@@arvinmonderinburgos439 I would assume they get rabies vaccinations seeing as they hunt rats but then again I don't like assuming. How often do the dogs get a bad bite?
Even if your dog got vaccinated for rabies and you are using them to hunt down rats, they would get rabies 50% Assured, the rats blood would transfer to the dogs saliva and stomach and can still cause rabies, it can also cause throat infections or mouth infections, after you get the dog to help you kill rats, you should probably check these things
Joseph had answered some questions in a video a while ago... I believe he stated that many of the rat diseases that many have to worry about are not present in the part of the midwest where he pests with his dogs and minks. Check his channel for more details though.

I had this issue at a apartment complex I own. We had big river rats that were going into the apartments. The guy showed up with dogs running the banks and took care of the issue in a day getting like 40 of them it was unbelievable

LOL The Island Of Tinian should hire you. It is a small island close to Saipan, it is also where the B-29's that dropped the Atomic bombs on Japan took off from. I was deployed there when I was in the Army in 93 and there were so many rats on that island it was hard to sleep because they would run all over you at night.

To address chat. IIRC, MinkMan has stated that several common rat diseases are not present where he lives - so they do not have to worry about those diseases spreading to the dogs/mink. Also, he uses different breed of dogs, as some are fast to catch the ones running away, and others are good at digging the rats out of the ground, etc.

Dogs and Cats as domestic pets are wonderful company. These pets are also great for work also, as the old farming community used to have dogs living outside in kennels, feral cats living in barns. Dogs and cats love to smell and hunt and are territorial. Fantastic job and watching this we all know rats are everywhere worldwide, no place immune.
A lot of farmers still have barn cats, but they should not be feral. They should be able to be vaccinated and neutered and spayed. It’s terrible to leave dogs living outside in kennels. People still do it and I know where they live beagles out in the cold on wire year around and it’s cruel.

Oddly enough, I know a guy who was clearing rats and one day uncovered a nest of pups and they were all killed save for one, which for some inexplicable reason, he decided to put on in his jacket pocked. When he got home, he decided to feed it, (from a syringe) and kept feeding it until it was eating pretty much everything he gave it. Three years later, boy does he love that Rat and it loves him. It's a perfect pet. Super clean and intelligent, he says it's the smartest and most loving pet he ever had! Even his doges accept it, although he doesn't leave them all alone together. Crazy!
My scardycat of a dog is too much of a wimp to bite rats... She stomps them like a horse if she catches one out in the day lol

Does peppermint oil really help deter the mice? I’ve heard some in my vent and have been grabbing some peppermint oil and a rag and been wiping the vents. I feel like it does help a little, because when I did that about 15 minutes later I felt I heard them in the ceiling. Who knows.
There's a guy named Shawn Woods that shows a great video on here of him using peppermint oil. Looks like it works. He uses a control group and everything

Pigs smell better than rats. 4:15 should have had a had a a freeze frame so one could really appreciate these dogs working. If was the farm, I'd neatly stack the lumber.
