Awesome broody video. What is your bedding? Did you say you separated brooding mama's from the rest? If so would like to see more of that. Looking to transition from incubator hatches to broody mammas and looking to optimize environment for that. Will check out more of your work. Very nice!
Hello Tamar. Thank you for the kind words, and watching my videos. I used my iPhone 4 or 6 to make them so they aren’t that fancy, but convey the message. For bedding in the nests I use a bale of mixed grasses with Timothy grass. Horse owners use these bales. I buy a bale of it that lasts me quite a while. If you don’t need much, your local feed store will probably just let you pick up the remnants in the hay shed for free. Also, yes, I do separate the broody hens sometimes, it just depends on how many I have sitting. They will be fine if they are left with the other chickens, in fact in some of my videos they aren’t separated.
i had my ISA brown adopt 2 ISA chicks becausw she had been broody for 2 months and was refusing to come out of it. I used seramic bowls but one day i came outside and she was frantic because there was only one chick. i looked everywhere because the cage was predator proof. under straw, i couldn't find it. the poor chick was stuck under the bowl in the summer heat. He was exhausted and i was lucky he didnt die. Just be careful with those food bowls :)
Yes, chicks can get into some crazy life threatening places. I'm learning to build my enclosures from the point of view of a baby chick. I lost one in a water dish few years ago. So sad and preventable. Checking every few hours also helps... I like to put eyes on every living thing every 2 to 4 hours.
TECH Gamerz Sorry, but I don’t have any of those social media tools..... I don’t even have Facebook. thank you for watching though. I make all of my videos with my iPhone and the Apple editing app. I posted a new pigeon release video and one with wildlife in the yard about a week ago. Thank you for watching. Rob
Aw, are ya not supposed to help the ones that have trouble getting out of the egg? : ( they all look so adorable though, congrats on getting all those fluffballs!
It can happen, but it's not that common. With all the chickens I have raised here I haven't had that problem. They leave the nest to poop so it's normally not a problem. I guess if you noticed it you could use luke warm water and gently clean them and put them back under the hen. Thanks for the question. Rob
Hi David. Sorry, but we only sell eggs here. We keep the hens for sustainable farming and butcher the roosters for food. ua-cam.com/video/tPjFdzlcYtk/v-deo.html
No, that couldn’t be because I took the eggs away every day that they were laid and replaced them with golf balls and I then put them back under the hen at the same time. It was a warm summer so that could have sped up the incubation period. Thank you for watching. Rob

What am I meant to do if my chickens are hatching early because this is happening to me right now
There really isn’t much you can do except to allow nature to take its course. At least they are fertile and are hatching!! Good luck with your chicks.
HighDesert Rob thank you. My chick is chirping from inside the eggshell and has its beak through hole now!
