Same. I was still a kid when I first watched this episode so after I finished watching it I imagined Pier's silouet outside my window laughing and bouncing -- think I had a nightmare too.
You guys should watch samurai champloo next. If Cowboy Bebop is jazz in space then Samurai Champloo is Edo era hip hop. It’s also made by the same person
It may be made by the same director, but Samurai Champloo isn't remotely as good as Cowboy Bebop. It's like comparing Stephen Spielberg's Raiders of the Lost Ark vs Spielberg's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
I can agree that one of the things that caught my eye this ep was Piers flying mechanics. It's very unique. I can't name any other show where a character flys the same way.
Not to the exact type, but the main villain in D Gray man "The Millennium Earl" has a similar physicality and mystical question at first glance. Very different characters/motives, actually magic hoopla for the earl, but close in design. Pier is definitely more memorable.
It's crazy... You never see Spike that freaked out, confused, and really outmatched in the 1st encounter in any other episode. You almost wondered how Spike was going to beat this guy. And Mad's backstory has to be one of the most disturbing. For him to have a taste for the kill, it's like candy to a kid. Then when Spike got through the armor with the knife and you see Pierrot cry for his momma, ultimately meeting his demise via a giant cat. It was a bittersweet victory putting and end to this man's suffering.
@@xerodelacroix5552 I think that he said that after Spike said: ''Maybe this is the one, the one i will not come back from, the end''. This sounds more of a death wish, and i'm happy that eric noticed it. A major part of the story focuses on Spike's backround after all.
Funny Moment - 3:15 (ROFL!) Calvin: "Holy Shyt! This is like me in Smash!" Aaron: "He's just being juggled. It's like.. Calvin in Smash..." [Calvin looks at Aaron in disbelief]
11:44 Calvin XD I've always felt sad for Pierrot. Yeah, he was mad but it's just so... Sad. It's also interesting to see Pierrot just collapse after feeling pain. To him it all was a game and about revenge, he hadn't expected that he could to be hurt. And the screaming for his mother gets me every time.
It's how a child would react to pain, and all you needed to beat him was make him not feel invincible anymore. It's sad, but at the same time, he was a ticking time bomb.
One of my favorite episodes, the animation and music is so amazing. The tone is genuinely creepy and the villain is so unnerving. The fact that he’s like a child adds a weird creep factor towards his death where’s he’s brutally crushed while crying. Creepy man
For me the most action - packed episode of the series, not necessarily the best but the most intense and entertaing from the beginning till the end. Pierrot le fou had all the elements needed to be a great villain for that episode. Killer, crazy and scary. And although he was clearly not himself the result is the same.
Loved the reaction and the discussion. Cool for Rick to come in with that extra knowledge. Never knew that's where his name came from. Actually liked this episode a lot more on this watch than I have in the past. And I agree with Shane I think he thought of the cat when he saw Spike and his mental defenses were down thus his shield was too. Looking forward to the next one!
Well Ein is a datadog which would lead you to believe that he was some kind of experiment. Maybe the cat was a another type of experiment. I can imagine that cat is Ein arch villain. Lol
I haven't found it since, but there's a blog post that explains all of the musical homages in the show, and how the lab sequence for Tongpu is based on the song On The Run by Pink Floyd in the Dark Side record.
I always figured the Cat belong to one of the scientists who brought it to work with him. Either that or the cat was a pet or mascot of the Lab. Like most pet cats, it had free reign of the Lab and liked sitting in a window as some cats do. The cat was present and visible to Pierrot during is augmentation so I'm guessing the imagery of the Cat while he was being inflicted with severe pain created a psychological link in his mind. Kinda like the old days when electric shock treatments where used to try and help smokers quit.
I always figured Spike's dagger connected because the shield comes down momentarily in order for Pierre to fire. So the knife hit at the exact moment the shield was down. That's why you saw Spike throw the knife and a split second later the bullet hit his shoulder. That second was enough time for the knife to sail the distance needed to hit Pierre =at the exact moment he fired his gun.
This episode was incredible. Pierrot le Fou goes from utterly horrifying to hilarious to tragic in 24 minutes. Plus the animation and fight choreography is top notch for this one. Good shit.
This episode was insane, creepy, and it had an atmosphere of childlike terror that I was pretty shaken up by. I’d even go so far as to say this was the predecessor of Five Nights at Freddie’s and other games inspired by kids stuff.
That *SHUSH* was incredible 😋🤣 haha.. You spent so much time on the cat. It made me think... maybe its symbolic since they gave him "cat like reflex's".. also, I always just thought the cat was a pet to one of the "scientist's." Or had some other mundane reason for being there.. But how messed up would it be to watch other humans experiment on you and torture you.... all while they are nurturing and taking care of an animal right in front of you? 😱
Smurfs = Gargamel and his cat Azriel. Inspector Gadget = Claw and his cat, M.A.D. cat. This was the only episode, in the series, that I was really thought Spike might get killed. And Ed is my favorite character!
Is that guy on the far right from my perspective not really into the show? Talking all the way through... I've felt even some of you wanted him to shut up. This was one hell of a creepy episode but this guy really wanted the attention.
I would love for these guys to watch and react to even more anime movies eventually soon, such as the late great Satoshi Kon (1997) Perfect Blue also Tokyo Godfathers ( 2003) which I feel would be nice to check out during this up and coming holiday season.

Aaron's aversion to needles makes me chuckle because although I don't like needles myself, every two months I have to get eye injections. One needle to freeze the eye (freezing drops first), another for the medication - per eye. 4 needles in all.

I actually felt very sorry for La Fou when he just only cried calling for help like a helpless child it was so unnerving .
That was such an unnerving and creepy scene to me too
It was so sad to me and then so creepy. Poor guy.
I felt bad for him too.
Same he was just crying and yelling MOMMY or MAMA it was terrifying
La fou was kinda a victim of the government, his rampage was mostly because he was so high on the super soldier drugs.
This episode creeped me the hell out the first time I saw it. Not to mention seeing someone just beating the piss out of Spike.

dude spike's pov while shooting at Pierrot in the 1st encounter was fantastic

With the exception (maybe) of episode 22, all the rest of the episodes are fantastic.
Looking into Spikes eyes he saw the same look the cat gave. I think Watanabe tried to say that Spike is a lot like a stereotypical cat.
Well Ein is a datadog which would lead you to believe that he was some kind of experiment. Maybe the cat was a another type of experiment.

Aaron was very talkative this episode

Pierrot Le Fou, is a wink and tribute to the film, one of my favorite movies, hermosa.
Pierrot Le Fou really existed in real life and was a French serial killer Pierre Bodein

@@beastmasterbg No. They're reactors. This isn't a market substitute.
I think Pierrots last cat freakout was due to the fact Spike is often compared to a stray cat as Jet is referred to a dog.
