Fun fact: oysters used to be considered a cheap snack popular amongst the working class, and sold on every street corner of London in the 19th century, but somewhere along the way, they got gentrified and turned into a luxury item.
Allan, you are making me so envious by eating all the food that I miss the most here in overseas. Always enjoy your food videos though. Please show more in the future, okay? I’d love to see you try Taiwanese cold noodles next time. It’s one of the most popular food in Taiwan as well. 👍
Heyyy Allan, I'm so proud of you that you talked to the boss of oyster omelet for 10 mins!!! It's really a good opportunity to practice your Chinese!!! Can see you try hard to talk to every one in Chinese!! Good job!! Also, Lauren is still adorable :)))
I notice(and some here noticed too) the omelet is somewhat unusual the way it served, it's made with water-spinach instead of bok-choy and used soy sauce instead of the usual sweet chilly , but all is well, water spinach usually make things more crunchy and tasty
Oyster omelette came from a siege 400 years ago in Tainan. Hungry soldiers tried everything they could to find food. Eventually, greens, eggs, sweet potato powder and Oyster(cheap and everywhere near An-ping shore, like mussels in UK) were cook together.Looking like a mess yet surprisingly delicious.
If you have a oven, it is very easy to make the beef noodle at home. Take a longer time to cook, it will give you the best flavor in return. I think you should include the Taiwanese hamburger in your list. Peanut powder with the soft pork wrapped with the soft bun, thinking of it always makes me mouth watering. Next time, if you come to Pingtung, I will take you to the Pingtung style steamed meat balls. I prefer the steamed one. 😂
Good to see this beautiful super mom! Really enjoy watching this ex couple together talking about their son’s future. Amor is really an amazing lady, no wonder Allan went to Taiwan for her. Have to correct Allan this is the 3rd time that Amor in your video. The first one is in the picnic video. But did not talk too much as in this video. The 2nd one is talking about education for William on the web cam. Do hope that you could find a best way for William.
OMG, you live in paradise and I’m so jealous as those are my old time favourite but I haven’t been able to have them for a very long time. They are healthy and fresh. Well done! 👍
"Xiaolongbao" originated in Changzhou, Jiangsu, in China, by Wan Hua Tea House, in the years of Qing dynasty, Daoguang Emperor (AD1820 to 1850). Xiaolongbao evolved from the guantangbao (soup-filled dumplings/buns) from Kaifeng, Henan province, the capital city of Northern Song Dynasty (AD 960-1127) in China.
The last two items were made with potato starch, and the clear noodles found in the items you shared with your three friends were not rice noodles, they are bean threads, which were made from mung beans.
Just read a book about Robert Swinhoe (中文名郇和), a British man, served as a Consul of Taiwan in 1868, published his discovery "Notes on Some New Species of Birds Found on the Island of Formosa". Interesting...
Great video. Thanks for sharing. When it comes to prices, it might be worth pointing out to your non-Taiwanese viewers that taxes are included in the pricing and there is usually no tipping. Unlike, say, California, where you would end up paying about $40 for a $30 dish when you figure in tax and tip.
Tapioca starch is the gradient used for the gluey coat of meatball. Any edible food in TW that looks gluey and chewy are probably made from them (e.g. the bubbles in bubble tea)
What’s your favourite of these 5 dishes?

帥倫介紹的都是我們最傳統的美味小吃,意外的是聽到帥倫講出標準台語:哇聽牟;

I love how the owner just ask Allan "is the omelet delicious?" with a knife in his hand.

It’s pretty common in central Taiwan
great video Allan, those are some of my favs as well. If you get to make a part 2, you can consider featuring 碗粿 and 筒仔米糕

Glad to see you recovering from your sad love story. Keep eating and forget all sadness. Alan is always handsome.
❤️
Omg... I miss those foods....I am so jealous. Enjoy!

OMG they're all so good... and so affordable. Thanks for sharing!
Congrats, you've got a large audience now. Enjoyed the ride.
They're absolutely on point.
Allen
(Stand behind you holding a chopping knife) asked: "夠辣嗎?"
🤪🤪🤪
Hahaha 🔪
Very jealous of you getting to eat all of that! Can you do a seafood one next? I love seafood but rarely get to eat it
Good idea!
when the boss wield a knife and ask you if it taste good, only you can say is yes, it taste very good. haha! 8:40
I like all the foods you introduced in the video. I also like the pepper buns and oyster fritters. Maybe you can give them a try next time.
Everything Allan chose to assemble a group of 5 items not expensive to enjoy eating in daily life is just so enticing and too delicious!
The last two items were made with potato starch, and the clear noodles found in the items you shared with your three friends were not rice noodles, they are bean threads, which were made from mung beans.

That’s crazy expensive
地瓜粉 is same ingredient of 地瓜球,肉圓& 蚵仔煎
Ahhhh I misunderstood

Just a note, leek is 蒜 (Not the same as 大蒜. Certainly not 韮), 韮菜 is chives. Just a note for the 小籠包 part
