  • Today we're back in the full flight Airbus A320 simulator to cover a very interesting approach called, Circle to Land or Circling Approach.
In this session we’re landing at Harry Reid International Airport / Las Vegas - KLAS.
This Approach is used when there's only one runway in use but the wind is coming from the opposite direction. So you have to deviate from your normal ILS approach and basically fly a traffic pattern and land on the opposite side of the runway.
We’re covering everything from reading the approach charts, highlighting the safe corridors, missed approach/go around rules and how to time and manually fly the airplane on the correct headings/tracks.
As an commercial airline Pilot on the Boeing 737 and Airbus A330 we rarely fly a circling approach but it’s always important to train and stay familiar with all the approaches in case you have to fly them.
