  • This one is from a really memorable session I had last week down at Brixham. I'd met Dan (‪@FishingAroundBudleigh‬) down there in the hope of catching rock cook wrasse, which are around in decent numbers in the Torbay area and seemingly very aggressive at this time of year. We got our target, but I also managed to pick up some other special little species along with a few Brixham regulars to make it a session to rememember!
We could see lots of fish but they were surprisingly picky, so we had to work hard for our fish. I had most success with a 1.5g cheb rig and brown mini isome, a dding a tanago stinger to get my rock cooks!
Dont forget we've got the Big Lerf Fundraiser event in Plymouth in July, would be great to see some of you there! Check out the link below for more info :)

Watching your videos got me and my dad into lrf fishing and my gosh what a fun way of fishing , I love that there's so many species to catch down in brixham and it's fun to fight the larger fish on such a small light rod

@@DevonLerfer have heard of a Baillons coming off the breakwater last week, the may bloom that hit a couple of days after you fished it has finally cleared, so hopefully some better things will start to come in.

What an amazing stealthy fishing session, didn’t look like there was much room under that structure, very skilful fishing, those Blue wrasse are beautiful !
( who even knew about them )
they look like something out of an aquarium,
And please excuse my ignorance but is a Pout a small Pouting, they look a lovely gold colour aswell , looked like you couldn’t miss every cast a fish 🐠 🎣👍

    • @DevonLerfer

Thanks Stephen, much appreciated! Its quite a tricky little spot, and quite limited for space as you say, but well worth the effort for the potential rewards! The rock cook wrasse are beautiful aren't they, I find it hard to believe they live around our shores.
Pout is just a shortened name for pouting, the ones we find amongst the weed and rocks do tend to take on a bit of a golden/coppery color though! Thanks again and tight lines 👍🎣

Awesome vid! Some very cool fish there. I'm on holiday in Weymouth this weekend and will have some time to fish - any tips on marks and lures? Would love to catch my first wrasse or bass or pollock (or anything really!). Cheers!

    • @DevonLerfer

Thanks mate! Ah Weymouth is a great LRF venue. Its a bit early in the year for the best fishing but you can't go wrong heading for either the pleasure pier or stone pier, I've had lots of wrasse and pollock, particularly from the stone pier. Not sure on bass although I do know that they can be caught along the beach there. Tight lines mate 👍
