Listen, I listened to Fallen so much over the years that I've gotten sick of it, especially BMTL, but I wouldn't go as far as to say this competes with it. In my honest whole hearted opinion, as much as I love Evanescence and will love any music they put out no matter how hard it is to swallow, this album isn't their best at all. Artistically and creatively, it's got very strong themes, but something about it musically just isn't strong, maybe it's the fact that Evanescence keep changing their style so much that I feel like they couldn't focus on one style that they could evolve over time like many bands do. I mean look at Jinjer, compared to them and Evanescence, they've been around for 10+ years (half the age of Evanescence) and they're hella huge now after literally nobody knew them and they sound fucking amazing now when 10 years ago their music sounded like angsty teen stuff. This is what Evanescence really lacks, the too many hiatuses they went on and the ever changing styles made this album not bad, but not fresh, and weak.
It definitely has strong vibes from Fallen and TOD, which are their best albums, but that's the thing, they are great to listen to knowing that they're early 2000s albums, and since metal and rock changed so much up to where we are now, Evanescence going back to that old sound without actually evolving it didn't do the cut. Yeah, this is totally different in that it's much more "in your face" and empowered and all, but that doesn't count as an evolution rather a twist. This is why they are hardly gaining any recognition or popularity in the 2020s, they're not gaining new fans, it's the same old us since 2004. It's quite sad.
@@ahmadhelmy_ Wow, I didn't realize UA-cam comments can be that long :D First of all, you have to undestand, that Evanescence started and gained their popularity as they were still teenagers. They did a lot of work while being very young and had no time for themselves at all. Amy Lee said later that she took some hiatuses because she wanted to live her live a little bit, and spend some time with her family. She has a child after all.
For the same reason, their music has changed, as well as the band members: they are no longer teenagers, they think, they feel differently now, so their music is different too. What did you expect - that they will be living in mid 2000s forever? We should be thankful to them that they still continue to sing and perform. As for The Bitter Truth album, I agree that it's not as good as first two albums, but I once occasionally listened to it on repeat for a couple of days, and I've found parts in it that I love. So it's as speacial for me, as all the rest of their albums.
@@ahmadhelmy_ i respectfully disagree with your point that Ev’s sound hasn’t evolved. Each album has a natural progression + has the evanescence classic sound. From fallen, their sound went a little more mid-tempo to heavy with the TOD. Then with EV3 their sound went heavier. Then this latest album is heavy but has sounds reminiscent of their first two albums. If that’s not evolution, then idk what is.

How does this not have more likes??? This is a phenomenal tune by one of the most talented female artists/bands in years. Love the bottom-end guitar-bass. Is this a drop-D song? (I’m a drummer…I don’t do chords/scales…🤣).
Update: STILL loving this album and this particular tune!!! It’s on regular rotation at my gym on my buds/Apple Music and included on some of the stuff to which I play on my Ludwigs for practice. This song as well as “Better Without You, “Wasted On You,” and the remaining nine tracks on The Bitter Truth album are peak material by Amy, IMHO…and just to verify that I’m not a biased Evanescence fan, I’m primarily a Zep, Sabbath, Whitesnake, Cream, Heart, Linkin, etc…fan. But when I first heard this album…holy crapola!!! So, if you’re also a fan of these aforementioned bands or a general metal, nu-metal, rock, pop, or contemporary music fan OR happen to be a musician of any of these genres like myself (drummer)…then this has got to be in your regular rotation. This is Amy Lee’s dark-rock musicianship and song writing at her best…yes, even better than her early 00’s stuff. The song choruses, bridges, pauses, peaks, leads, and the mix in general on entire The Bitter Truth album shows how far Amy has come. Therefore, I’ll say it: The Bitter Truth is Evanescence’s Zeppelin 4.
The songs just fit in order on The Bitter Truth; every tune is emotional, capturing, rocking, and dark…all with no fillers whatsoever.
Of course it’s possible that this higher quality rock/gothic/nu-metal album may simply be too mature and structured for most teens/20-something’s these days whose tastes primarily involve hip-hop, dance, and/or one-hit-wonder ultra poppy/the latest craze stuff. I get it…and that’s ok. But if you demand better from your bands and have higher quality, more mature musical tastes and are a discerning listener or musician, Evanescence is quintessentially for you. Amy’s band has peaked with this album and continues to do so ever since with her newer material on which I will comment soon.
In conclusion, do not let this band pass you by. Latch on, get lost in the music, and enjoy the ride. ❤

This is my top track on TBT 😍 But I think there was something wrong with the bridge, the what we called the "holy moment" of the song. It feels like Troy's guitar solo was a bit off which makes it sounds kind of awful...he messed up. I think the song is better without some improvisation, originally the song has no solo. After all it was a bad-ass performance. 🔥🔥 Love EV!

Amazing performance. Too bad they're not playing with Jen anymore, she added a really cool vibe and energy to the whole thing. Emma is not bad on bass, but IMHO Jen fit the picture better.
