Question: How do you fade in a STILL IMAGE? And how do you DISSOLVE from one still image to another?

Basically the same process. A Video Cue is for either video or still imagery. Insert the Fade Cue, and link it to the Video Cue you want to fade. Set the opacity of the image in the Video Cue as 0%, then go over the the opacity in the Fade Cue and change it to 100%. This will create a fade in. To create a dissolve (or cross-fade as most theatre folks would call it) it just takes a few more Fade Cues and creative use of the auto-continue setting. If Video Cue 1 is set as 100% opacity, you would insert a Fade Cue that changes its opacity to 0% (A Fade out). Then insert a Video Cue 2 with a Fade In as described above. If you set the continue status on the first Fade Cue and the subsequent cues as auto-continue, it should create a nice dissolve. Just adjust the fade times in the Fade Cues to create the timing on the transition as you would like.
Thanks for the question and hope this helps. For more helpful hints, check out my book "QLab 3 Show Control" printed by Focal Press. This might be a silly question but how do I get my screen to split like that so I can view my video while also seeing my workspace screen. Is this possible? It's so frustrating to enter full screen mode all the time when passing over a video cue. Can't find the answer to this question anywhere!

+Stefanie Swinnard, the good news is this is a simple setup. Just push "command+shift+a" and it will open the Audition Window. Another option is just to click the Window button in the program's toolbar and click "Audition Window." The Audition Window allows you to see everything as it will be seen on your video patch without losing your screen. I cover this and a lot of other aspects in the video section of my book, "QLab 3 Show Control" at www.focalpress.com/books/details/9780415857574/. If this was helpful, I hope you like this video and follow my channel. All the best!

Thank you so much! That's exactly what I needed and totally saved the few hours I had to reacquaint myself with qlab after a 3 year hiatus!
