Are you nervous scanning and looking up items to resell on eBay and Amazon from thrift store? Do you feel like the employees and managers are watching you? I know this sounds like a joke but it's NOT! When I first started selling on eBay I was TERRIFIED that the people working at the thrift stores would know what I was up to lol.

The employees at my Goodwill are great. I've actually become friends with one of them, and now she watches my UA-cam videos! It simply comes down to being respectful and sparking up conversations.

I agree, I think that as long as you are being a considerate shopper they really don’t care. :)

Re the guy sitting blocking the books. I would say excuse me and stick my hand in and get some books. It’s there for anyone.

Mine don't hate me at all... I give them business... They spend time checking me out is what they may not like... Lol They do need to stop putting tags over the brands! This is how they get ripped and torn

Lots of resellers are assholes. So I can understand why they would hate us.

All the interactions I’ve had with employees are them telling me the big ticket items people have found to resale.

It’s just not worth the hunt for me anymore. Sometimes I miss the thrill of finding a great item but for the most part goodwill and SA are so high it’s not worth the time/storage anymore. Plus’s lot of our thrift store ppl pull out good things for themselves now. Wholesale on Amazon is still pretty good if your picky about what you buy.

Do you guys think this type of business will stay afloat much longer with the shipping charges? Plus, Goodwill already acts like they ARE resellers and sell stuff at insane prices. Not that they had to buy these things they are selling - people dump things, okay, donate it to them and they set these prices as if you are already shopping on ebay and they are ebay resellers. I'm sure you noticed that. Last night I shopped at one local Goodwill, saw a "cheap" serving dish for 19.99 and a plush toy (really nothing special, not even vintage) also 19.99... There was a girl that was putting stuff on shelves and grabbed all the nice things for herself, she would put valuable stuff into her apron. That was in Salvation Army. I saw another goodwill employee scanning books, checking purses to find a good brand, going through them superfast, you could tell she resells them. I don't blame them, they aren't the wealthiest bunch, but this whole thing is looking more and more sad.

I had a worker yesterday that didn’t seem too fond of me haha. She invited me out back to see the new Lego haul they brought in and everything I showed her that I’d like she would hesitate and say her grandson “loves that, I’ll have to keep it”. Of course it was the collectible stuff that would flip well 😅.
She did end up selling me a bucket of retired legos that ended up being worth my time but I suspected she was a reseller herself, she knew what she was doing. Good for her! 😀

I always tell them I'm a collector and I'm going to keep some and sell some. They always understand and leave me alone.

I really don't care if they employees hate me. Our local Greedwill is staffed with a lot of bottom feeders. Their attitude is bad.I didn't pick their jobs. They did. They work there ..I am not there to win a popularity contest. They can do the same thing I do...if they want to put in the effort and time. That is work. There is no relationship with these people. A lot of thrift store people need a lesson in courtesy.

I have been at it a while and the employees at my thrift also don't like people who donate a bunch of crap that nobody wants. Or if you donate dirty items.

I think they watch people making all this money and feel like they should be the ones making it and that is why their prices have gone crazy and putting everything valuable online...I could be wrong?

I still struggle at yardsales to cop to what I'm doing. Like, if they know I'm going to flip an item online, are they going to ask for more for the item.

I get curious looks sometimes but if they have a problem with me reselling and say something, Imma give ‘em a National Geographic type break down on how we are important to the economic ecosystem like barnacles on whales lmao Were living off you for good reason 🤣

Yes. They do. The same on flee market and in charity shops. They always ask why do I buy often? 😀. And I just make a collection of mugs and mini toys

Yep one of my sourcing partners annoys a certain charity shop as he says loudly that certain items are not worth it. the lady pulled me aside last week about him,, i said to her he is a nice guy, dont let him get to you, she said she dont want her customers to hear that, which is understandable. The feeling i get from some of these shops is they appreciate my honesty, i will say to them the numbers are not there for me instead of saying that item is too expensive, they really do appreciate honesty, even if they know you're a flipper, sometimes you tell them why the numbers dont work, ie ebay fees and 20% tax rate, plus price of item. They all know what i do, where as my mate is always trying to hide it. some say they like me more because i am not hiding what i do and two weeks ago, one of the charity workers came to my house, he brought a large bottle of Jamesons. he went home drunk lol now some of the shops hold stuff back for me, and the stuff they hold back for me gets me some of my biggest profits, it just took a couple of years before getting to this point thats all.

6:20 I would look him in the eye and grab another book slowly scan it and put it back . I’m not a big guy but I’m not a small guy either but I can be intimidating.

You forgot one of the most important DO NOTS of being a reseller. You should not go in to these places and brag to the store employees OR customers about your $$$$ conquests. Meaning , don't go around saying stuff like , "oh man I 'm gonna get at least $75 -$100 for this item you priced at $3.00" or telling other resellers about your "Scrores" Not all but some workers will get envious and flustered as they may be making Min Wage. I have seen this WAY to many times. This is also the primary reason thrift store prices have gone through the roof. Make no mistake about it........Just keep to yourself , do your shopping and leave. Simple.

I'd simply slap down a chair and sit down next to him. Once he starts his mumbling I'll call him out. As long as he knows he can get away with it he'll continue. I tend to stand up to bullies and the majority of the time they'll cower away. Bottom line, he didn't pay for the books so he doesn't get the right to push people away

What would I do with a person like that that blocks the cart and won’t allow others to share our look? It depends on how big the cart is… if it’s a small style cart then people need to take turns, if it’s really large and other people can be looking as well then they should share. If you shop there a lot and you tend to see this guy a lot as well I would start doing a little trick like this, get one of those jokesters fart bags that lets out long loud farts and if you can find an odor that reminds you of farts, start using that as well and see if the guy gets annoyed and leaves… I mean it’s a thought! And you could always look at it like this if one acts like a shit head One deserves the same in return!

Well it's because it ain't just them it's a lot of everybody else you forget that resellers ruin the sneaker game now you're jumping into every other place and you're screwing up everybody else's hobbies and enjoyment and a lot of resellers are assholes taking advantage of people care how they have to get it

I don't know if thrift workers hate resellers, but it's the lower class who take the shaft from resellers.

Why go the extra mile to indicate Jamaican? How do you know he is from Jamaica? Did you take the time to ask him where he is from? Or you are just assuming? There are many other people who sounds and speak like a Jamaican. I experienced that situation a past job. I worked with a co-worker for at least 1 year, in the same dept, hearing her speak and totally thinks she was a Jamaican. It turned out she was from Panama, but she is around many Jamaicans. I was totally floored. Please don't aways assume.

  • @yizzy4695

Why does it matter that he was Jamaican my friend? Are we Jamaicans not welcome as resellers?
