Westward - A photography adventure across South Dakota and Wyoming

A short film from a road trip to South Dakota and Wyoming, capturing the breathtaking views of the American Great Plains.
In March 2024, I spent two weeks driving out west with the goal of exploring new landscapes. Most trips in the past, photography was not the objective. This time, however, solo travel, no agenda, and the privilege of time granted me the ability to focus on capturing the breathtaking scenes before me. The first stop, Badlands National Park, had superb conditions. Western South Dakota and crossing over to Wyoming, residual snow and sub-freezing temperatures lead to a chilly but thrilling adventure.
Along the way, I captured many clips with the ambition of making the short cinematic film presented here. While I have sequenced moments from adventures before, the nature of previous trips - such as backpacking the Via Dinarica - prohibited thoughtful work. This project is my maiden voyage into the world of cinematography and filmmaking. Photography with no doubt remain my focus, but I look forwards to exploring and developing this new medium for sharing my adventures.
