Recently I'm thinking darkness is actually the default setting. Without it, we'd never perceive or experience light, and light illuminates what lies in the dark.

Lol, when I was around 9, my girlfriends and I were playing at recess. In our game, I had somehow been chosen to be the mother. It was fun at first having all these friends shower me with attention and especially playing the role of boss. But I felt so sad afterwards. The next day at recess I abandoned them and found a tree to sit under in the school playground and cried. I couldn't verbalize it then, but I wanted something deeper, and I didn't want to be a boss. That key moment has been an undercurrent in my life. It's morphed over time into a way to understand how much I crave the unseen depths in any situation, or any person. Ultimately, I try to stay aware that I can get to the depths through a faithful practice in which I immerse myself into quiet meditations that satisfy the need to reflect and open my heart to whatever the gods might reveal to me.

Having this dark side, that I quite like to entertain, has been a unusual experience. I’ve been conditioned into thinking it’s not okay to roam where the shadows linger. True, I may dive a little too deep some days, but I feel as if my soul aches for a deeper connection with my being. I feel pushed into shallow waters, when I long for the freedom of depth. I’m not looking to heal, I’m looking for the whole.
I 💕 THIS!!! I have been surrounded by Scorpios my entire life and my first born is a Scorpio (who was assumed to be a Sag but arrived at 38 weeks 😍). I have had a consistently, completely different experience with Scorpio than what the stereotypes promote. Great video as always 🙏🏼🤘🏼❤️

I think Cap and Scorpio go quite well together. Both energies can be very serious, intense, and have fantastically dry, at times almost imperceptibly (to the other types) dark sense of humour. These two, in my experience can trust one another, which isn't easy for either. I am a triple Cap (Sun, Moon and Mercury), Uranus in 29 degrees of Scorpio in my 4th
and IC, squaring my ascendant in 29 degrees of Leo. My daughter has Sun in Capricorn in the exact degrees and minutes of my IC and ascendant, and her moon in Scorpio in 7th house. We have always understood each other very deeply, in an almost psychic way.

My husband is Taurus and we don't know his time of birth but sometime in the evening. I'm pretty sure he's scorpio rising, I call him Heathcliff(wuthering heights), only problem is that he has quite a few addictions and although we've been together for over 30 years I don't know if I can continue like this for much longer.... He's a very good man but difficult to be around...

Incredible. Exactly what this whole year has been for me and challenged me to finally accept. Accept the dark as I always have accepted the light. Now I can see that I was never gonna be whole utill so.
The funny thing is, my initiation came through abuse, mainly made by venuses in scorpio, while mine is in a peachy sagittarius.
I learn and enjoy your storytelling very much. I only came to an awareness of my Scorpio moon a few years ago and just having the knowledge of Scorpio energy and the intensity of this placement, esp my willingness to go dark and deep, has really helped me to accept myself, and not scare others! lol :)

Bro !! My Life story is a complicated plot and I tell you now - you do not want it !!
It made me depressed AS - im in my 50's now, and I've kinda "got used to it" - meaning an event happens to me I get over it faster than in the past and I never get depressed again.
I still get shocked - but it doesn't crush me so bad now.
E.G. someone burned my car this October 6am and I was rescued.
Slow tears fell from my eyes - but it didn't crush me.
It was super special to me because my grandchildren had painted pictures on it for me -
But I look at everything now in a very philosophical light -
I have learned and learned and learned to not be attached to THINGS - no matter how important they are to me personally.
.
Believe me - I try and try to have a life like "others" - but that's not what actually happens.
It is what it is.
It grows me.
- by the way - I cannot watch horror movies - they terrify me too much.

Wonderful talk...I have beat myself up for years for behavior in my past. This made so much sense to me.
To add to your insightful wisdom regarding the Scorpio archetype I am reminded of what Joseph Campbell would often say: "Make no mistake, life feeds off itself". And as such...is natural and NOT evil. Evil "enters" (in my opinion) when the "ingesting" of life energies are done purely for egoic/power-over-other reasons. It appears that in many ways, each level of consciousness "feeds", in one form or another, off of the level (s) right beneath it. However, as the consciousness spiral evolves those "levels" become ever more subtle, etheric and energetic in nature and thus aren't considered under the same "judgemental" parameters as the gritty, earthy experiences we have here on Earth. It's all relative.🙏🌎

Adam, I resonate deeply with your explanation of this season. In fact i feel that in this understanding lies vast healing, and the opportunity for a huge portion of humanity to stop any obsessions with the dark, but I struggle with the idea of accepting and opening up to things like murder, rape, or pedophilia.
I am a leo, and i resonate with being hero like, but i need to integrate this teaching so I can feel myself as god in everything.
This feels like truth, much more than the effort to be heroic over darkness.
Any thoughts may be helpful.

Everyone has a problem with those kinds of things so you aren't alone...yet they exist...when we say finding a place for them we mean coming to accept their reality...not that we condone moral atrocities...but that we come to understand their reality, in our hearts...Jesus had to do this...the Buddha was challenged by "demons"...the darkness has its existence in God...so we seek to reconcile its existence in divinity...not easy but also not an optional exercise!

For now, i still feel a gap between where i am, and the embodiment of this teaching.
Can you recommend a specific teaching within bhakti yoga that may help me to gain a more comprehensive view of our creator, specifically these darker facets?
I know you also reccomended a psychology book in this video, do you think that might help?

@@StelliumGalactic there are many good books on Bhakti. The book "Wise Love" by Pranada Comtois is a good place to start. So is HD Gowsami's translation of the Bhagavad Gita. This lesson is the work of many, many lifetimes. It shouldn't make sense right away because it's very difficult. Try "Re-Visioning Psychology," by James Hillman or even the Soul's Code by James Hillman, too!

WOw-- so perfectly in agreement/ I’ve been saying this about lack of initiation for a long time- and I totally feel your “pirate disappointment “ (ha!) everyday in ways when my venus chart ruler in the 8th finds that “nobody is real enough”.. ha. And I love that you illustrated it all with the pop culture references- that’s important- I’m sharing this with many people. Great illustration of the Scorpio energy! Thank you so much, Adam. I never thought of myself as very 'scorpionic' (I'm sun sign Sag, Asc Aries and Moon in Leo, and my Pluto is in Virgo and lots of planets in Capricorn) but I now realise that it's because I used to think of it in the stereotypical ways you mention. In actual fact I've always been very curious about all sorts of mysterious themes - sth 'BEYOND' and 'RANGE' - I think this first took me into literature and then art, but then into psychology. I'm a psychotherapist. And my line of work is very much based on psychoanalysis and Freud's conceptualisation of the Unconscious and the Instincts. After listening to you today I realise how 'scorpionic' that is: a lot of the work is towards trying to integrate the parts that have been repressed and banished (and keep producing mysterious 'symptoms' or repetitive experiences) - and transmuting and changing oneself almost alchemically in facing one's difficulties. It's not an easy process by any means and it involves so much pain and fear and courage and surprises with a lot of very difficult stuff!... I have Neptune in Scorpio which is my 7th house. I'll have to revisit it in light of your point of view here. Many thanks!

Interesting ideas! I've seen and experienced horrors first hand my whole life--from childhood on--and because they exist I'm sure I'll see more (though I hope less intimately honestly!). I have never had any desire at all to watch horror movies because I've always said there's enough of that in my real life; why would I want to watch it too? But I definitely know people who desire to explore that. And I definitely sense a certain value in initiation rituals and the need to be able to look at these things and say "this too", without pretending it doesn't exist nor demonizing it because both of those positions come only from fear. I always aim to expand my capacity to love, even when it is really hard. I like this mantra of "this too".

I'd like to add that in Shakespeare's King Lear, the Fool is the only character, other than the King's youngest daughter, Cordelia, who speaks the truth. He even disappears from the play once the King full experiences the storm. I once heard that the Fool card in tarot long ago was the Self card.
Yes, we externalize the darkness. I have 7 planets in the eighth house so it seems darkness has been impossible to avoid ✨✨✨

The darkness has brought me to the place of seeing the light. But very well understand all sides, and know that the choice is mine to decide which I want in my life. And you can only decide truly where you wish to be, by knowing both places, Or living both. Not a easy journey, but I look at it all necessary, for me anyway. To make my choice of living my life in the light. People come to me, cause I don’t judge them, and to date know one has told me anything that was worse than anything I have lived. By living it, and wanting good, I can help other, with understanding, and sound advice. And maybe help them to also see the light. The choice is always our own to make, and then we must live with that choice. I am happy with the path I have picked, and am aware of my past, and never will forget it. And that is what keeps me in my present.

I absolutely love this and feel so heard. I have a Scorpio Rising with Lilith and Uranus (square my Sun) in my natal chart. Always had a fascination with darkness, horror movies, smugglers, Catwoman (first comic book I ever owned) and wanting to dive underneath it all to see what is really there. I want to know what makes a person tick, smile, laugh, destroy all the things, their hopes/desires/wishes and speak to them on a level so deep that time disappears. Just so I can get to know the "real" person, and then..... I turned that curiosity on my self.
Would I be capable of darkness? What did my own darkness have to say? It was certainly eye opening to meet her then to begin making a place for her. The more I stepped into that darkness, making room for it, and loving it the more I wanted to get to know it and (eventually) wanted to explore more and more and more.
Oh and the whole time listening there was a man with a chainsaw outside cutting up some trees! Ha!!

Scorpio process most things so slowly. It’s literally a labour of love trying to coax them from the edge of themselves. They also feign emotion professionally and virtue signal more than any other sign.
This pirate story is really interesting!
It literally shows that as a small boy you already had adopted a certain expectation about how the image of a pirate has to play out, how it's animated. by what you've been conditioned with this theme before. Then at your b-day party you realized that it's merely a custom, a surface mask, not able to truly grasp yet as a five year old what just happened, or NOT happened according to your expectations. This was the first step to seeing through the outer shell of what characters appear to be, when it's NOT what's really happening on the inside, the soul, you know.
After all the soul is bare of any custom!
Despite of the fact that what is said about Scorpios, I'm NOT into horror movies and all this dark stuff, as it is displayed through outer appearances, you know.
I literally cut through all this chase, and dig deep into actual life occurrences, after all this IS where it gets serious, you know. The only way out, is to go through! ... and in a literal sense it also means to NOT avoid confrontation with others who are looking to mess with you.
Exactly! ... Superficial isn't my thing, at all! Superficial is the playing-ground for lies, and could not be further from Truth, for truth is deep beneath the surface, and often it's not obvious because of the many layers of fake in what society has covered it all up.
I was just saying last night how astrology is just a MAP of what is going on, and does not control anything. We still own our destiny and can create the environment around us we wish by acting and not reacting in negative ways. What we give we will have returned to us.
I agree there was a dark side of me that I so suppressed ... and still I feared that aspect . I worked out a way to bring this out of me in a real way not paying lip service and in the process not harming myself and others . The fantasy is tame the reality of the shadow is destructive . I had to make friends with this shadow side and actively take part with total mindfulness and integrity . This Scorpio New Moon is hitting my Neptune exact ... just saying lol xxx

I was never suppressing the dark side of me, neither Lilith conj.the ruler of chart(Mercury)... I felt it same strong as light side in me. It was my way of living...of thriving... Unfortunately(?)
I finally came to my Temperance state(hopefully...) I hope I am not trying to suppress my Pluto and Lilith creating what I consider as a balance. I am trying to transmute this energy into sth of high-vibe, not to suppress it, but instead, to healthy express it. Emotions, depth, spirituality, sexuality etc.

My very different but Iam a woman and was always drawn to pirates and boats with huge masts. A Galleon I think they are called. A friend told me he had a dream of me pulling me from the ocean to a big ship and he said I had long red hair to my waist dressed in a green long dress. This was many years before the Pirates of Caribbean came out for I am very old. I still have a obsession with Tall Ships with huge sails. And yes I have a Scorpio Moon and a Aries Acendant

My Scorpio self was used to see through the bs! At any time I was around pirate stuff,I was upset! I didn't like anything bad! And they where bad to my very soul ! Lol I had no religious programming other than the Bible parables,that's it .
Needless to say I didn't like many movies ! So my Scorpio asc with Saturn 23'02" and Sun,Pluto,and Uranus all in my 10th made me a old lady before my time lmao ! I think the Pirate archetype is important especially if someone's chart points to being innovative or creative bent in vocation. It allows one to remain on the periphery instead of stagnant, collective flow.
Scorpio can be curious about others as well.
