  • Even though Jamie and I had been to Budapest before, we failed to create a good video during our last visit. This time, we have discovered new places and it has been such a different experience. We are here with three other friends and are loving every minute. Budapest is simply incredible and very welcoming to tourists. We highly recommend a visit!

That was absolutely beautiful! The architecture is just mind blowing. What was the significance of the shoes? I know it's something very historical. The pastries look insane and that stew with beef potatoes and carrots. Made me hungry! Thank you for sharing!

Good question! The shoes are a memorial dedicated to the Jews who were murdered and thrown in the river, leaving their shoes behind.

@@acevedostudio Then these same killers sided with the communists and terrorized the population in the 1950s. You can learn about this in the House of Terror museum. For me, there is the family story, and the stories of several of my colleagues....

@@acevedostudio In Hungary, Jews were not deported until the German occupation. After the occupation, the Germans, with the help of Ashkenazi Jews (e.g., Soros' father), deported non-Ashkenazi Jews while leaving the Ashkenazi Jews unharmed. In Hungary, there was a Nazi movement called the Arrow Cross, which mainly recruited from the local ethnic German minority. These members rounded up the Ashkenazi Jews and, as the Russian front approached, shot them on the banks of the Danube. The row of shoes memorializes this event. The irony is that almost all of the deported Jews returned from the camps.
