It’s depressing that we have to resort to fixing these issues ourselves. For years I had LCD/LED monitors and never had any bleed, since then, nearly every new one looks like crap from the factory. On a positive note, this helped my Samsung G5 monitor and worked well, so thank you for the video!
I totally agree with you and the most embarrassing thing is hearing the manufacturers themselves claim this problem as something normal being part of the panel. It happens to me with a recently purchased LG screen model UQ8050, it has 1 and I still have the same problem. I honestly wouldn't know what to do, does this technique really work?
i bought an almost $600 ultrawide monitor and it still had backlight bleed, was just about to return it and get a new one but I found this video, thanks a lot
55 inch Lg uhd tv with both bottom corners bright, i loosened up both lower screws on the back just about half a turn and applied pressure at the bright areas and it appears to be working.
I have a smaller version and love everything about it, except the atrocious bleed. Guess you wanted to find a solution and try to keep it as well? I know I'd be a happy consumer if that damn bleed was just not an issue. Id also rather not play the panel lottery again.
This wont work most of the time because plastic just springs back to it's original shape. Manufacturers really need to get their shit together and design things in a way that the display panel is not being pressed against. I can't believe we are still having to deal with this. I'm returning a monitor tomorrow because of this nonsense.
YT is a golden place where you get cheats like this to keep in mind if you want a older piece of gear longer instead of sucking up all the big numbers an feeling gross lol
I thought about just making a small clamp out of two pieces of plastic and a nut and bolt. It would look ugly, but you could dial in just the right amount of pressure and leave it overnight. Then take it off and hopefully there shape will be retained. Probably, wouldn't be a bad idea to turn brightness up as high as possible to heat up the display before you do this.
I just wanted to highlight that this was my first attempt and it really seems to be getting darker as I keep pressing on it. Do you have any idea of how many days doing this is necessary until it gets really better? I will try to document this by taking pictures and then post it on UA-cam someday to see if it really works.
@@riverhook But like in the same day? Cause I've been doing it for a while now and although I think it has improved it didn't dissappear. I have a frameless ALIENWARE 2521HF. Any tips?
@@levilima9925 No, not the same day. You need to ignore it a little bit - I know it's hard. Let the frame settle. Hello, I have a screen without frame from the acer company and the model type is xb273ugs, and when I turn off the lights in the room and test the screen, I see a glow from the sides with a color close to orange. Is this something normal and if it is not normal, tell me I want a treatment for it and thank you
It's normal, this is called IPS Glow, and it's on like all IPS monitors, so it's not a big worry. In terms of fixes? Don't know of any (though I haven't searched for)
BB happens to me when everytime I clean my room because I use to move them by holding both corners of the monitor. To avoid from it dont touch the screen even if single tap. Always use the stand of the monitor if your about to move them.
Hey dude, iam still sitting here with the problem while having a Samung Odyssey G7 ( its a curved panel.) I also tried rubbing etc, but that didnt make any improvements. However, yesterday i found out that the problem is lying in the frame of the monitor. The Back side isn´t properly adjusted to the screen, so i got 2 brackets on it which hold the frame together and since then no BLB anymore. But i don´t know if itll last or if itll come back after a hwile when i get rid of them? You think the frame will adapt to the pressure the 2 brackets are doing on the panel?
do you think that most of the bad reviews on Amazon about back bleeding is because people doesn't know the difference between normal ips glow vs back bleeding?
I just bought an 85 inch Samsung q60b and same problem all over the corners. Its an easy menu fix...on Samsung you go into the main menu and go to expert settings and go to backlight settings and adjust it from there. Also go to settings then general then power and energy saving make sure brightness optimasation is enabled. It will automatically adjust the black screen according to light in the room. You can also go to picture setting go to shadow detail it adjust the black images the lower you go the blacker they get i leave it at -2. Ive done all this and its 90% better its still there but ever so faintly. I don't even notice it anymore. So annoying when you pay so much for these tvs. These settings can be achieved on most tvs if you just go into your menu options. Don't be afraid to do it as long as you don't change anything you can back out of the menu by hitting the back button or if your changing something take a pic of it on your phone first so you can go back and put it were it was or just do a picture only reset..hope this helps.
Interesting I have the exact issue with a 65" Samsung q60b, but my 65" does NOT have a separate backlight adjustment in the expert settings. It just has a brightness setting which I don't want to turn down because the picture degrades. I do have the other adjustments you mentioned in the menu so I'll try them.
i fixed my bleed by very softly brushing on the screen with my index finger from the middle towards the edge where the bleed was. The softer i did it the more it helped .. i only have glow now on my legion 5 pro.. Great Succes :D
Can ips glow happen on wva screens? I can't tell if mine is backlight bleeding or ips glow, i'd say it's backlight bleeding cus on two parts i can see a brightest part and it gets brighter when i squeeze. It's on a notebook and i can't tell if i should change it cus it's still on warranty because i've heard some people that have sent the notebook and received a new one with even worse lights on the screen.
I really hate that this happens, Had my last 2 monitors arrive with pretty bad backlight bleed. Hopefully my next one won't have it. I can deal with a little bit of IPS glow but bleed shouldn't be happening.
My monitor is VA technology, but can it have IPS glow as well (if it isn't an IPS monitor)? I have white cloud zones on the corners, how can I tell if it is IPS glow or Backlight bleed?
No matter how gentle or where I push, the light source is only getting brighter, not darker. What should I do? I think after some experimenting, it actually got worse.
I applied pressure on the front trim of my dell latitude e7270 and it seems to fix the IPS glow (not fully but some of it) until I stop! However, there are some displays that don't have black light bleed & IPS glow. Also, there was a technology some years ago that solved these issues!
Thanks for video, I have ips glow and I'm kinda relieved you said its normal. I know the difference between bleed and glow, you only really notice it in black scenes at certain veiwing angles if I'm playing a game generally you can't see it. I'm not new to monitors but I have had my pc hooked up to an LG oled for the past 2 years so I guess I just have to get back used to a monitor now 🤪
Very logical, technical and thoughtful.. Definitely a great DIY at home tip, especially after it leaves the production unit (with all quality issues of course..😀). The only concern here is to be wary of the pressure applied and for how long in intervals, lest that generates any secondary damages to the system in the run.. The bottom line is, cold plastic can be moulded with persistent exertion over time. ..good one👍
