- A nostalgic look at the Railway Children Return Premiere at Oakworth Station. The star studied Cast and Crew were giving interviews and posing for pictures. It was an excellent atmosphere to soak up. UA-cam music... attribution song .... And Awaken....Kevin Macleod
Smashing presentation. The original film was really wonderful - a real tear jerker. Jenny Agutter looks amazing. Very sad to hear today of the death of Bernard Cribbins ( 93 ) a national treasure whose performance as Perks was wonderful. Many thanks for posting.
Agreed. Whether he was singing songs about digging holes or attacking Daleks with a paintball gun, he always gave his best.
That final scene ,Daddy my daddy always chokes me up
I love the children's classics
wow so cool im going to see the sequel today im a huge fan im wearing my railway children t shirt
Would have been lovely if Bernard Cribbins could have been there 💙🙏
He died
66 years old , and I still have to have the "tissues ready" a soft chap who was influenced by this film the first time I saw it, classic is not the word,....🥲🥲🥲
Jenny Agutter still as gorgeous as ever 👍🇬🇧
Goddam pictures and music....ugh, the star of the show is the fkn engine!!
The thing that struck me having seen 'The Railway Children Return' is that unlike the original, at no point in the film do any of the children display the remotest of interest in trains/railways. The trains only appear for what they are - a period mode of transport. Most of the action takes place in and around semi derelict trucks in some sidings which is an adventure playground for them.
You left out the pressing need to tick boxes and introduce silly elements that simply were not part of the landscape then to satisfy low self esteem groups.
great brass check out hard times THE LONGEST JOHNS BAND GREAT VIDIO AND MUSIC
What happened to the Pannier tank from the original. I like USA locos but they don’t belong here.
Nice to see myself on the platform covering the event for BCB Radio and my Transported programme. There’s a video extra on my Tim Moon Transported UA-cam channel.
Why on earth not a British engine, film producers twisting story lines to ruin the original
My thoughts exactly. Bloody Yanks. 🤬
You have to see the film. It will make sense. It doesn’t spoil the original. This is a sequel not a remake and takes place almost 50 years later.
@@mrjel1983 l don't disagree with you on the time frame of the story its the use of a foreign steam engine which have never run on British Railways with the exception of heritage lines. There are dozens of rebuilt British Steam engines in use that could and should have been used. The Railway Children is a classic Film and l'm sorry but l don't like these film makers using poetic license in the wrong places
@@roytandy5812 The film is set during World War Two, when around 400 of the American-built S160 class 2-8-0s were in operation on British railways. All four of the major railway operated at least some of them. So, provided its livery and configuration is correct for the period, the use of 'Big Jim' is perfectly authentic.
@@bruiser3601 Many of the S160 class were shedded at Neville Hill, Leeds so it is possible some of them worked in the Worth Valloey so an S160 may be authentic.
SO WHAT HAPPENED TO GARY WARREN WHO PLAYED PETER AND SALLY THOMPSETT WHO PLAYED PHILLIS.
WONDER WHY THEY DID'NT APPEAR IN THE FILM....................
YES IT WOULD HAVE BEEN GREAT IF BERNARD CRIBBINGS COULD HAVE PLAYED PERKS BUT OLDER...............
RIP BERNARD😢😢😢 YOU WERE BRILLIENT👍👍
They did right not touching this remake/sequel with a bargepole...
Great video , thanks very much . Could you tell me more about the music used please ?
Hi im glad you enjoyed the video, the first song is called Hard times come again no more, the middle song is Salute to a new beginning. Followed by a song called And Awakens-Stings. They are all UA-cam Studio audio songs fitting the video nicely. Cheers.....
@@jonathanwood2737 Thanks for your very quick reply . I will check these pieces out . All the best , Mark .
Top class stars 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
What about the first TV version with Jenny Agutter. The version in 2000 I believe, were Jenny Agutter plays the mother.
The one with Gillian Bailey?
I don't think you can re-make perfection. They tried it with The Italian Job and after viewing 10 minutes of the re-make I turned it off. Movies like that and The Railway Children became classics loved by many the world over and should be left alone. Very nice to see Jenny Agutter radiating her beauty. She was an extremely attractive young lady back in 1970 and the years have certainly been kind to her.
It's a sequel, not a remake.
@@melaniefrontage9217 yea right. Trying to recapture the past magic and ruining it by trying to tick boxes and introduce 21st century neurosis’s by having to include groups that just were not part of the landscape back then. I’m surprised that they didn’t include a wheel chair and a confused grandfather who sewed frocks for victory.
Did sheridan Smith gain weight for the film if so why people were probably a lot thinner in the days the novel was based on
Why make another there are already 2 on offer
'Coming to Cinema's....' !! Another Greengrocer apostrophe even in Oakworth, Yorkshire!
Whenever there is a remake or a Part 2 or 3 you are guaranteed it will be WORSE than the original. Apparently starting with a clean sheet and a new idea takes a back seat to simply trying to rework the original to death!
When we have a generation virtual bankrupt of ideas and unable to write anything half decent without piggy backing off something worse least they offend some group.
jenny agutter looks better today than she did then a real lady .how come that tom courtney muscled in on this?i dont remember him in the original film
We all thought The Railway Children Return was simply awful!
No thankyou, I'll remember the original as it was!!!! They just can't leave things alone can they! This generation are all out of ideas you just can't beat the old ones
Nobody is forcing you to watch it.
@@melaniefrontage9217 and no body is forcing every movie these days set in a period time to include a raft of minority groups to please 21st century neurotic needs instead of just admitting that maybe; they don’t feature largely in the period. And bad luck.
A american steam locomotive in uk cool
You can tell it's an American engine,it has a decent whistle.
You can tell it's American without hearing the whistle...
I’ve yet to hear a decent America train whistle
Hadaway and shite man..from Geordieland..
I expected to see more than a pile of still shots with band music so loud it gives you a headache.
They need the railway children with a black person that’s all. Things are changing the reset button has been pressed
But in those days there were hardly any black people in England.
@@col4574 Well the film showed them all - can't get more inclusive than that!
i will never watch this film, it can never recreate the emotion of the first and only railway children.
You are right. Nothing wrong with promoting black people's and women's rights but is this really the platform to do it? (no pun intended)
Pointless remake. Only thing it was designed to make was £££.
Aren't all films?
@@TheSeafordian In essence I guess yes. However some it would appear are 100% about making money and little else.
Sad fact nowadays that films that don't have a diverse cast (however incongruous) just don't get made.
Why did they have to make railway children woke I thought it was.awful
Get rid of that useless piece of American rubbish. Why not use a proper Yorkshire engine? Plenty are available just go to NYMR.
A load of woke from what I've heard. I won't be watching. Such a shame!
Instead of remaking the film, why not just release the original. I always find that a remake of an original always ruins the character of the original.
What’s wrong with using an original British Steam Locomotive, why do you have to use an ugly foreign pile of garbage 👎
