What a beautiful group of people, who happen to also be a family. :-) How fortunate must those be, who are privileged to know and sometimes walk the earth (or at least a small portion of it) with these souls shown here, in this our current day and time. How brave they truly are, these remarkable Willighagens, to dare to let the world into their lives, even a little. How blessed and joyful I hope their lives will be, no matter where they go, in days and years to come. Omroep Gelderland, thank you for posting this interview. To Frieda and Fincent and Amira, thank you so much for granting this interview. Today there are a total of 85 comments accumulated here, at this untranslated version of this interview. I almost like this version better, because I must study the faces, the gestures, the expressions, to learn what I can from those, instead of focusing on the content of the words themselves, which is also helpful, but is available elsewhere. Unfortunately, a select few among the comments here have been rather negative, and even, to some degree, possibly hurtful to the family, and generally seem to involve considerable idle (and grossly incorrect) speculation. My hope (and prayer, for those who believe in prayer) would be that Frieda and Fincent and Amira will be able to overlook such unfortunate, unnecessary, misguided, and completely unwarranted remarks, and rejoice rather in each other and in the life they share and will continue to share in days to come, as they begin a new adventure and a new chapter in their collective lives, in SA. As Frieda herself says elsewhere here, "It was a very friendly gesture to do that interview. Me and my children do not owe a simple soul in this world any explanation for what we do or dont do. We only did it because there were many loyal fans who can appreciate her singing and we allowing people to be a apart of it. We want them to have info so that they dont unnesessarily need to worry." Frieda, thank you. Thanks for continuing to be courageous and generous with and on behalf of your family, and also (to a lesser degree of relative importance) for the sake of the many friends of your family, hidden away now perhaps in nearly every corner of this earth we share. :-)
It's now 18 months since this video was published, and fifteen months since the move. They are happily established there, Amira and Fincent are doing well at one of the best schools in SA; Amira has been welcomed "with open arms" there, and is recognised as a star in the SA musical world. They see their father at least three times a year - either they go to Europe for their winter (mid-year) school holidays, or he comes to SA for Amira's performances at Classics is Groot - and no doubt they communicate via Skype. Amira is taken seriously in SA, and regularly performs with a full orchestra and backing singers, which she never got in NL. So the naysayers in the comments on this site have all been proven wrong. How pleasing to see this!
Amira is back again!!! and with a big surprise, but for her with very good news. I wish you and your family all the best. By the way, your Babino Caro in this video without tecnical support is outstanding. Looking forward to your new CD
I hope someday you may come to Peru, so that we can enjoy your angelic voice, just keep on being the way you are now, sweet and nice. Greetings and best wishes to you and your beautiful family!
Divine phenomenon of Amira. She was calm from birth, and then - an obedient child, so there was no need for screaming, taming, etc. And this psychological atmosphere was enriched over time by the fact that little Amira took part in everything her parents did: her mother, in connection with kitchen duties, was fond of making various holiday cakes, pastries, caramels and other elegantly decorated sweets, in which Amira took an active part, and her mother, very pleased, praised her that she quickly grasped all the subtleties. That's why Amira said that if anything, she would like to get a job at McDonald's She studied well, diligently at school and actively developed her sports data in running, stick-on-the-ball, long jumps and on a trampoline, cycling. There was confidence in their abilities in front of their peers. In these classes, she strengthened her throat, lungs, and the rhythm of breathing. And the rest of the time, she and her brother Finsent conducted classes on UA-cam, fell in love with some vocal pieces and repeated them to the point. The dream of becoming a singer was strengthened, so when asked if she had a dream, she answered: I want to grow up and become an opera singer, and if it doesn’t work out, I would like to participate in athletic competitions at the Olympic Games. And now, after winning the Holand Got Talent competition in November-December 2013, at the age of 9, she was noticed by the great conductor of our time, the Dutchman Andre Rieu, who returned from distant Australia where he gave concerts and after a short master class he showed her in big concert twice in the middle of summer and once before Christmas 2014. Only after the first song in the competition in 2013, there were more than 56 million on UA-cam views. These three (excerpts from operas and Ave Maria) plays, even with some errors in the text, will forever remain among the highest human capabilities and evoke emotions with tears in everyone who touches art, because art is born only in conditions of ease and love for him. While Amira would be taught notes, portable, I think her love for opera would have faded, and at the end of each victorious song on stage she would have cried, and not smiled so cheerfully and naturally.
Her father's work kept him in The Netherlands; however the family was together at her recent award ceremony in Naples, for the five year anniversary concert for the founding of her charity "Gelukskinders" in Turnhout, Belgium, and for her Christmas concert in Nijmegen a week ago.
Amira.
Is Holland taking over UA-cam? If the intent of these videos is to introduce this amazing teen singer and person to other countries, it would be best to have English subtitles.
What are you talking about, Ron Kalkhoven? What I said about Holland was a joke. Nobody takes over UA-cam except Google, which already owns it. Also I wrote those words after watching a number of videos (without comprehension) of Dutch TV programs, They looked entertaining. Amira has put Holland's TV and radio on the international TV and radio map. The TV station did put in a link with subtitles-above your remark. If interested in this interview surrounding her "family" (her dad has no representation) and the move to S.Africa, then read what others wrote below.. There seems to be quite a heated exchange about the move, and includes Amira's mother. Amira and her family have become celebrities and celebrities get hounded. And Amira's a young teen. They made public displays of themselves by opening their life to TV stations. This interview looks almost rehearsed to me. The interviewer kept away from obvious questions, which would have been asked in such an interview of an American celebrity. I have no intention of watching any Amira video from now on. That will have no affect on anything but get her and her family out of my head. No more sycophantic cliques-her “fans” (like you). But I miss that little girl-her singing that moved me so much, her turtle, and her humor. She’s really a special, special person. Like Gordon, I wish she were my daughter. I’d protect her from people like you. I hope she can break away intact from her “fans,” who seem intent on controlling her behavior.

Concordo.
I think it will be better in S. Africa. Most Countries are socialist in Europe, doesn’t lend to personal choice or magnification of personal talents. I could write a whole book on the stupidity in America right now. Let’s press forward focusing on heavenly things- Amira. I could listen to her for an eternity.
Do you know about the current situation in SA? It's a bloody hellhole! On the brink of a total economic and civil collapse due to corruption, racial hatred and black incompetence, thanks to the same political correct socialist bullshit. Maybe her mother has the right contacts and connections there and knows what she is doing, but I would not take my under aged childen there for all the gold of king Solomon.
No my daughters husband is from South Africa. He is the best man I’ve ever known. But until everyone is like him we just have to press forward trying to do right. Not perfect anywhere. Schools here are hardly an example of success Go to tj sotomayor on UA-cam and you will get my opinion. Be prepared his speech is unvarnished
as a mother with family values and principles, I had to write this. how this enormously talented diva can sit there with a smile on her face and tell the world she cant wait to abandone the father, who gave her everything, and her country(yes amira Holland is your country)and flee to sth. Africa to be with her mothers family, stuns me.While admitting nothing much will change, the excuses she offers is an easier run to activities and a chance for more fame and fortune,my god she is 13 and has a lifetime to fulfil her ambitions and make money, watch this girl fall off the rails with an irresponsible parent. If this is what talent does, than thank god I was born talentless. Before you all jump up and down remember this, we all know frieda orchestrated this and has brainwashed amira from a young age to be sth. African, but amira could say no to move and no one would go anywhere, vincent because of the bond and frieda because amira is the gold mine. I will cherish forever the little girl ,accompanied by her FATHER ,who walked onto the stage of HGT as amira willighagen of Holland, but I pray from this day on I never see or hear of amira "brand" of sth. Africa.amira, farewell and goodbye, the magic has gone. p.s. I hope the administrators don't delete this piece, because as a parent we all know the saying ,sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind, and shielding this 13yr old diva from criticism now, will not benefit her in the future , and we all know countless child stars who ended up in tragic circumstances because they were given a free reign.
She is definitely one of my favorites. To be fair why her personality bends like this is because Amira lived part of her childhood as a regular child Colett Otway, where until 9 when her brother decided to take up playing an instrument in this area of the music she felt she might be allowed to participate sometime and sing as a back-up singer for him she began accessing music of the type on youtube and practicing along with it. I am not sure how long it took for her family to discover her youtube practice sessions but they were stunned. They decided that Amira was talented enough and separated her from her brother and enrolled her into Holland's got Talent 2013, she was clearly nervous but she wowed the judges and ended up winning. She moved onto receiving intivations to play with Opera orchestras and receiving instant fame for this talent she suddenly realized she had. So its a kind of Cinderella story she is living out. She even has that plain look, but her singing ability and the power from her lungs is wonderful. Her fame is not edging off. She had a hidden talent which she discovered which they didn't know she had. So she had been old enough to WONDER what she would TRY to become FROM BEING nothing to discover she had a natural talent. If you want to argue the natural part. You have to have a naturally a strong set of vocal chords and a set of lungs to perform this specific type of singing. In fact she had never performed her talent on stage BEFORE Holland's got talent so she was a bit uncomfortable and they placed her audition LAST for Holland's got Talent. Her look and the idea it was her FIRST time performing they DIDN'T clearly think shes got talent. And she states in a translated interview that she doesn't understand why people cry when she sings. Here is a link to the interview: ua-cam.com/video/cRfdtTR_GMI/v-deo.html
It must be difficult to comment on a situation you don't fully know thus can't fully overlook... Anyway, Amira says nowhere that she's happy to aandon the father, who gave her everything, and her country. First of all, you don't know who gave her what. Second, it was said in a newspaper article recently that Amira''s parents parted a while ago, so it's obvious that they won't be living under the same roof. Let's assume they figured out by the 4 of them who should stay, who should move, who moves where. This is obviously a private matter which won't be fully explained. And frankly, they don't have to. THey don't owe us any explaination.
The part is that divorce effects kids throughout the nation. I did NOT know that a divorce had happened. As she is a youth star, I wonder if and how much of a money battle happened for control of the youth. Although Holland's practices may be different from America, if her parents still care about her it can effect her performance sadly. This fact does in fact tarnish things a bit.
IT WAS A VERY FRIENDLY GESTURE TO DO THAT INTERVIEW. Me and my children do not owe a simple soul in this world any explanation for what we do or dont do. We only did it because there were many loyal fans who can appreciate her singing and we allowing people to be a apart of it. We want them to have info so that they dont unnesessarily need to worry. But people like you spoil it for others because the more nonsense you and others wrote the more we will stop letting you and others join in any part of her career.
Frieda, don't let a few spoil it for the vast majority of Amira's loyal fans. The best to you, Amira, Fincent and Gerrit during this difficult period, and my sincere wishes are for a brighter future for you, Amira, and Fincent in South Africa. My prayers are with you and your family. It was wonderful meeting you and Amira earlier in the year. It is something I will always remember. Seeing Amira and you at 6 AM, with Amira dressed and ready for the performance was really great. Also showing me what was on your smart phone was very enjoyable. Thanks again.
Something else I should mention is Amira's sunny disposition.

This whole story of moving does not sound right or feel right! We shall see!
Do you want to compare the Netherlands with America or SA? Are you alright?
For a while there i thought i heard, she's guesting at oprah :))
