Agree on the lack of new adaptations, as much as I love Great Expectations it really doesn't need a new adaptation every few years when an enormous array of other works (Dickens or not) are completely neglected.
The Jungle Book is my Victober read. I have never read it before, and I have never seen the Disney adaptation, so it’s all new to me. I would love a nonfiction journey tag for nonfiction November!
Oh, excellent! (I tagged you this afternoon, probably as you were uploading this video.) I love the idea of a booktube mosaic, and I find it fascinating that you immediately established cross-casting!
@@saintdonoghue Have you seen videos from that Robin Waldun guy? (If he’s not available, I wonder if you could convince Jared Henderson to play the part?)
A handbag?!!!.... Booktube mosaic makes me think of the possibility of a Booktube Christmas pantomime via Zoom. When you said you were like Mowgli it made me think of your oft-repeated self-description: "doesn't wear pants".
You're right about the Woke Victorianism. It's a leftist kulturkampf. It's so embarrassing and tiresome at this point too. (The Davel Pate example is different; it was made by Armando Ianucci who has earned his licence.) At Xmas there was an adapt. of Doyle's story Lot No. 249 and the casting was all fruity. It took me right out of it and spoiled what should have been a fine short film. E.g. It's 1890s Oxford and apparently there's a Chinese youth cavorting (as an extra) in the background which the camera seems to just love. Anyone would think it was the present day.
One of my favorite memories is watching that cartoon version of "Riki Tiki Tavi" with my Kipling-loving father
Ah dear Steve everyone I tagged is part of the Discord group chat but I am delighted you have done the tag.

Oh, I had forgotten The Man Who Would be King! I loved that movie. Thanks for the memory.
Never saw this tag. Very cool! I have to read more Victorian lit! Great info here to get me started ! 🎉
I too really want to see this tag adapted for Nonfiction November.
Moriarty was Jared Harris, son of Richard.

Well, I'm not categorically against cross-casting, especially in this case! But: who'll be BookTube's Mr. Casaubon? Or do I not want to know?

The Bean, the Bean, enchanted by the story. Wow.

Oh my - A BookTube Christmas pantomime, with a hundred BookTubers chipping in little bits 'in character' - what an absolute JOY that would be
@@saintdonoghue @heathergregg9975 PLEASE??????
(strokes her chin, thoughtfully)
@@saintdonoghueOh no it wouldn’t!
(Sorry, but someone had to.)
I don't cry in books either.
Sherlock with Cumberbritches is fantastic.
Hannah tagged you!
I wonder if there is a version of Jungle Book that you would recommend?
I'd love to recommend a big fat illustrated annotated edition, but I don't think one exists -
Who are the other booktubers you like?
Quite a few!
