this episode has reminded me that I was gifted a cheap knock off this set, Made by Cherileara. Oh dear, it was not very good.
Another AWESOME T shirt my man! So thrilled you put those out!!! I like the double tank trap- that is actually pretty unique- cant say I have ever seen that before.
love your channel! I have some similar german Soldier my Parent Buy for me at Santiago de Chile and I remember they also have removing Helmets. As I Kid it was like woooh!
Hi Gerry, I have been awaiting you to review this set as I owned it as a child and spent many happy hours playing with it, but I have to say the Bren gun APCs were a part of the original set as I remember them clearly. Unless there were different iterations of this set they were shipped with my playset circa~ 1975, Joe (a fan of your channel)
It´s realy hard to find info on these old sets online. What I could find is that they were not included but that could be the wrong info as there´s only a few photos that I can find on Google. I need to do more research on this set :)
Funny I was trying to find photos myself before you reviewed as I was enjoying your other playset reviews and I was unable to, from memory this was brought from a 1970s catalogue like Kay’s or John Noble.
Jerry, that’s a fantastic find as a child. I had the stagecoach and the cowboy town with different buildings the saloon the hotel. Ect the good thing about them they had actual guns that you could replace heads come off scarfs they were the cheaper version but they were a lot of fun. I didn’t know they made this World War II set. The artwork looks like some child has done it but it’s cool.😊
Wouldn't want to mix the coloured and regular soldiers together - but - I love the set, it would work as the next step on from the Beach Head Landing, almost part 2 of the story. I had one of the tents (without the door/opening) but it had a red cross roundel on it - worked well with the medical team covered in your earlier vid (I'm convinced my book holding figure was wearing a cross - making him a vicar - but I would bet against my memory). I like the set, but not the figures - that happened back in the day, but you made do. Most of my 'play sets' were toilet rolls and empty cartons. Imagination is the king of joy.
loved these collected Britains when I was a kid... then after the sas and marines sets came out they vanished... timpo soldiers I saw a few and liked them a lot but never saw sets ever.... wish i was a kid again lol Id grab em all
Great set. I had some of these back around 1978 I would guess. Mine came with 2 tanks, 1 grey for the Germans and 1 green for the Americans. I believe both were actually Chieftains. No idea what happened to them.
Hi Jerry, I just saw your video. I live in Mexico City. I have previously commented on other videos, also collecting plastic soldiers of various brands, as well as accessories such as vehicles, weapons, and more.
great set! i had loads of Timpo as a kid, mainly wild west stuff, cowboys, indians, 7th cavalry, the knights and crusaders castle(still got that) that german minus his helmet made me laugh, he looked like he was headless!
When i was a kid my parents were heavy smokers and used boxes of those matchsticks to light their ciggies and once used made ideal artillery ammunition. An endless supply!Friendly tip tho folks don’t smoke!🪖🪖🪖
Also, once you set it up, I think it looks really really good in 1972 I was five years old if you had given me this for Christmas, I would’ve been over the moon . What we forget as adults you might think oh that’s not very good, but you’ve got to take your mind back to your childhood when you were five or six years old you would’ve loved it. We were laughing at the kid on the display box in a shirt and tie very 70s. lol thanks for showing enjoyed the video keep them coming, please DSM uk 🇬🇧
I like the 1970's Magic Marker box art. Looks like a rough sketch shown to the client and they thought "sod it, that's good enough... print it" 😂 An M-16 with brown furniture is probably meant to be and AR-10?
Hello Jerry from Malta. I love your channel. Such nostalgia! Tell me, did you not get the ESCI 1:72 diorama sets in Sweden in the 70s/80s? You never seem to refer to them... maybe you know of them but are not a fan. I used to love them, especially because of their cool box art.
I´m not sure if they were sold in Sweden. I would love to have them but they are more scale model dioramas then toy soldier playsets. I would have to build and paint them to realy see what thay were all about.
The gun at the lower right looks like a german 98K. Very bad art compared to Matchbox. Not just the box but the playmat is amateurish as well. The walls look cool, other than that it looks pretty trash. The trees look like they could be from a savannah set. Very african looking. I used to love the Timpo cowboys and indians where you could swap out pieces and they had lose guns. Those were fantastic.
@@toysoldiernostalgia Didn't like the guns, too plasticy and toylike. For a toy. sandbags look like log cabins. I forgot about their knights! My favorite knights for sure! Those crusaders!!

Great set! My favorite were the Atlantic Wargame sets that came out in the late 1970's to early 1980's. They were pretty highly detailed non toxic plastic. I had them all, Stalingrad, Battle of the Bulge, el Alamein, and another one I don't remember. I miss those days!
What struck me was the horrible shirt and tie the poor child on the box had to wear, 70s fashion was disgusting, my mum used to dress me in a similar fashion, I have had a phobia of brightly coloured clothes ever since. LOL 😁

TIMPO "Swoppets", Multi-Colour Injection moulded, made to interchange torsos/ tops & legs/ bottoms, to create various poses.

Great, thanks for the info. I realy need to get up to speed on Timpo.
Over moulding was used on the Timpo Romans, Knights and Crusaders which came out in the mid Sixties.

I have never seen this before and I was 12 in 1972 and would have loved this. Didn't even know Timpo made WW2 figures.
WOW another great set, the well of plastic soldiers I never had is deep....Thankyou for another revisit to my younger self here in Scotland.
Glad I could bring some happy memories. Getting all these old sets is like a walk down memory lane.
I use love the Timpo figures when I was young. The German soldier with the mp40 was my favourite 😁. good times
Your videos takes me down memory lane in a feelgood way.....thanks !! Cheers from Norway
Cheers dude!
I loved the old spring loaded artillery. Back before health and safety started worrying about you shooting your siblings eyes out! 😉

Timpo had some very cool accessories with their sets. Great find as always!

Which ones?
Awesome toy set🤗

The Timpo Wild West is their best I think. Had two wagons and a bunch of figures.
Now I want to collect them all but they are so expensive.

I love what little I saw of Mexico. A few drunk days across the border from Cali to Tijuana. This was back in the early 90s.
Nice set❤
Good find , remnants of three sets?
Maybe. If the Brengun Carriers were not included thay would have come in their own sets with one in each.

I believe in was Norman tooth? Main timpo moulder who invented over moulding?

The canons came with silver plastic bullets IIRC.
I´ll have to look into that :)
I remember those modern figures 🙂 I liked the Britain's modern British swoppets better, but these were cheaper!

I agree that most of us would probably have loved this as kids. Even the soldiers I think would have looked great to a any kid 5-10 years old.
I remember using matchsticks for the artillery gun 👍
We did the same :)

You can get your own. Just check below this video.
I remember getting toy soldiers but nothing remotely as good as this, except for the Britain's medieval knights and horses I got when I was 9.

It´s so hard to find a complete set of that game. I will when I can find one :)

I agree on the box art work. Looks more like a sketch then a finished peice of box art.
This is whete the big kids hang out.where
Love Timpos🇨🇦especially the Romans Vikings Crusaders US Civil War both sides and World War Two all sides! Well all of them! On display here!

I don´t think Timpo was all that into historical accuracy :)
But I don´t think thay came with this set originaly.

I don´t have much to trade but I´m always open to buying :)
Got to admit the Timpo soldiers look a bit camp, they look like they are in a Carry On movie......oooh hello soldier
