@@theexaltedlt8222 Ike is absolutely brain dead. He can continuously throw out huge range disjointed attacks and not get punished because of next to no landing lag.
Just look at MVG vs Leffen, MVG only had to work half as hard to take the game. He only had to shorthop fair and nair to win.
If by "whole different level" you mean "throw out as many unpunishable hit boxes as possible" then, sure. I'm seriously considering picking up Ike because he doesn't require nearly as much fundamentals or tactics as falcon demands to do well. Ike's flowchart is too easy to execute.

Fatalities nerves didn't hold up well under pressure, not to mention the terrible MU. He definitely should have switched to Link to AA Ike's brain dead neutral game with better disjoint and projectiles.
Still, 65/2000 is an excellent placement to get, and Fatality really shouldn't have let that match get to him as much as it did based on his Twitter.

@@Zateu idk, but falcon isn't as good as he used to be in this game, sure he's a good solid character but other characters just have a clear advantage over him, not to mention most of his combos were butchered. I found like a huge essay on Reddit describing what's wrong with him lol so idk they explain it better

To all the bad players who say Ike is "broken" or "brain dead", why is MKLeo the only Ike to get these tournament results? MKLeo is a good player; it's not just the character.
This isn't a Bayonetta situation; Ike doesn't outclass the other characters; so stop complaining and just practice.

Love coming back to watch this set from time to time. The EE and Rod definitely me me chuckle and the gameplay speaks for itself.
This isn't even a matter of characters. Fatality just dropped the ball hard this set. Weird seeing him play this badly.
I know right? As a falcon main I saw him missing his punish opportunities. Fatality choked but understandably agains Leo who’s clearly found his stride in this game. Fatality is just getting warmed up

Leo has a LOT of experience against Link though, he even plays a little bit of Link too. Fatality probably knew that.

Is there another top Ike other than Leo, everyone seems to be complaining about Ike being brain dead but I don't see many other Ikes at the same level of Leo. If anything Leo is broken and makes Ike look brain dead, Ike isn't THAT good Leo is just using him really well.

Looking back a half a year later, the announcer was on point with his prediction Ike would disappear once people got more consistent with parrying.

Alex Salinas the new Smash Ultimate engine made everything faster, meaning Falcon lost one of his biggest advantages in the game no longer outspeeding most characters. His side B, while does get a cool hit box since he dives in, is no longer an early kill confirm. And his up air, used to be his bread and butter, but now it also isn't a kill confirm either and doesn't do as much damage

Almost 2 years later, and this is still crazy. MKLeo should pick up Ike again, now that he's better.

I know falcon struggle against sword characters, but he has no answer to Ikes Nair :(

One thing I've found that works extremely well to punish Ike's nair is to wait for him to throw out an aerial nair. When he does, keep your space, and then falcon kick can punish every time. It's super easy to do. Unfortunately, I don't think Fatality knew or ever needed to resort to this tactic.
@@PhilipWalker You can obviously see fatality trying that with raptor boost, falcon kick is unsafe on hit at early percents, obviously Fatality knew all about these
The disjoint on his nair is so big that it stuffs out raptor boost before the armor activates.

I would choose someone else against Ike. He at a disadvantage from the beginning with Falcon. Link, Zelda, Peach, Daisy, Paulatena or the Pits would have worked better in this match up.

Watching this in 2021 makes me feel like I'm watching Goku vs Radditz 😆 I feel like I coulda beat mkleo if my current self played against him in those early days of ultimate with my years of experience since the game's release
I really feel like Falcon is a lot weaker in this game.
Taking away his teleport grab really destroys his options.
He really took a huge hit because of the universal dash grab nerf. Shit's gonna be like Brawl all over again for him tbh.
You're just seeing Falcon go against like his worst possible matchup. Fatality has done great against many other players and characters.

While Ultimate feels like a well-balanced game, I have a strong feeling that sword-fighting styles are going to dominate the metagame. The game focuses too much on offense and minimizes defensive play. This type of play really benefits swords and hurts brawlers/projectile users.

So hilarious watching this a year later. You can tell the game was pretty new, with Fatality playing like ass here (he improved a lot since then, Falcon being buffed too) and Leo destroying everyone with Ike, a character you literally don't see anymore in competitive play haha.
He certainly got a taste of what he did to that Bayo player the other day.

Lots of things with falcons style is tougher in this game. And what I saw from fatality were a lot of correct reads but just barely missing. I think he takes a lot of precision to play
MKLeo's joker would not even get hit by this falcon for one game, fatality would not even deal 100% in 3 matches

Fatality really needs to slow down and try to parry the nair more.
This is why I switched from C Falcon to Ike. The meta of Smash Ultimate is long range everything, whether it be Link's projectiles or Ike's massive sword (lol). I will always love fucking people up with C Falcon who are clearly inexperienced, but when it comes to game time, you gotta go with range over close distance.

What happened at 3:22? Ike did a down-tilt but then it got canceled somehow and he turned around.
If you hold back after the down tilt comes out then you can turn around back air immediately with Ike. He got hit on the frame he turned.
Ike got grabbed by Captain Falcon's up-b at the same time so it canceled his animation and turned him around
