I use this when I miss O Goshi due to uke trying to move out to the right of my hip. Outer leg stops their escape and a nice harai takes the place of O Goshi
I am the king of overthinking and it was a big problem for me with harai goshi so thank you for pointing out about not getting the hips too deep, was a big mistake I did for years haha.
Thank you for explaining the nuanced application of this throw, Sir. The breakdown of your hip placement and the appropriate use of your sweeping leg is very helpful, but how you discussed the situations (fwd or bkwd) that harai could be applied was especially helpful for understanding. Thank you! 🥋
Ive been watching other judo masters in yt. But yours is very impressive. I love the simple pull takedown you showed. Its very helpful in street self defense. Two thumbs up master
Nick - thank you for another great lesson. You point out that the hips should NOT go too far in . I am curious what throws are best executed when the hips ARE very far in.
The basic 2 legged throws, ippon, morote, koshi garuma, ogoshi etc. you want your hips far enough in to block your opponents right leg if you are a righty. This way he can't step around. But with Harai goshi, the sweeping leg does that job so your hips should be hitting the other leg.
Can you do a video on harai goshi to rnc

@@nicolasyonezuka1058 Cannot thank you enough for the clarity of your explanation.
If only people would realize that's the effective thing in the street. Judo/Jiujitsu...
Flying kicks for movies. :)
More fast powerful throws to each other please
Damn he has a great harai goshi. I wish I could throw like that lol
Very good. There's people who speak with authority and don't know from their ass to their elbow how to teach the technique.
Why do you guys never pronounce the 'eee' at the end of the tech? 'Tai-otosh..' 'Harai-Gosh...' 'eee' 'eee' !!! Haria-Goshi (eee) !!!
