    Holy crap. That thing sounds like a jet taking off!

    • @weldchip
      @weldchip  5 років тому +1

      ukau tbh it sounds a bit worse than it actually is as the camera mic seems to pick it up quite well. Esab told me there is already a software update coming with a less aggressive fan profile.

      @@weldchip I wonder how to get the updates to the machine? I talked to a ESAB rep and was told that the unit would have to be taken to a repair shop. I hope that's not the case.

    • @weldchip
      @weldchip  5 років тому +2

      JP Morgan yeah I believe that is the case at the moment but it’s covered by the warranty and any esab dealer will do it for you with their service tool. I asked if it was user update-able and they said the current kernel on the machine doesn’t support updating via usb but they may add support for that later on. To be honest I would rather they do it for me as if they mess it up then it’s their problem to fix. If I do it and mess up then I will probably have to pay to have it fixed.

      What AC waveforms are available on this model?

  • @peterm3159

    The switch on the Tig torch is only 2 wires, hence the 2 pins, it's correct. I have the EMP 235ic and have the same torch.

    • @weldchip
      @weldchip  5 років тому +1

      Yes it’s two pin but the connector is metal and keyed differently. That torch didn’t come off a rebel so that’s why it doesn’t fit but I can get the correct connectors chop the old ones off and swap them. I bet the torch you have on the 235 will plug right into 205 as they are both rebels.

      @@weldchip oh I see, ya it has to be the correct 2 pins in the right spots for sure!

      I Build yep that torch come off an older caddy 2200 tig those machines have two connectors a two pin for the button on the torch and a multi pin can port for the pedal

    What size plug does the welder come with please? is it the blue 3 pin single phase 16A or bigger? Thanks

      It depends on your region mine come with a USA 240v welder plug I would assume the European one comes with a blue 16amp industrial plug or no plug

    is the 4T mode available in only 220v? I am having a hard time to get it into 4T in 120v. Wonder its a software problem.

      Think you have to run with a switch on the torch rather than the pedal to make use for 4t

    Machine is very noisy i think..is the tig torch will fit the esab rogue 200i tig?

    • @weldchip
      @weldchip  4 роки тому

      I'm not sure what other models it would fit you would have to call esab, usually they are standard connectors so it should fit. It is quite noisy but not too bad. If your in the workshop with other people making noise you don't hear it.

  • @dirtydiaz4538

    Does the 205 have to start tig with foot pedal or with out

    • @PhunkyNomad
      @PhunkyNomad 4 роки тому

      STAINS 1 I think you need to foot pedal because it doesn’t have the scratch and start if you have the torch without the button . But if you get a torch with a button on it and install it you can do the 2t and 4t feature without the pedal

    What's the difference between this one and 235ic ?

      Phen0mable 235ic won’t weld aluminum as it doesn’t have ac tig mode.

      @@weldchip you see I'm new to welding with TIG. I'm high qualified car mechanic and last time I weld in 2001 to 2004.
      Now I want to go back to it and I want to weld with TIG. I was going to buy 235 but looks like you just saved me £££
      So to weld aluminium with TIG I need ac DC welder ?

    • @weldchip
      @weldchip  5 років тому +1

      Phen0mable you need a tig welder that has ac to weld aluminum, dc is more common, cheaper and used for welding steel

    Here’s a real world update! ESAB now builds and sells junk! I wanted to love the 205ic I bought brand new from cyber weld (which btw is great to do business with also) but this welder has been nothing less than junk, just like may other units they make! I’m on esab group on fb and owners are constantly having issues! The even bigger kick in the throat is ESAB has TERRIBLE Customer Service and support! I think they have very few employees in that department and they all are rude ass holes! I’ll never buy another Esab product! It’s Miller, HTP, Lincoln, Fronius or even a dang Everlast for me!

    • @weldchip
      @weldchip  2 роки тому

      what problems have you had with your unit, mine has functioned fine for the last 3 years, i was the first paying customer to get a 205ic in the USA so mine must be one of the oldest ones out there, i use it a lot and mine is out of warranty now so fingers crossed it doesn't give me issues. after running it for several years the only thing i really don't like about it is that the fans are really loud and they run immediately as soon as you start welding and stay on for a good 5-10mins when you stop. its fine when welding outside but a bit annoying in the shop. the only issue i had was it kept throwing a fault when running on 120v, in the end i turned out to be a bad outlet, i plugged it in to an outlet closer to the breaker box and then it ran fine. I have looked at millers loads of times but i have never pulled the trigger, at the time the esab beat out the miller on several features and having owned multiple esab's over the years i hadn't really had any issues so stuck with what i knew. i do agree with you that the North American esab service isnt good compared to the esab service in europe when i lived there.

      Not a real world update but maybe an update how they are within your area. I run 5 and are hammered with no issues what's so ever so I guess your unlucky maybe. We all have opinions as my take is they have been lots better than the lincolns I have owned as 1 of those went bang within 10 mins with zero customer service. Maybe it is were you buy them from as you guys love the lincolns so who knows

      Also just saying don't believe everything you read on face ache as I see what's on the forums and more than half the issues are welders full of metal dust which will kill any welder or they don't know how to use them trying to run a 15 mile extension socket to it so it shows error code . Make sure you buy from an esab service agent and should be no issues

      The Everlast "attitude" radiation might give you some pause (and I was told I asked too many questions after about 2 emails), but their tech is good. I just bought a Rebel 205 from a local dealer (who gave me a good deal), because it seemed like lot more for the money than the Miller 220 I was comparing to it, and though I am new to welding, it seems VERY solid. I'd advise against turning off any fan on demand welder with the fan still running; my Polaris has the same sort of fan, and I have gotten used to it. Your welder or motor will last longer if you baby that, yes, aggravating fan My Rebel owners manual says regularly cleaning the inside (opening the case) is OK if the user knows what they are doing. Definitely a GOOD idea, especially if dust and/or, worse, metal shards fly around in your shop.

      @@replyhere590 Unfortunately we don't get everlast here in UK as I think we have to go to mainland Europe so support would be poor at best to be fair. I have sent emails regarding products with no reply and that's after 6 months so will give them a miss but cheers for the heads up.
